Joseph Dunken "Joe" Crowder was born 23 May 1878 in Hopkins County, Texas. He was the only child born to Green Ham Crowder and Ann E. Traylor. Joe and his mother were not living with Green when the 1880 census was taken. Ann Crowder was listed as the head of household in Precinct 2, Hopkins County, Texas.
Joseph Dunken "Joe" Crowder married Brooksie E. Henley about 1908 in Franklin County, Texas. She was born 11 August 1884 in Como, Hopkins County, Texas. She was the daughter of Ed Henley and Mary E. Page.

Joseph's middle name and date of birth came from his World War I
Registration Card. He lived in Como, Texas when he registered for
the draft on 12 Sept. 1918.
Joe Crowder was mentioned as a child of Green H. Crowder in a letter written by Mrs. Maud Biard Smith. Maud wrote to Celia Wright chairman of the Hopkins County Historical Survy Committee. The letter was dated 11 January 1956.
