Where Do I Begin??

I was born in Jefferson Co. New York,
but now I realize that was not my beginning.
I became interested in Genealogy as a teenager.
I would listen to all the older family members as they would talk of their youth.
I found this to be so fascinating I could sit for hours and listen. My grandmother Vincent
for one then Flora King, Helen Holliday, & Nancy Dixon just to name a few others.

As I grew up and married, had children of my own there was little time for listening to any stories but the little one's that they told.

Then one day I found that they also had grown up and I was the one telling stories.
And I thought they will never remember all that I can tell them.
So I began to gather in all that I could and write it down so in time
it would not be lost or forgotten.

I thought at first this won't take long. I will be able to complete this soon enough.

I have now found after years of search and research that my work with genealogy will never be completed.
There will always be a mystery person waiting somewhere to be found
and added to my growing tree now filled with lots of golden leaves.
I can't think of anything that has caught my interest as much as finding all the people who helped make me who I am today.
And finding a LOVE for people
I can only get to know Through a picture, a letter, a diary entry or even an obit. Once you start to search you can never stop.

I added this to my facebook page today... I work on genealogy. I will give all of you a fair warning. Yes, I will hunt down family, I will snoop on your pages, I will steal your photo's, keep some of what you post, ask you personal questions like where were you born, when did your great grandparents die and where are they buried, I have a burning desire to know all the details. You don't even have to be close family because I will even hunt down non - family members once I get started. I can go all the way back to the kings and queens of England to the beginning of time, So beware. I have a strong addiction that I have no intentions of trying to cure.

January 3, 2017...It doesn't seem possible but my youngest turned 50 today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY,Jimmy.
Your still my baby..I will be 73 on the 14th.
I finished mom's 1955 diary today & started the one for 1956.
Also I am going through my pages on here and making my print darker and bigger so it will be easier to read.
That will take some time.

January 10,2017....I have up to April 19 of moms 1956 diary added. I also added a couple of drawings my sister Marjorie in the late 50s. under my mother Grace and art work. Let me know if you read and enjoy her diaries. My email is [email protected]. If you are family or have something to add email me.

February 13,2017...I have been spending about three mornings a week on adding my mothers diaries to this site. I am in July of 1963 now. I am trying to make corrections as I go but I am sure I haven't caught them all. I am useing my speech program and I have noticed and & in get mixed up so if you read them there may be mistakes here and there. Have been adding obits to find a grave instead of here but will try and add a link to them soon as I can. If you are looking for one check that site...

March 27,2017....I finished mom's 1965 diary today, I work on them every week. Still have a lot to do, will start a new one tomorrow.

April 3, 2017....Started mom's 1961 diary a few days ago. Worked on it all day.Hope to get them all on here one day.

April 23, 2017....Added July and Aug. 1961 from mom's diary today. Started on Sept will work on it again tomorrow and Tues. I also have a few obits to add. I am thinking of just adding the link to their Find A Grave Memorial page instead of the whole obit.

May 1,2017....Was able to start the 1957 diary of my mothers. Got up to Jan. 20th. I usually can get about 3 months done in a couple days but ran into some snags.

July 20, 2017....I finished mom's 1957 diary and started 1958. I see Rootsweb is going to change the way I work my site. Hope I can figure it out. They are discontinuing the online editor as of July 31st I downloaded FileZilla, now I have to figure out how it is used. Wish me luck..

August 1,2017....I have only gotten to March 1958 on my mom's diaries. I work a little at a time. I found a reason why Claude Gotham moved to Washinton State and changed his name to Clarence Mason. Will post it later but have added it to my Tree at Tribalpages and Find A Grave.

FUTURE PROJECTS

I guess this also could be called my wish list. I have stories and pictures of Marietta Holley who was a famous author from Jefferson Co.
and my sister has some of the buttons from a dress of hers that a niece of hers gave my mother once.
I would like to add a section on famous people and noted things from Jefferson Co.
My family at one time were caretakers in the Brown Mansion in Brownville,
my aunts first husband was a Fillmore and a descendant of President Fillmore.
At one time she owned a Tyler coverlet which was donated to a museum.I have tons of old
pictures, diaries, poems,Wills to name a few things to add. If I could make one wish it would be for someone to help with the
transcribing of some of these things it does take a lot of time.If you have anything to add let me know and I will add it.
