Zachariah Shaver was born in 1790, most likely the son of Johannis Shaver and Elisabeth Drum. This information is based on West Copake, New York Church records showing his baptism on October 31, 1790. He married Margaret Fiddler about 1812 and several of their children were born in Dutchess County, New York. Zachariah moved to the Town of Lee, Oneida County New York prior to 1840, when he was located on census records in that town.

With the exception of Henry, Zachariah's children spent their lives in the town of Lee, and nearby area. Henry, who spelled his name Shaffer rather than Shaver, moved to Rochester in the mid 1860's.

The following pages will trace the descendants through several generations. The information found has been obtained from family bibles, cemetery records, obituaries, and census records.
