Tinling, Hastings, Barbados [EI].  In 1920 she was living with her brother Vivian at 145 Adelphi Street, Brooklyn, New York, was single, and was working as an operator in a glove factory [cen.].  She married Henry Alfred Moore [NH].  Cannot locate on 1930 census.  She died in Feb 1968 in Pinellas Co., Florida [SS, Anc.].  They had no children [NH].

Irene Constance Margaret Tinline.  Born 2nd quarter 1898 in Rockbeare, Devonshire, only daughter of James Madder and Constance Marie (Barker) Tinline [CR, London Times, cen.].  In 1901 she was living with her parents in East Teignmouth, Devon [cen.].    She married Captain Arthur Geoffrey Dunsterville on 3 Oct 1918 at St. John Baptist Church, Great Marlborough St., London [CR, London Times, 7 Oct 1918, pg. 1].  He was the only son of Col. Dunsterville, C.M.G. [London Times].  He was awarded the Order of the British Empire [London Gazette, 16 Apr 1940 (but it was not awarded on that date)].

 

Irene M. Tinling.  Born 10 Oct 1916 [AB].  Lived at one time in Colorado Springs, Colorado [AB].  [Probably related to David R. Tinling].

 

Irene Vera Tinling.  Born in 1881, daughter of Edward Brace and Elizabeth Campbell (Pollexfen) Tinling [NH].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Springfield, Selkirk Co., Manitoba [cen.].  She died in 1886 [NH].

 

Iris Tinling.  Born c. 1903 [calc.].  Arrived in New York City in March 1941 on the SS Oriente, when she was age 38 [NYP 1902-43].

In 1737 he was living in Dykesfield, Burgh by Sands [reg.].  He was bur. 27 Sep 1747 in Burgh by Sands, when his residence had been West-End [reg. (has 1750?), BT].  She was bur. 23 Sep 1750 in Burgh by Sands, when her residence had been West-End [BT].  Children: Jonathan, William, Mary.

 

Isaac Tinling.  Son of ______ and Elizabeth Tinling of Carlisle, Cumberland [her will].  He was living in 1751 [her will].

 

Isaac John Tinling, Esq.   One of his grandchildren said that the family was from the north of England [Internet].  He is first mentioned in 1738 in Minorca, where he was Carpenter of the British Board of Ordnance [NH, GW].  He married Johanne Stubbs [DT].  He died 12 Oct 1781 [NH].  She survived until at least 1798 (the Joan Tinling who died in 1804 in York?) [GW].  Children: Agnes, Elizabeth, John, William, Mary, Augusta, David Latimer, Isaac Pattison, Charles Ashley Stubbs, Johanna, George.

 

Isaac Tin(g)ling.  Chr. 2 Nov 1755 in St. Sepulchre, London, son of Nathan and Susanna (Murton) Tinling [IGI].  Possibly the Isaac Tinley who married Elizabeth Johnson on 18 Nov 1781 in St. Matthew Bethnal Green, London [IGI].

 

Isaac John Tinling.  An Ensign on the Irish half pay, late of the Irish brigade, disbanded in 1798 [AL 1809].

 

Isaac John Tinling.  Chr. 2 Apr 1788 at Holy Trinity, Gosport, Hampshire, age seven weeks, son of Jonathan (John) and Elizabeth (Robinson) Tinling [reg.].  He married Elizabeth Bynoe Evelyn on 23 Jun 1812 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.].  She was chr. 31 Jul 1793 in Christ Church, Barbados, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Bynoe) Evelyn [corr., IGI].  He succeeded his father as Storekeeper of Grenada in 1813 [GW].  In 1815 he transferred to Barbados and was Storekeeper in the Ordnance Office there [GW, reg.].  They were living in Christ Church in Dec 1816, Sep 1819, Apr 1822, Jan 1824, Jun 1825, Nov 1826 (in Cotton Coast), Jun 1833 (in Bridge Town) [reg.].  He was a Judge of the Assitant Court of Appeal [Brandow]. They were both bur. in 1871 in Christ Church, Barbados [reg.].  Children: John, Jane, Elizabeth, Charles, Widdrington, Sarah Ann, Edward Burnaby, Frederick, Joseph Packer Evelyn, Amelia.


 

Isaac John Tinling.  Born 17 Oct 1844, son of John and Caroline Waith (Evelyn) Tinling [NH, BBT].  He married Annie Jemima Armstrong on 15 Aug 1876 in Christ Church, Barbados [IGI].  She was born in 1847 [BBT].  She died 28 Jun 1909 [BBT].  He died 11 Jun 1921 [BBT].  They were both buried on the Colleton Estate, St. John’s, Barbados [BBT].  They had no children [NH].

 

Isaac John Tinling.  Chr. 19 Dec 1861 in Christ Church, Barbados, son of John and Caroline Waith (Evelyn) Tinling [IGI].  [Son of Frederick and Alice Evelyn (Phillips) Tinling according to NH, and that makes more sense chronologically].  He married Louise Medford in 3rd quarter 1885 in Kensington District (Middlesex) [NH, CR].  She was born c. 1858, had been previously married and had children by her first husband [EI].  Children: Edna Berrick, Noel Ormond, Ida Manning, Arthur Vernon, Mildred Gwendoline, Vivian Stanley.

 

Isaac Pattison Tinling, Major-Gen.  Born in 1760, probably in Gibraltar, son of Isaac John and Johanne (Stubbs) Tinling [O’Byrne, MI, NH].  Was an ensign in the 20th Regiment of Foot “The East Devonshire” from 1 Jun 1778 [AL (listed as Isaac Tingling)].  Made a Lieutenant on 3 Dec 1785 [AL].  Was a witness at the marriage of David Latimer Tinling and Sarah Teesdale on 1 Nov 1787 at St. Peter the Great, Chichester, Surrey [reg.].  From 1789 he was on duty in Nova Scotia and Jamaica [GW].  He took part in an assault on Fort l’Acul in San Domingo in Feb 1794 and was wounded [GW].  Made a Captain on 14 Mar 1794 [AL].  On his way back to England, he was captured by the French and spent a year in France as a prisoner of war before being exchanged [GW].  He married Mary Ann Adeane on 22 Dec 1795 in at St. Marylebone, Middlesex [reg.].  At the time of their marriage, both were living in St. Marylebone [reg.].  She was born c. 1766, daughter of Gen. James Whorwood  Adeane, M.P. (grandnephew of James Brydges, 1st Duke of Chandos) and Anne Jones [Burke's LG].  Transferred to the 1st Regiment of Foot (Grenadier Guards) on 24 Jan 1798 [AL (listed as Isaac Peter Tinling)].  Was a Captain in 1800 [BT - daughter’s chr.].  Promoted to Major on 1 Oct 1803 [Gentleman’s Magazine, 1803, part 2, pg. 1081].  They were living in St. Marylebone, Middlesex in 1804 [IGI]. Was a Lt.-Col. on 12 May 1804, when he was ranked 534 of 675, 1st Foot Guards Deputy Quarter-Master-General at Halifax, Nova Scotia [AL, Internet].  In 1807 he was still living in Halifax [cen.].  In 1809 he was ranked 344 of 671 in the same rank and service [AL].  He took part in the battles of Corunna on 16 Jan 1809 and Barrosa on 5 Mar 1811 [AL].  In 1811 he was ranked 181 of 631 and “joined the 1st Regiment” 14 Feb 1811 [AL].  In 1812 he was ranked 92 of 722 [AL].  In 1813 he was ranked 87 of 769 [AL].  He was made a Colonel on 4 Jun 1813 and was ranked 139 of 224 in 1814 [AL].  In Dec 1813 he was famously rebuked by the Duke of Wellington for allowing his officers to carry umbrellas in the rain while under enemy fire [GW].  In 1815 he was ranked 54 of 284 [AL].  In 1816 and 1817 he was ranked 53rd and had taken part in the battles at Peninsula and Waterloo [AL].   In 1819 he was ranked 47th and was in the Grenadier Guards, 1st Regiment [O’Byrne, AL]. On 12 Aug 1819 he was made a Major-General in the Grenadier Guards and was still in that position in 1821 [AL]. He died of dropsy on 22 Aug 1822 in Outream, Boulogne [Blackwood’s Magazine, Oct 1822, pg. 516; Book of Dignities, MI, GW says 28 Sep 1822].  She was living in Somerset in 1830 [Pigot’s Directory, page 681].  In 1841 she was living in Hampton Hill, Bath, Somerset [cen.].  She died 8 Jan 1848 at 18 Chapel St., Grosvenor Square, London [CR, London Times, 10 Jan 1848, pg. 7, Internet]. They were both bur. in Leckhampton, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, where there is a monumental inscription to them [Internet].  Children: William Frederick, Mary, Ann, James, Frances Wentworth.

Isobell Tinline.  Chr. 28 Aug 1720 in Hawick, Roxburghshire, daughter of Thomas and Jennet (Liddel) Tinline [reg.].

Isabel Tinline.  Born c. 1794, probably in Eckford, Roxburghshire, daughter of John and Elizabeth (King) Tinlin(e) [death cert. (not in Eckford reg.)].  She married Walter Irvine on 27 Sep 1818 in Ancrum, Roxburghshire [SCR, death cert.].  They were living in Cavers, Roxburghshire in 1821-23 [SCR]. He was a joiner master and predeceased his wife [her death cert.].  She died 3 Jun 1868 at the Poor House, Hawick, Roxburghshire, age 74, when she was listed as a pauper [cert.].

 

Isobel Tinline.  Born 3 May 1807 in Kirktown, Roxburghshire, daughter of Richard and Isabel (Oliver) Tinline [reg.].  At the time of her birth, her parents were living in Turn, Kirktown Parish [reg.].

 

Isabel Tinling.  Born 3rd quarter 1878 in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, daughter of William and Mary Ann (Walker) Tinlin(g) [CR].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Middlesbrough [cen. under Tenling].  In 1891 she was living with her parents in Middlesbrough [cen.].  In 1901 she was living with her parents in Middlesbrough [cen. as Isabella Imlin].  Married (as Isobel Tinlin) in 1st quarter 1904 in Middlesbrough District [CR].

Isabell Tindling.  [Possibly a daughter of Patrick and Anna (Robinson) Tinling.]  Married William Ferrar on 6 Nov 1705 in Norham Parish, Northumberland [reg.].  At the time of their marriage, both were living in Norham Parish [reg.].

 

Isabell Tinline.  Married 1st William Broun, a merchant [reg.].  He died and she married 2nd George Martain on 28 Apr 1713 in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire [reg.].  He was an “English School Master” [reg.]. 

 

Isabell Tinling.  Chr. 7 Nov 1726 in Haltwhistle Parish, Northumberland, daughter of Thomas and Ann Tinling of Broomhouses, Haltwhistle Parish [reg.].  She is apparently the Isabell Tinling of Broomhouses who was bur. on 10 Feb 1731 in Haltwhistle Parish [reg.].

 

Isabella Tinlin.  Chr. 22 Jul 1764 in Sunderland Parish, Durham, daughter of George and Isabella (Horn) Tinlin [IGI].

 

Isabella Tinline.  Born c. 1781-86 in Roxburghshire [cen.].  In 1841 she was living in Abbey Street, Melrose, Roxburghshire [cen.].

 

Isabella Tinling.  Chr. 10 Nov 1801 in Kirkwhelpington Parish, Northumberland, daughter of Mary Tinling [IGI].

 

Isabella Tinlin.  Born c. 1827 in Edinburgh, daughter of James and Jean (Johnston) Tinlin [father’s death cert., her death cert.].  Her father’s death certificate indicates that she died before Aug 1855, but this is a mistake [cert.].  She married Peter Farquharson on 5 Jun 1857 in Edinburgh, Midlothian [IGI].  He was born c. 1826 in Edinburgh [cen.].  She was present at her mother’s death in Feb 1871 in Edinburgh [mother’s death cert.].  In 1881 they were living in St. Cuthbert’s, Edinburgh, and he was working as a cabinetmaker [cen.].  She died 13 Jan 1899 at Caledonian Cottages, Dabry (?) Road, Edinburgh, age 75 [cert.].  Her husband survived her [cert.].

 

Isabella Tinlin.  Born c. 1827-8 in Sprouston, Roxburghshire, daughter of George and Janet (Bryden) Tinlin(e) [cen.].   In 1841 she was living with her parents in Lempitlaw East Field, Sprouston, Roxburghshire, working as an agricultural laborer [cen.].  In 1851 she was living with her parents in Muirdean, Makerston, Roxburghshire, working as a farm servant, and was unmarried [cen.].  In 1853 she had a natural son, Robert, by William Kerr in Makerston, Roxburghshire [SCR, her death cert.].  In 1861 she was living with her mother in Eastfield, Sprouston, Roxburghshire, was working as an agricultural laborer, and was unmarried [cen.].  In 1871 she was living in Eastfield, Sprouston, was unmarried, and was working as a domestic servant [cen.].  In 1881 she was living in Sprouston, was unmarried, and was working as a housekeeper [cen.].  In 1891 she was living in Limekiln House, Carham Station, Sprouston, Roxburghshire and was unmarried [cen.].  At that time, she said that her birthplace was Kelso, Roxburghshire [cen.].  She was living with her niece Margaret Armstrong in Kelso in 1901, unmarried, and a retired housekeeper, age 73 [cen.].  She died unmarried on 22 Jul 1907 in Maxwellhaugh, Kelso, age 76 [SCVL].

 

Isabella Tinling.  Chr. 21 Jun 1829 in Allendale Parish, Northumberland, daughter of William and Elizabeth Tinling [IGI]. 

 

Isabella Tinline.  Chr. 22 Apr 1830 in Melrose, Roxburghshire, daughter of George and Margaret (Dickieson) Tinline [SCR].  In 1851 she was living with her father in Bowden, Roxburghshire [cen.].  She married Thomas Henderson on 29 Aug 1854 in St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh [AE, cert.]. At the time her residence was Bowden, and his was St. Cuthberts [AE, cert.]. He was born c. 1835 in Scotland [AE].  He was a joiner [cert.].  In 1856 they were living at 43 Carnegie St., Edinburgh [AE].  He died 29 Jan 1875 in Newcastle [MCK].  She was living in Elswick, Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1881 and 1891 [AE].  She died 26 Sep 1899 in Newcastle, age 69 [MCK].  They were both bur. in St. John’s, Westgate and Elswick Cemetery [MCK].

 

Isabella Tinlin.  Chr. 23 May 1833 in Billingham, Durham, daughter of Edward and Ann (Coxon) Tinlin [IGI under Linlin].  She died 3rd quarter 1850 in Stockton District (Durham) [CR].

 

Isabella Tinlin.  Born c. 1841 in Crailing, Roxburghshire, daughter of Robert and Isabel (Oliver) Tinlin [cen., SCR].  Chr. 19 Sep 1841 in the Associate Congregation or Free Church, Jedburgh, Roxburghshire [SCR].  In 1851 she was living with her mother and step-father in Roxburgh, Roxburghshire [cen.].  In 1861 she was living with her mother in Dolphinston, Oxnam, Roxburghshire, was unmarried, and was working as a domestic servant [cen.].  She had a natural son christened in Oxnam, Roxburghshire in Feb 1862, his “reputed father” being Walter Elliot [IGI, son’s marr. cert.].  She married William Laidlaw on 24 Jun 1870 in Overton Bush, Edgerston, Roxburghshire [cert.]. He was born c. 1845, son of Alexander and Isabella (Oliver) Laidlaw [cert.].  At the time of their marriage he was living in Messburnford, Jedburgh and was working as a telegraph foreman and she was living in Overton Bush, Edgerston Parish, working as a farm servant [cert.].  He later worked as a woodman and predeceased her [her death cert.].  She died 10 Jun 1907 at 4 Wilton Crescent, Hawick, Roxburghshire, age 64 [cert.].  Natural child: Robert.

 

Isabella Tinlin.  Married William James Hopps in 3rd quarter 1874 in Durham District (Durham) [CR].  She may have died before 1881 [cen.].  Unable to locate her in 1881 or 1891 censuses (but there are possibilities for her husband).  He is probably the William James Hopps who died in 3rd quarter 1893 in Durham District, age 57 [CR].

 

Isabella Tinline.  Born 13 May 1858 at 23 Shedden Park Road, Kelso, Roxburghshire, daughter of James D. and Mary (Jack) Tinline [cert.].  In 1861 she was living with her parents in Kelso [cen.].  In 1871 she was living with her parents in Kelso [cen.].  She immigrated to Canada in 1873 [cen.].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Orford, Bothwell Co., Ontario [cen.].   She married Robert Hogg on 23 Dec 1886 in Binbrook District, Ontario [OMR, JER].  She married Robert Clark Hogg on 25 May 1892 in Thamesville, Kent Co., Ontario [marr. rec.].  He was born 24 Jul 1853 in Oneida, Ontario, son of John and Margaret (Miller) Hogg [marr. rec.].  At the time of their marriage, he was living in Orford, working as a farmer, and was a widower, and she was living in Orford [marr. rec.].  In 1901 they were living in Orford, Elgin Co., Ontario, and he was working as a farmer [cen.].  [Not sure why they have two marriage records.]

 

Isabella Tinlin (or Scott).  Born 3 Oct 1859 in Yarrow, Selkirkshire, daughter of Alexander and Agnes (Scott) Tinlin [IGI].  Her parents married the year after her birth.  In 1861 she was living with her parents in Linton Parkhead, Ashkirk, Roxburghshire [cen.].  She died in 1878 in Selkirk District, age 18 [SCVL].

 

Isabella Tinlin.  Born 20 Dec 1862 in Linton, Roxburghshire, daughter of George and Jamima (Scott) Tinlin [JT, cen.].  In 1871 she was living with her parents in Over Roxburgh, Roxburgh [cen.].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Roxburgh, Roxburghshire [cen.].  In May 1887 she was living at Haymount, Makerston, working as a domestic servant [son’s birth cert.].  She died of typhoid fever on 22 Dec 1890 at Bonjedward Mill, Jedburgh, age 28 [cert.].  At the time of her death, she had been working as a farm outworker [cert.].  Children: Andrew (Tinline).

 

Isabella Tinline.  Born 28 Feb 1863 in Ontario, daughter of Francis and Elizabeth (Brims) Tinline [cen.].  In 1871 she was living with her father in South Wentworth, Ontario [cen.].  In 1881 she was living with her father in Binbrook, South Wentworth Co., Ontario [cen.].  She married William Stewart [GP].  He was born 13 Oct 1857 in Ontario [cen.].  In 1901 they were living in Binbrook, and he was working as a farmer [cen.].  He died in 1907 [GP].  She died in 1936 [GP].  They were both bur. in Knox Presbyterian Cemetery, Binbrook [GP].

 

Isabella Tinline.  Born 17 Jun 1868 at 27 Bank Street, Galashiels, Selkirkshire, daughter of James and Margaret (Hardie) Tinline [cert.].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Galashiels [cen.].  In 1891 she was living with her parents in Galashiels District [cen.].  She married William Hope on 31 Mar 1898 at Ladhope Free Church Manse, Galashiels [cert.].  He was born c. 1872, son of Adam and Margaret (Balmer) Hope [marr. cert.].  At the time of their marriage, he was living at 105 Causewayside, Newington, Edinburgh, working as a mason journeyman, and she was living at 42 Huddersfield Street, Galashiels, working as a housekeeper [cert.].

 

Isabella Tinline.  Born 21 Jun 1870 in Sprouston, Roxburghshire, daughter of George and Margaret (Davidson) Tinline [cen., IGI].  In 1871 she was living with her parents in New Holefield, Sprouston, Roxburghshire [cen.].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Makerston, Roxburghshire [cen.].  In 1891 she was living with her parents in Friarlaw House, Sprouston, Roxburghshire, was unmarried, and was working as an agricultural laborer [cen.].  In 1901 she was living in Coldstream, Berwickshire [cen.].  She married Robert Weatherstone on 2 Dec 1904 at the West United Free Church Manse, Coldstream, Berwickshire [cert.].  He was born c. 1870, son of John and Jessie (Colville) Weatherstone [marr. cert.].  At the time of their marriage, he was living at Quarry Cottage, Duns Road, Coldstream, working as a gardener, and she was living at Hope Park, Coldstream working as a domestic servant [cert.].  He was still living in Feb 1930 [brother-in-law’s death cert.].

Isabella Tinlin.  Born 28 Jun 1874 in Edgerston, Roxburghshire, daughter of William and Agnes (Mitchelhill) Tinlin [IGI, cen. says born in Oxnam].  In 1881 she was living with her mother in Oxnam [cen.].  In 1891 she was living with her mother in Edgerston, Roxburghshire and was working as a general servant [cen.].  In Sep 1896 she was living in Camptown, Jedburgh, working as a domestic servant [son’s birth cert.].  She married John Scott in 1899 in Edgerston District [SCVL].  She died 30 Dec 1928 at the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, age 54 [cert.].  Her husband survived her and was living at Darling Field, Gordon at the time of her death [cert.].  Children: William (Tinlin).

Isabella Brown Kennedy Tinline.  Born 21 Dec 1881 in the Poor House, Hawick, Roxburghshire, natural daughter of Alison Tinline (apparently by a man named Kennedy) [Kirkton cert., also registered in Hawick].  In 1881 she was an inmate of the Combination Poorhouse at Hawick with her mother [cen. (suggests born c. Oct 1880?)].  She died in 1883 in Torpichen District, age 2 [SCVL].

Isabella Hume Tinlin.  Chr. 14 Mar 1847 in Gatton, Melrose, Roxburghshire, daughter of Thomas and Charlotte (Tait) Tinline [SCR, cert.].  In 1851 she was living with her parents in Gattonside, Melrose [cen.].  In 1861 she was living with her father in Gattonside, Melrose [cen.].  She married George Smith on 29 Jun 1877 in Gattonside, Melrose, Roxburghshire [cert.].  He was born c. 1841, son of James and Margaret (Inglis) Smith [cert.].  Her residence at the time of marriage was Dimsdalehaugh, Selkirkshire [cert.].  She died 21 Dec 1912 in the District Asylum, Melrose, Roxburghshire, age 65 (usual residence Thornfield Lodge, Ashkirk) [cert.].  Her husband survived her, and was a retired gardener at the time of her death [her death cert.].

Isabella Jane Tinline.  Born 15 Feb 1833 and chr. 5 Apr 1833 in Bowden, Roxburghshire, daughter of John and Janet (Bell) Tinline [reg.].  In 1841 she was living with her parents in Bowden, Roxburghshire [cen.].  She married Robert Aitchison on 27 May 1857 in Minto, Roxburghshire [IGI]. They were living in Ballinrobe, Mayo, Ireland in Sep 1866 [BVRI].  He was a farmer and predeceased her [her death cert.].  She died 30 Apr 1905 at Little Balsier (?), Wigtownshire, age 72 [cert.].

Isabella Whyte Tinlin.  Born 8 Jan 1869 in Doune, Kilmadock, Perthshire, daughter of Andrew and Isabella (White) Tinlin [cert.].  In 1881 she was living with her parents in Kilmadock [cen.].  She married William Edward Headlam in 4th quarter 1896 in Thanet District (Kent) [CR].  He was born c. 1870 in Doncaster, Yorkshire [cen.].  In 1901 they were living in Margate, Kent, and he was working as a cab driver groom [cen.].  She died 20 Jan 1953 [JT].

 

Iva P. Tinlin.  Born c. 1901 in Ohio, daughter of Elmer John and Mary J. (Stoneman) Tinlin [cen. (did not see in VR)].  In 1910 she was living with her parents in Fox Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio [cen.].  She was living with her parents in 1920 in Fox Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio [cen.].  She married Clarence L. Ray in c. 1922 [cen.].  He was born c. 1901 in Ohio [cen.].  In 1930 they were living in Center Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio and he was working as a meter reader [cen.].  In Dec 1955 she was (or they were) living in Minerva, Stark Co., Ohio [CRM].
