Edgar Brook Tinlin.  Born in 1854 in Yarmouth, Ontario, son of Brook and Elizabeth (Betran) Tinlin [cen., AS, marr. cert.].  In 1871 he was living with his parents in Yarmouth, East Elgin Co., Ontario [cen.].  He married Mary E. Jones on 9 Sep 1875 in Aylmer District, Ontario [cert.].  She was born c. 1858 in Yarmouth, daughter of Nathan and Gertrude Jones [marr. cert.].  In 1881 they were living in Malahide, East Elgin Co., Ontario [cen.].  He died 8 Jan 1897 in St. Thomas, Ontario, bur. St. Thomas West Avenue Cemetery, Yarmouth, Elgin Co., Ontario [ODR, OCFA].  She married 2nd Berton Hamilton [cen.].  She died 15 Dec 1900, age 42, bur. Edgar Scott Tinlin.  Born 24 Sep 1881 in Loudon Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio, son of George Scott and Mary Catherine (Simmons) Tinlin [VR, cen.].  In 1900 he was living with his parents in Carrollton, Carroll Co., Ohio and was working as a photographer [cen.].  He married Mary O. Cooke on 12 Aug 1903 in Lebanon, Warren Co., Ohio [cen., obit. says Mary Colburn Cook].   She was born 19 Sep 1882 in Lebanon, Wilson Co., Tennessee, daughter of Clark and Alice (Smith) Cooke [CRM].  In 1910 they were living in Carrollton, Carroll Co., Ohio, and he was working as a photographer [cen.].  In 1920 they were living in Carrollton [cen.].  In 1930 they were living in Carrollton and he was working as an automobile mechanic [cen.].  She died 17 Sep 1930 in Carroll Co., Ohio [CRM].  In Aug 1947 he was living in Carrollton [CRM].  He died 11 Jul 1963 in Carroll Co., Ohio [ODI].  Children: George Scott, Harry C., Alice Catherine., Herbert Ortin Jr.

Edith Sarah Tinlin.  Born 12 Mar 1864 in Iowa, daughter of William and Sarah (Pettit) Tinlin [cen., CC].  In 1870 she was living with her parents in Deerfield Twp., Vernon Co., Missouri [cen.].  In 1880 she was living with her parents in Coal, Vernon Co., Missouri [cen.].  She married William Shadrack Cheek on 26 Dec 1886 [cen., CC].  He was born 7 Feb 1849 in Washington Co., Illinois, son of Robert Roger and Elizabeth (Williams) Cheek [cen., CC]. They were living in Vernon Co., Missouri in 1920 [cen.].  Cannot locate in 1930 census.  He died 25 Feb 1941 in Deerfield, Missouri [CC, RLC].  She died 11 Oct 1941 in Deerfield, Missouri [CC, RLC].

 

Edmond Tinlin.  Born in 1924 in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, son of William Pringle and Rachael (Walker) Tinlin [MT, FS, STV].  He went with his parents to Australia as a boy, but moved back to Scotland with his mother [FS].  Probably the Edmond Tinlin who arrived in New York City, age 4 [NYP 1902-43].  He married Sarah McTaggart c. 1945 [FS].  They divorced 25 years later [STV].  He was living in Scotland in 2001 [FS].  She died in Nov 2003 [STV].  Children: Thomas Walker Heron, William, Lillian, Matthew, Isabella Findlay, Rachel, Edmond, Sadie Walker.

 

Edmond Tinlin.  Born [DR], son of Edmond and Sarah (McTaggart) Tinlin [BTS, STV].  He was living in Stirling, Scotland in 2001-3 [NT, dir.].  He married 1st Rhoda ______ [STV].  They divorced a year later [STV].  He married 2nd Christine ______ [STV].  They later divorced [STV].  He married 3rd Janice ______ [STV].  In 1997 he was living in Scotland and working at a company called Zeneca, “17 miles from his home” [Internet].

 

Edmond Tinlin.  Son of Thomas Walker Heron and Etta (Derks) Tinlin [STV].  He married Margaret ______ [STV].  Children: daughter.

Edmund Tinlin.  Born 15 Jan 1809 at the Wallington Broomhouse, Hartburn Parish, Northumberland, son of William and Elizabeth (Yellowley) Tinlin [reg.].  Chr. 21 Jan 1809 at the Great Bavington Presbyterian Church, Northumberland [reg.].   In Jun 1836 he was a witness at the marriage of his brother James [reg.].  Possibly the Edmund “Tinby” or “Tilby” living in Hornscastle, West Whelpington in 1841 [cen.].   In 1851 he was living with his father in Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland, was unmarried, and was working as an agricultural laborer [cen.].  He died in Apr 1860, age 51, when his residence had been Kirkwhelpington, and was bur. 25 Apr 1860 in Kirkwhelpington [reg.].

 

Edmund Tinlin.  Born 1st quarter 1856 in Bolam, Northumberland, and chr. there 23 Feb 1856, son of James and Isabella (Brodie) Tinlin [CR, reg., cen.].  In 1871 he was living with his sister Margaret in Cramlington, Northumberland, working as an apprentice tailor [cen.].  He was living with his parents in Black Callerton, Northumberland in 1881, working as a roadman laborer [cen.].  He married Jane Lyall in 1st quarter 1886 in Castle Ward District [CR, BVRI].  She was born c. 1863 in Gosforth, Northumberland, daughter of James and Alice Lyall [cen.].  They were living in Dinnington, Northumberland in Feb 1887 [BVRI].  In 1891 they were living in West Brunton, Northumberland and he was working as a general laborer [cen.].  In 1901 they were living in West Brunton District, Northumberland and he was working as a general laborer [cen.].  He died in 2nd quarter 1945 in Northumberland Central District, age 89 [CR].  She is probably the Jane Tinlin who died in 4th quarter 1945 in Northumberland Central District, age 85 [CR].  Children: James Lyall, Isabella, (probably Margaret).

 

Edmund Tinlin.  Born 3 Jul 1859 in Bolam, Northumberland, and chr. there 28 Aug 1859, son of John and Jane (Nichol) Tinlin [CR, cert., reg.].  In 1861 he was living with his parents in Bolam Hillhead, Northumberland [cen.].  In 1871 he was living with his uncle James Nichol in Overacres, Otterburn, Northumberland [cen.].  In 1881 he was unmarried and living with his uncle James Nichol in South Middleton, Northumberland, working as a bootmaker [cen.]. He married Mary Pringle on 20 May 1886 in Bolam [CR, MT, son’s birth cert. says 29 May].  She was born 28 Nov 1864 in England [MT, cen.].  In 1890 they were living at The Arcade, Belsay, Northumberland, and he was working as a shoemaker [son’s birth cert.].  Not listed in 1891 Northumberland census index. They were living in Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1895.  In Sep 1897 they were living at Millside, Bothwell, Lanarkshire, and he was working as a roadsman in a coal pit [son’s birth cert.].  In 1901 they were living in Bothwell, and he was working as a pit roadsman [cen.].  He died 17 Jul 1958 in Australia [KT].  Children: John, Jane, Edmund, James, William Pringle, James (2nd), Andrew, Thomas, George Eliott.

 


Edmund Tinlin.  Born 22 Mar 1890 at The Arcade, Belsay, Northumberland, son of Edmund and Mary (Pringle) Tinlin [cert.].  In 1901 he was living with his parents in Bothwell, Lanarkshire [cen.].  He married Isabella Lindsay in 1916 in New South Wales, Australia [NSW].  He died c. 1968 [JDT]. Children: Mary I.

 

Edmund Tinlin.  Born 4th quarter 1890 in Cambo, Northumberland, son of William and Ann (Laws) Tinlin [cen., CR].  He was living with his parents at the Wallington Broomhouse in 1891 [cen.].  In 1901 he was living in Kirkwhelpington with his parents [cen.].  He married Margaret A. Horsfall in 1st quarter 1914 in Chester-le-Street District (Durham) [CR].  She was born c. 1889 [calc.].  He died in 4th quarter 1961 in Gateshead District (Durham), age 71 [CR].  She died in 4th quarter 1964 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, age 75 [CR].  Children: Ellen, Edmund, John.

(Horsfall) Tinlin [CR].  He married Evelyn Allan in 2nd quarter 1940 in Durham North West District [CR].  She was born 20 May 1919 [CR].  He died in 1st quarter 1983 in Durham North District [CR].  She died in or shortly before May 1999 in Durham Central District [CR].  Children: Yvonne.

 

Edmund Tinlin.  Born 9 Jan 1926 in Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, Australia son of Andrew and Mary H. (Weir) Tinlin [NAA, JDT].  He married 1st Joan Theresa Frances Anthony in 1945 in New South Wales [NSW].  She died when her son Anthony was 10 [TT].  He married 2nd Netta Rose Millgate [TT].  He died c. 1 May 2001 in Australia [JDT].  She is also deceased [TT].  Children by Joan Theresa Frances Anthony: Anthony, Maria.  Children by Netta Rose Millgate: Michael, Margaret, David, Peter, Anne.

 

Edna A. Tinling.  Born in Sep 1882 in Maine, daughter of John and Emma (Travis) Tinling [cen.]. In 1900 she was living with her parents in Brewer, Penobscot Co., Maine [cen.].  She married Fred F. Merritt on 5 Nov 1902 in Maine [Internet].  At the time they were both living in Houlton, Aroostook Co., Maine [Internet].  He was born c. 1877 in Maine, son of Charles D. and Hannah A. Merritt [cen.].  She died c. 1911-20 [cen.].  He and their children and her parents were living in Seattle, King Co., Washington in 1920 [cen.].  In 1930 he was living with their children in Rolling Bay, Kitsap Co., Washington, working as a salesman for a paper company [cen.].

Edward Tindling.  Married Sara Spour on 21 May 1741 in Mitford Parish, Northumberland [IGI]. Living in Mitford Parish in Jul 1742 [IGI].  They were living in Mitford in 1743-52, but their other children were christened as Tindle, Tinedale, and Tindale, so Tindling may not be their real name [IGI].  Children: Mary [,George, Jane, Henry, Thomas].

 

Edward Tinling.  Chr. 8 Jun 1724 in Haltwhistle Parish, Northumberland, son of Thomas and Ann Tinling of Broomhouses, Haltwhistle Parish [reg.].  He was a churchwarden for Haltwhistle Parish in 1767 [reg.].  Apparently the Edward Tinling who signed a will dated 3 Nov 1769 [MP].  He was living at Broomhouses in 1777 [reg.].  He was bur. on 15 Aug 1789 in Haltwhistle Parish, at which time his residence had been Broomhouses [reg.].  His will was proved 22 Jan 1790 [MP].  He apparently died childless, as he left all his estate to his siblings [MP].

 

Edward Tinlin.  Chr. 20 Mar 1740 in Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland, son of Robert and Ann (Garlick) Tinlin [IGI].  He married 1st Anne Stobbs on 8 May 1770 in Whitley Chapel, Northumberland [reg.].  At the time, they were both living in Whitley Chapel [reg.].  She apparently died in childbirth, and was bur. 19 Apr 1771 in Whitley Chapel, at which time their residence was High Dalton [reg.].  He married 2nd Mary Bell on 5 Jun 1773 in Whitley Chapel [reg.].  He was bur. 31 Jan 1827 in Whitley Chapel, age 89 [reg.].  She was bur. 27 Mar 1833 in Whitley Chapel, age 90 [reg.].  At the time of their deaths, they had been living at Dotland Fell House [reg.].  Children by first wife: Robert.

 

Edward Tinling.  Chr. 20 Jan 1751 in Brampton Parish, Cumberland, son of Hector and Jane (Waugh) Tinling [reg.].  He was bur. 19 Dec 1752 in Brampton Parish [reg.].

 

Edward Tinling.  Chr. 11 Dec 1755 in Brampton Parish, Cumberland, son of Hector and Jane (Waugh) Tinling [reg.].  He married Mary Addison on 17 Dec 1783 in Lanercost Parish, Cumberland [IGI].  They had banns published in Brampton Parish on 30 Nov, 7 Dec, and 14 Dec 1783, when he was living in Brampton and she was living in Abbey Lanercost [reg.].  They were living in Brampton Parish, Cumberland in Aug 1784, Jan 1804 [reg.].  He was a butcher [reg.].  He was bur. 24 Mar 1807 in Brampton, aged 52 [reg.].  Children: John, Edward.

 

Edward Tinling.  Chr. 16 Jul 1769 in Haltwhistle Parish, Northumberland, son of Thomas and Hannah (Coatsworth) Tinling of Park Houses, Haltwhistle Parish [reg.].  He married Jane Dodd on 1 Oct 1791 in Haltwhistle Parish [reg.].  At the time, they were both living in Haltwhistle Parish [reg.].  He was a yeoman [reg.].  They were living in Widon Eals, Haltwhistle Parish in Nov 1791, Hill House Close, Halwhistle in Mar 1793, Dec 1794, in Featherstone Row Foot, Haltwhistle in Nov 1797, Apr 1799 and in Haydon Bridge Parish, Northumberland in May 1804, Sep 1806, Nov 1808 [reg.].  He worked as a stone mason in Haydon Bridge Parish [reg.].  They were witnesses at their daughter Ann’s wedding in Hexham Parish in 1818 [reg.].  In 1838, he was listed as a mason [son’s marriage cert.].  Children: William, Ann, Thomas, Hannah, Edward, Humphrey Dodd, Jane, Mary, John, Nicholas, Margaret, Elizabeth.

Edward Tinling.  Chr. 20 Aug 1809 in Saint James’, Manchester, Lancashire, son of Hector and Ellen (Wright) Tinling [IGI].  He married Isabella Lloyd on 15 Apr 1830 in the Cathedral, Manchester [IGI].  She was born c. 1811 in Manchester [cen.].  They were living in Manchester, Lancashire in May 1831, Aug 1834, Sep 1836, Jun 1838, Jun 1843, Nov 1844 [IGI].  In 1850 they were living at 27 Bedford Street, Salford, Lancashire, and he was working as a joiner [dir.].  He died 8 May 1861 in E. Robert Street, Greengate, Salford [CR, FHO].  In 1871 and 1881 she was living in Salford, Lancashire, a widow [cen.].  She died 1st quarter 1889 in Salford District (Lancashire), age 78 [CR].  Children: John Lloyd, [Mary?], William, Sarah Ellen, Nathaniel, Susannah, Alice, Thomas, [Emma, Elizabeth, “Female”?].

They were living in Billingham, Durham in May 1836, Nov 1838, and Oct 1841 [IGI].   In 1851 and 1855 they were living in Stranton, Durham, and he was working as a coal trimmer [cen., son’s death cert.].  He died 2nd quarter 1869 in Hartlepool District (Durham) [CR].  In 1881 she was living in Stranton, Durham [cen.].  She died 4th quarter 1881 in Hartlepool District (Durham), age 82 [CR].  Children: Isabella, Robert, Sarah, Joseph.

Elizabeth Tinling.  Born in 1743, probably in Minorca, daughter of Isaac John and Johanne (Stubbs) Tinling [O’Byrne, Hodgson, NH, HF (latter two say born 1744)].  She married Lt.-Gen. George Rochfort of the Royal Artillery, not later than 1767, probably in Gibraltar or Minorca [Hodgson, NH, GW].  He was born c. 1737, the son of Arthur Rochfort, M.P. for Westmeath, by his wife Sarah Singleton, and was a nephew of Robert Rochfort, 1st Earl of Belvedere [GW, Burke’s, obit.].  He was the Chief Fire Marshall to the Royal Laboratory [obit.].  In 1770 they were living in Belfield, Westmeath, Ireland [Internet, birthplace of daughter].  One of their daughters was married in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in 1784 [Internet].  He died 24 Feb 1821at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich, Kent, age 83 [London Times, 3 Mar 1821, pg. 4, Gentleman’s Magazine, 1821 vol. 1, pg. 282].  She died 8 May 1832 in London, age 89 [London Times, 10 May 1832, page 7].

Whitmore [GW].  He was Deputy Commissary-General in Barbados in 1811 [GW].  She died in 1811, probably in Barbados [GW].  A William Whitmore married in 1811 in Barbados [IGI].  [See PRO for 1856 will of William Whitmore].

 

Elizabeth Tinlin.  Born 15 Mar 1790 in Broomhouse, Maxton, Roxburghshire, daughter of James and Elisabeth (Hunter) Tinlin [reg.].  She was living in Gattonside Village, Melrose, Roxburghshire in 1861, working as a dressmaker [cen.].  She was listed as married, but this might be a misreading [cen.].  She died in 1868 in Melrose District, Roxburghshire, age 77 [SCVL].

Elizabeth Tinline.  Born 25 Jul 1813, and chr. 12 Sep 1813 in Melrose, Roxburghshire, daughter of George and Margaret (Dickieson) Tinline [reg. trans.].  She married John Reid on 14 Nov 1847 in Edinburgh [SCR as Tinland].  He was a boot and shoe maker [her death cert.].  She died 30 Oct 1878 at 35 Leith Street, Edinburgh, age 64 [cert.].  He survived her [her death cert.].

 

Elizabeth Tinlin.  Chr. 28 Aug 1814 in Allendale Parish, Northumberland, daughter of Robert and Sarah (Stobbs) Tinlin [IGI].  She died in 1816 at age 1 and a half and was bur. 27 Apr 1816 in Allendale [reg. trans.].

 

Elizabeth Tinling.  Born 10 Nov 1815 in Grenada, daughter of Isaac John and Elizabeth Bynoe (Evelyn) Tinling [reg.].  She married William James Reece on 10 Sep 1833 in Christ Church (also in St. Thomas, Barbados?) [reg., IGI].  At the time of their marriage, he was living in Christ Church, and she was living in St. Michaels [reg.].  He was chr. 23 Nov 1807 in St. Thomas, Barbados, son of Abraham and Sarah Elizabeth (Bayley) Reece [IGI].  He lived at Wilcox Plantation, Barbados [Brandow].  They were living in Christ Church in 1835, in St. Thomas in 1837-47, and again in Christ Church in 1848-58 [IGI].  She was killed getting out of a train at night at Windsor Station, Barbados [Brandow].

Elizabeth Tinlin.  Born 2 May 1817 in Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland, daughter of William and Elizabeth (Yellowley) Tinlin [reg.].  Chr. 10 May 1817 at the Great Bavington Presbyterian Church [reg.].  In 1841, 1851, and 1861 she was living with her father in Kirkwhelpington, was unmarried, and had no occupation [cen.].  In 1850 she was living in Kirkwhelpington, and was called a “simple woman” [reg.].  Possibly married William Wilkinson, living in Kirkwhelpington in 1871 [cen.]  Children: Esther.

 

Elizabeth “Betsy” Tinling.  Born 14 Sep 1809 in London, chr. 24 Sep 1809 in St. Leonards, Shoreditch, London, daughter of Joseph and Martha (Webber) Tinling [IGI under Tinley].  She was living with her mother in West Derby, Lancashire in 1851, working as a seamstress [cen. (FHO under Elizabeth Finling)].  In 1871 she was living with her sister Charlotte in West Derby, was unmarried, and working as a sempstress [cen.].  In 1881 she was living in West Derby, Lancashire, and was unmarried [cen.].  In 1891 she was living in West Derby, and was a retired schoolmistress [cen.].  She died 2nd quarter 1898 in Ormskirk District (Lancashire), age 88 [CR].  [In several of the census records she shaved 10 years off of her age.]

Elizabeth Tinlin.  Born c. 1818 in Edinburgh, daughter of James and Jean (Johnston) Tinlin [marr. and death certs., cen.].  She married Thomas Cribbes on 19 Jul 1867 at 3 Eyre Place, Edinburgh, Midlothian [cert.].  At the time of their marriage, he was living at 17 Veitch’s Square and she at 16 Veitch’s Square in Edinburgh [cert.].  He was born c. 1820 in Edinburgh, son of Robert and Marian (Paterson) Cribbes, was a widower, and was working as a coppersmith’s laborer [marr. cert.].  In 1881 they were living in St. Mary’s, Edinburgh, and he was working as a coppersmith [cen.].  He predeceased her [her death cert.].  She died 31 Mar 1908 at the Craigleith Poorhouse, St. George, Edinburgh, age 89 [cert.].

 

Elizabeth Tinling.  Married William Horton on 15 Aug 1843 in Penn, Staffordshire [CR, IGI].  They were living in Penn in 1844-47 [IGI].  [Possibly the Elizabeth Horton, born c. 1823 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, living with her husband in Birmingham in 1881?  Or the William and Elizabeth Horton living in St. Johnsbury, Vermont in 1880, both born in England, with a son William T. Horton of the right age?].

Elizabeth Tinlin.  Chr. 28 May 1826 at St. Andrew’s, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, daughter of Thomas and Isabella (Richardson) Tinlin [IGI].  Probably the Elizabeth Tinlin who married Stephen O. Graham in 2nd quarter 1850 in All Saints, Newcastle-upon-Tyne [CR, NRO].  He is not listed in 1871 in Northumberland [cen.].  Cannot locate in 1881 UK or Canadian, or 1880 US censuses [cen.].

 

Elisabeth Tinline.  Born 27 Jun 1830 in Kildonan, Sutherland, daughter of William and Katherine (MacPherson) Tinline [IGI under Tunline].  She apparently died young, as a younger sister was also named Elizabeth.

 


Elizabeth Tinlin.  Born c. 1830 not in Durham, daughter of Robert and Jane (Turnbull) Tinlin [cen.].  She was living with her parents in Seaham Harbour, Durham in 1841 [cen.].  She married Henry Ellemor in 1st quarter 1850 in Easington District (Durham) [CR, Internet].  They were living in Seaham Harbour in 1850, and in Sunderland, Durham in 1852-53 [IGI].  Two of their children were living with her sister Jane Burn in 1871 [cen.].  Cannot locate them on 1881 or 1891 UK census index.

 

Elisabeth Tinline.  Born 15 Jan 1835 and chr. 10 Apr 1835 in Bowden, Roxburghshire, daughter of John and Janet (Bell) Tinline [reg., cen.].   In 1841 she was living with her parents in Bowden [cen.].  In 1851 she was living with her parents in Bowden [cen.].  In 1861 she was living with her father in Bowden, was unmarried, and working as a dressmaker [cen.].  In 1871 she was living in Bowden, was unmarried and working as a dressmaker [cen.].  In 1881 she was unmarried and living in Bowden, working as a dressmaker [cen.].  In 1891 she was living in Bowden, was unmarried and working as a dressmaker [cen.].  In 1901 she was living in Bowden [cen.].  She died in 1910 in Bowden District, age 75 [SCVL].

 

Elizabeth Tinline.  Born 7 Dec 1836 in Peebles, Peebleshire, daughter of James and Isabella (Turnbull) Tinline [SCR].  She married Robert Dickson on 7 Jul 1867 in Traquair, Peebleshire and on 12 Jul 1867 in Peebles, Peebleshire [SCR, SCVL].  He was a joiner [her death cert.].  She died 24 Jan 1893 in Aberlady, Haddingtonshire, age 56 [cert.].  Her husband survived her [her death cert.].

 

Elizabeth Tinling.  Born 1st quarter 1840 in Catton, Northumberland and christened 8 Mar 1840 in Allendale Parish, Northumberland,  daughter of Humphrey Dodd and Elizabeth (Parker) Tinling of Catton [CR, IGI, MP, cen.].  In 1851 she was living with her parents in Elswick, Newcastle-upon-Tyne [cen.].  She married Thomas Smurthwaite on 3 Mar 1866 in St. Peter, Newcastle-upon-Tyne [cert.].  He was born c. 1841 in Murton, Durham, or Sedgefield, Northumberland, son of John Nicholson [cert., cen.].  At the time of their marriage, he was working as a joiner [cert.].  In 1871 they were living in Elswick, Northumberland and he was working as a foreman labourer [cen.].  In 1881 they were living in Adelaide Terrace, Benwell, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and he was working as a coal miner [cen. as Somerthwaite].  In 1891 they were living at 46 Kenilworth Rd., Elswick, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and he was working as a builder [cen.].  In 1901 they were living in Elswick and he was working as a builder [cen.].  She died 31 May 1922 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne [DMS].

[cert.].  She died 28 Aug 1922 in Comiston (?) Road, Edinburgh, , age 66, when her usual residence had been 57 James Street, Ailrig (?), Edinburgh [cert.].  Her husband survived her [her death cert.].

Elizabeth Tinling.  Born c. 1873 in Stanwix, Cumberland, daughter of Edward and Margaret (Storey) Tinling [cen.].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Beckermet St. Bridget, Cumberland [cen.].  Cannot locate in 1891 census.  She married James Graham on 15 Nov 1893 in Blackford, Cumberland [CR, BVRI].  He was the son of James Graham [BVRI].

 

Elizabeth Tinlin.  Born 16 Apr 1873 in Milton, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, daughter of George and Mary (Hislop) Tinlin [SCVL, IGI].  In 1891 she was living with her parents in St. Andrew District, Edinburgh [cen.].  In 1901 she was living with her parents in St. Cuthbert, George Square, Edinburgh, was single, and was working as a railway bookstall assistant [cen.].  She married Robert Stevenson in 1901 in St. George, Edinburgh District [SCVL].  He was a stationmaster and predeceased her [her death cert.].  She died 11 Feb 1947 at 2 Greenfield Road, Springbrig (Springboig?), Lanarkshire, age 73 [cert.].

(Cowans) Tinlin [CR].  He married Emily Foulger in 1st quarter 1919 in Castle Ward District (Northumberland) [CR].  He died in 4th quarter 1964 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, age 72 [CR].  Children: Percival B., Ethel.

Esther Tinlin.  Born 22 Aug 1778 in Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Rutherford) Tinlin [IGI].  Chr. at Great Bavington Presbyterian Church, Northumberland [IGI].  She married Thomas Wilson on 4 Jul 1802 in Hartburn Parish, Northumberland [IGI].  They were living in the Great Bavington area from 1804-11 [IGI].

Esther Tinlin.  Born 3rd quarter 1843 in Seaham Harbor, Durham, daughter of Robert and Jane (Turnbull) Tinlin [CR, cen.].  In 1851 she was living with her parents in Seaham Harbor [cen.]. Probably the Esther Tinlin who died 1st quarter 1859 in Easington [CR].

[cen.].  She married George Edward Thew in 3rd quarter 1873 in Bellingham District [CR].  He was born c. 1851 in Swinhoe, Northumberland, son of Thomas and Jane Thew [cen.].  In 1881 they were living in the Porter’s Lodge, Gosforth, Northumberland, and he was working as a woodman [cen.].  In 1891 they were living at Low Gosforth Hall Lodge in North Gosforth, Northumberland, and he was working as a woodman [cen.].  In 1901 they were living in Newlands, Northumberland and he was working as a woodman [cen.].

 

Esther Tinlin.  Born 4th quarter 1865 in Seaham, Durham, (probably natural) daughter of ______ and Mary Tinlin [CR, cen.].   In 1881 she was living with her mother and step-father in Easington, Durham [cen.].  Probably the Esther Tinlin who married (either John Robert Gibson or James William Moore) in 2nd quarter 1890 in Hartlepool District (Durham) [CR].  Cannot locate on 1891 or 1901 census.

Esther Ann Tinlin.  Born 3rd quarter 1868 in Seaham Harbour, Durham, daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Straughair) Tinlin [CR, cen.].  In 1871 she was living with her parents in Seaham Harbour [cen.].  In 1881 she was living wth her parents in Kelloe, Durham [cen.].  In 1891 she was living with her mother in Stranton, Durham, and was unmarried [cen.].  She married Frank Welsh in 1st quarter 1895 in Hartlepool District (Durham) [CR].  He was born c. 1873 in Mere, Wiltshire [cen.].  In 1901 they were living in West Hartlepool, Durham and he was working as a gasworks laborer [cen.]. 

 

Esther Mary Tinline.  Born 25 Nov 1848 in North Adelaide, South Australia, daughter of George and Helen (Madder) Tinline [MGT, TF, Times marriage].  She attended Miss Ghémar’s Finishing School in Brussels, Belgium from 1863 [TF].  She married Frederick Button, Esq., of Durban, Natal on 23 Oct 1882 at St. James’ Church, Dover, Kent [CR, Times 26 Oct 1882, pg. 1, TF says 22 Oct].  His family was from Framlingham, Suffolk, and emigrated to South Africa in 1854 [TF].  He had been previously married and widowed [TF].  He was an administrator in the Kimberley Mines [TF].  She died of heart disease on 4 Dec 1887 in Durban, Natal [London Times, 8 Dec 1887, pg. 1].  He died 31 Oct 1907 at 1 Hyde Park Gate, London, the home of his sister-in-law, bur. Hampstead Cemetery, London [London Times, 2 Nov 1907, pg. 1].

Everard Tinling.  Born 15 Feb 1892 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, son of George William and Mary (Miller) Tinling [CR, IGI].  In 1901 he was living with his parents in Coxlodge District, Northumberland [cen.].  He married Ella Maud Gallant in 3rd quarter 1923 in Gravesend District (Kent) [CR].  She was born 1 Apr 1899 [CR].  They were living in Romford District (Essex) in 1926-34 [CR].  In Sep 1961and Nov 1967 they were living at Seven Trees, Cobham, Surrey [London Times, 9 Sep 1961, pg. 10].  She died in 4th quarter 1973 in Surrey Mid East District [CR].  He died in 4th quarter 1978 in Surrey North District [CR].  Children: Stella, Janet, Helen, Geoffrey, Ruth M.
