Samuel Houston Crowder was born circa 1858 in Texas. He married (1) Izoda "Zodie" Taylor 28 November 1883 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 5, p 251). She was born 03 January 1863.

Children of SAMUEL CROWDER and IZODA TAYLOR are:

  1. Minnie M. Crowder was born 17 December 1884 in Como, Hopkins County, Texas and died 19 June 1939 in Sanger, Denton County, Texas (death certificate. She married Leslie Tide Brackney 09 December 1910 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 13, p 270). He is also listed as Tide Leslie Brackney in some documents. He was born between 1885 - 1886 in Texas and died 11 May 1944 in Denton County, Texas. Minnie is buried in Sanger Cemetery in Denton County, Texas
     
     
  2. Hugh William Crowder was born 03 December 1886 in Como, Hopkins County, Texas and died 1 August 1959 in the VA Hospital in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas (death certificate). He is buried in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
    NOTE: Hugh lived in Como, Texas when he registered 5 June 1917 for the World War I draft. The name "William" was written in at the top of the card but more as an afterthought. He was single at the time. His Probate Birth Record is in Hopkins County.
    I found 43 year old Hugh W Crowder and his wife Mary E. living in Dallas in the 1930 census. Mary was 36 years old, they had been married about a year.
     
     
  3. Eula Mae Crowder was born 30 August 1888 in Hopkins County, Texas and died 26 May 1952 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.
    She married 1) Robert Lee McGrady 25 December 1905 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 12, p 158). He was the son of R. McGrady and Fannie Graves. Robert was born 04 August 1882 in Upshur County, Texas and died 06 January 1914 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas (death certificate). Robert was a switchman for Santa Fe Railroad. He was "crushed to death". According to his death certificate, he was buried in Como.
    Eula Mae married 2) Simpson Oscar Burrell between 1918 - 1920. He was born 10 October 1888 in Burnt Mountain, Georgia (World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918) and died 23 December 1961 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas (death certificate).
    Eula Mae Crowder Burrell is buried in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas County, Texas (death certificate).
     
     
  4. Bessie Crowder was born 17 February 1892 in Como, Hopkins County, Texas and died 01 October 1938 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. She married Robert Andrews (death certificate). According to her death certificate, Bessie is buried in Dallas.
     
     
  5. Rosebud Crowder was born 27 December 1893 and died 15 November 1908 in Hopkins County, Texas. She married Ben Jennings 27 February 1908 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 12, p 487).

    Mrs. Rosebud Jennings, nee Mis Rosebud Crowder, was burned to death when her clothing caught fire while she was standing in front of the fireplace, and before her husband could get her clothing distinguished she was burned so badly that she only lived a few hours. She was 15 years of age and had only been married a short time. Burial was made in Martin Springs cemetery, with services conducted by Bro. York

     
  6. Lucille Crowder was born 24 September 1896 in Hopkins County, Texas. She lived with her sister in Dallas County when the 1920 census was taken. No further information on her.
     
     
  7. Eunice Crowder was born 12 February 1899 in Como, Hopkins County, Texas and died 01 June 1918 at 1808 Chestnut in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Mrs Eula McGrady was the informant on her death certificate.
     
     
  8. Maude Marie Crowder was born 04 October 1901 in Hopkins County, Texas and died 24 May 1965 in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas (death certificate). She married Edgar Monroe Stanley 05 July 1919 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 15, p 482). He was the son of John S. and Emma Stanley. Edgar was born 30 October 1899 in Texas (most likely in Collin County) and died 29 April 1969 in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas (death certificate). They are buried in Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo, Tom Green County, Texas.
     
     

Izoda "Zodie" (Taylor) Crowder died 17 September 1913 in Hopkins County, Texas. She is buried in Como Cemetery in Como, Hopkins County, Texas

Samuel Houston Crowder married (2) Mrs. Sue Wood 15 July 1919 in Hopkins County, Texas (Vol 15, p 486).
