One of George Fenton's hobbies was taking and collecting
pictures of family and friends. There exist many, many pictures from the
late 1800’s and early 1900s. George had a Brownie camera that he
took everywhere. Apparently, George was the only person who could operate
it as there exist very few pictures of him from the period. He was very
prolific in recording the events of the day.
George, however, was not very diligent when it came to
recording names and dates. One photo from the early 1900s appears to show
three generations of Fentons at the family farm in Burke. Click here to view the photo. The
persons in the photo, from left to right, appear to be: Cora McDonald Fenton
standing in front of unidentifed child in wagon, unknown mustachioed gentlemen
with baby, unknown woman, his father Theodocius Fenton (standing in background
wearing suspenders) and two unidentified children, Sarah M. (Lewis) Fenton
holding baby, and another unknown woman. If anybody can shed any light on
the identities of anybody in the photo, please contact me.

Theodocius did not leave a will and
it wasn't until 1910 that his property was sold. The following documents
show how his property was sold. The first is a Surrogate Court notice to
creditors of Theodocius advising them to notify the administrators of any debts
owed. The second and third documents are transactions selling his land to
(1) his son Albert and (2) Clark and Laura Paine. The second and third

Luke purchased 20 acres in Willington from his father,
Asa, on June 18th 1798, for the sum of $136.80. Click
here to view that record. He sold that same piece of
property, click here to view the record, on March
7th, 1801, to John Sibley of Ashford, Connecticut for $136.00.
Another sale of property involved Luke and Chloe's pew at
the meeting house. The transaction , agreed to on January 31,
1802 and received for record on March 31, 1802, appears to be a sale of their
pew to his father Asa Fenton and uncle Adonijah Fenton. It was sold for
$46.67, and was "the third pew from the North East Corner in the body on the
lower floor."
Having sold their land and church pew, Luke and Chloe and
their family moved to either Hadley or Corinth in Saratoga County, New York
sometime after January 31, 1802.
