Breckenridge County KY Deed to John Hunt of Bedford County VA 1809 [in margin] Stith Js to Hunt Deed} This Indenture made this eighteenth day of December one thousand eight hundred & nine between Joseph Stith & Nancy his wife of Breckenridge County & State of Kentucky of the one part & John Hunt of Bedford County & State of Virginia of the other part that the said Joseph Stith & Nancy his wife for & in consideration of the Sum of four Thousand Dollars to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they Do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained & Sold & doth by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto John Hunt one certain tract or parcel of Land containing One Thousand and Sixty nine Acres be the Same more or less lying in Bedford county on Jumping Run a north branch of Stanton river & bounded as followeth Viz. Beginning at a black gum corner of Peter Dents on the bank of a branch near Clarksons fence in the patent line thence with the patent line North fifty poles to pointers North Seventy three degrees West eighty two poles to pointers North Twenty Three degrees East fifty four poles to a chestnut oak now dead, North Twenty five degrees West Eighty eight poles to a white oak North forty five degrees East Two hundred & Thirty four poles to a white oak near John Chapmans fence south forty Degrees, East one hundred & fifty poles, to Talbots corner to patent line North forty five degrees East Twenty Three & one half poles to a red oak South Eighty two degrees East two Hundred & Sixty pole s crossing West prong of Jumping Run to a Spanish oak South Fifteen degrees East one Hundred & Forty Six poles to a small Spanish oak south Forty five degrees East Seventy two poles to a post oak South Forty degrees West one hundred & twenty Eight poles to Black oak West Eighty eight poles to white oak. Thence off dividing line between Jones & Stith North seventy Seven & one eighth degrees West one Hundred & Twenty Six poles to William Dents corner white oak on Jumping run thence up as it meanders North Fifty [one?] Degrees West fourteen poles crossing the waggon road ninety poles in all to the mouth of Bristers[sic] branch thence up the said branch to the beginning. To Have & to Hold the above granted land & premises with all the appertenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining unto the Said John Hunt his heirs or assigns forever & the said Joseph Stith & Nancy his wife doth hereby bind themselves & their heirs to warrant and defend the above granted land & premises free from the Just claim of them or their heirs and all persons whomsoever unto the said John Hunt & his heirs forever in witness whereof the said Joseph Stith & Nancy his wife hath hereunto set their hands & Seals the date first above written Signed Sealed & acknod in presence of us [no witnesses signed] Joseph Stith {Seal} Nancy Stith {Seal} __________ State of Kentucky Breckenridge County to wit. At a County Court began & held in the County aforesaid at the Court House in Hardinsburg on Monday the eighteenth day of Decr One Thousand eight hundred & nine in the eighteenth year of the CommonWealth the within deed from Joseph Stith & Nancy his wife to John Hunt was duly acknowledged by the within named Joseph Stith & Nancy his wife to be there act & deed & the said Nancy being examined privaly & apart from her said husband agreeably to Law relinquished her right to dower in land to the lands in said deed mentioned & agreed that the Same might be recorded. Which is ordered to be certified to the Court of Bedford County State of Virginia where the land lies.
