Will of James Green Hunt

no date of signing;  probate date 20 August 1794


I, James Green Hunt make this my will in manner following.
     To Col. Thomas Taylor of Columbia I give all the Negroes which I
received from him in consequence of my marriage with his daughter, with their
increase, and with my negroes Eve, Phoebe, and Anthony, the last to be free
at Col. Taylor's death.
      All the rest of my estate my Maryland estate Excepted I devise
and bequeath the one moiety to the children of Col. Taylor in
equal portions, the other moiety to the children of my brother William
Pitt Hunt in equal portions to them and their Heirs.
      And I appoint the said Col. Taylor, my friends Captain James Taylor, John
Taylor Esqr. of Columbia, and my brother William Pitt Hunt Executors of this
my will, and I give them power to sell such parts of the residue of my estate
both real and personal after the legacy to Col. Taylor as may be necessary
for the payment of my Debts.

Richland County}  Personally appeared Robert Goodlie[sic] Harper Harper[sic] who being duly
sworn on his oath said that he did see the said James Green Hunt sign, seal,
publish, and deliver the within instrument of writing as and for his last
will and testament on the day and year therein mentioned and that he the
deponent together with Richard Waring, and Cephas Prentiss did in the
presence of the testator and at his request subscribe their names thereto as
Witnesses.
