Elisha A. Thurman married Fannie Helena "Lena" Derryberry 28 September 1876 in Collin County, Texas (Vol: 4, p. 68) by John Beverly, Minister of Gospel. Lena Derryberry was born 20 June 1858 in Texas, likely in Collin County. She was the daughter of Henry Alexander and Sarah (Chenoweth) Derryberry

Elisha A. Thurman died 16 September 1919 at 7 miles southeast of Sulphur Springs, Hopkins County, Texas; his death record (Vol; 4, p: 14) has the Coroner listed as Clifton & Beasley of Sulphur Springs with cause of death as Acute Indigestion. His father was listed as Dammal Thurman and his mother Synthia Hill. Elisha Thurman was buried 17 Septmeber in Forest Academy Cemetery, Hopkins County, Texas by Undertakers; Murray & Wester of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Echo Elisha Thurman died Tuesday in his wagon near his home seven miles southeast of Sulphur Springs. The inquest and verdict was that he died from natural causes. he had been suffering from brights disease and trouble with his heart. He was 63 years old and is survived by his wife and eight children. Burial took place at Forest Academy. |
Fannie Helena "Lena" Thurman died 11 April 1940 in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas. Her body was brought back to Hopkins County and she is buried alongside her husband in Forest Academy Cemetery, Hopkins County, Texas.
