The funeral of Mrs. Paul JUVET, formerly Miss Rowena ROCHE, took place from
St. Patrick's Church, with burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Java Center,
Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1926, at 10 o'clock, Rev. John Harry Christman, a
cousin of the deceased, officiating.
Mrs. Juvet was born in Java Center, February 20, 1904. She was graduated
from Norwich High School in June 1920. About four years ago she took up
the position in Buffalo, which she held until her illness of pneumonia,
three weeks ago, from which she suffered a relapse. She was taken to the
Deaconess hospital where her death occurred, Dec. 20th.
On June 30th, 1926, she was married to Paul A. JUVET, of Java Center who
survives. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. ROCHE, four
brothers, Harold, Joseph and William ROCHE, all of Rochester, and John
ROCHE of Buffalo; four sisters, Mrs. Richard DANAHER of Utica, Mrs. Louis
MILLER and Mrs. Edmund KESSLER of Arcade and Alice ROCHE of Java Center.
The death of this young lady is indeed a great shock to her numerous
friends; the funeral was one of the largest that church has held for some
time. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were, Mr. R.
S. DANAHER of Utica; Mr. and Mrs. Harold ROCHE, daughter Marian, and Joseph
and William ROCHE, Mrs. J. DORAN of Rochester; Mrs. Alice HACKETT, Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas FLATTERY, Mrs. George WEILAND, David and Owen O'HERN of
Batavia; Mr. and Mrs. John F. ROCHE, Mr. J. C. ROCHE, Miss Alice HACKETT of
Buffalo, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McALPINE, Mr. J. F. ROCHE and daughter, Jane,
of Bradford; Mr. and Mrs. Louis MILLER and family and Mr. and Mrs. Edmund
KESSLER of Arcade and Gerald KESSLER of Springville.
[Agnes Rowena Roche was the granddaughter of John O'HERN and Bridget TOBIN.]

Pavilion [NY] Aug 16 [1932] -Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen CARROLL
HACKETT, who died of infirmities of old age, Thursday morning at the home
of her daughter Mrs. Henry QUINLAN with whom she has made her home for the
past four years, were held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's
church. The Rev. William QUINLAN of Cuba [NY] celebrated High Mass,
assisted by Rev. William J. Donnolly rector of St. Mary's church. There
were many mass cards. Mrs. HACKET[T] was born 81 years ago at North Java
and was married 60 years ago to William HACKETT of Pavilion and has resided
in Pavilion vicinity during that time. Mr. HACKETT died several years ago.
Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. James PERFIELD of Puyallup,
Washington and Mrs. QUINLAN, one brother, John CARROLL of Pepin, Wisconsin,
also several grandchildren. The bearers were Henry, Bernard and Paul
QUINLAN, John and James MURPHY and Paul KENNA. Those from out of town to
attend the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Henry HACKETT, Mr. and Mrs. George
WEILAND, Mrs. Henrietta GRIFFEN of Batavia, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce HYLE; Mrs.
Celia LARKIN, Mrs. Alice GOSSEN of Rochester, Mr. and Mrs. William LARKIN
of Mt. Morris, John PARTLON of Perry. The interment was in St. Mary's
cemetery.

Mrs. Bertha BUTLER HACKETT, 63, of Java Center died Thursday [April 15, 1943] after
a long illness. Mrs. HACKETT is survived by her husband, John; four sons, James and John of
Java Center and Henry and Joseph HACKETT of Buffalo; seven daughters, Mrs.
Edward HOLDEN, Mrs. George FLATTERY and Miss Catherine HACKETT of Buffalo,
Mrs. LeRoy MORRIS of Williamsville, Mrs. Richard GEORGE of North Java, Mrs.
Richard BRZEZICKI of Java Center and Mrs. Eugene BRZEZICKI of Cheektowaga;
two sisters, Mrs. John SCHRAM and Mrs. Lena PESTLINE, and two brothers, Gus
BUTLER of Batavia and the Rev. Henry BUTLER of Buffalo.
Funeral services for Mrs. HACKETT were held from her late home at 9:30
o'clock. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia. The bearers were
all sons-in-law of Mrs. Hackett.

WALTER J. MCCORMICK

Walter J. McCormick, a life-long resident of Java, died suddenly Monday evening,
March 11[1946]. He was born March 25,1875 and was married to Jennie McMullen in October 1910.
Mr. McCormick is survived by his wife Jennie; three sons, Robert W. at home, Edward V.
of Kenmore, and Francis E. of the U. S. Navy; two daughters, Elizabeth A. at home and
Ruth P. of the Waves, U. S. Navy; his brothers and sisters, Anna, Cornelius, Mrs. Charles E.
Hand, Rev. Francis V. and Mrs. Arthur F. Green.
The many friends of Mr. McCormick paid their kind respects to his family from the
time of his death until his burial services. Services were held at St. Patrick's
Church, Java Center, on March 14 at 10 o'clock. Rev. Raymond J. McCormick a nephew,
was celebrant of the Mass, Rev Edwin A. McCormick, a cousin was deacon, and Rev. David
Cahill was sub-deacon. Also present in the sanctuary were Rev. Francis V. McCormick,
Very Rev. George V. Callahan, Rev. Francis Schubert, Rev. James Kirkby, Rev. Charles
Rocheford and Rev. Edward L. Roche. The Rev Francis V. McCormick conducted the services
at the grave in St. Patrick's Cemetery and the Benedictus was chanted by the attending
priests.

OWEN F. MCGEE

Mrs. M. J. McMullen has received word of the death September 21[1948] of her brother
Owen F. McGee, formerly of Winfield and lately of Dallas Texas. Mr. McGee died at Warsaw,
N. Y. and Catholic rites were held at Java, N. Y., Friday. On August 15 Mr. McGee and
his wife went to New York to visit relatives at the homestead near Java. A week later he
suffered a heart attack and had been in a Warsaw hospital.
Mr. McGee was a drilling contractor and was with the McStauffer company that operated in
the Rainbow and Shidler oil fields a number of years ago. He and his family, including the
wife, Margaret and daughter Mary, left here some 10 to 15 years ago, going first to Wichita,
then to Dallas. The daughter is an air hostess. In addition to the relatives named, Mr.
McGee is also survived by a brother and another sister.

PETER MCGEE

Died at his home at East Java on November 3, 1907 after an illness of 4 months.
Peter McGee, aged 71 years.
Deceased was born in Tyrone County, Ireland May 12, 1836 and came to this country
when he was 12 yrs. of age with his mother, brothers and sister, settled on the farm
where he has resided. He was a man of strict integrity, honorable in all of dealings
and a devout member of St. Patrick's church of Java Center.
He was a husband and loving father. Everyone who knew him was his friend and the kind
words spoken of him on every side are sweet solace to his bereaved family.
He is survived by his sister, his wife and six children, Katherine, Alice, Susie,
Owen, John and William, beside a host of relatives and friends.

Miss Susie A McGee, Teacher Here 14 years, Victim of Brief Illness.

Miss Susie A. McGee, teacher of social science at South Junior high school, died
this morning at 12:15 o'clock in Mount St. Mary's hospital, following a short illness.
Miss McGee was 49 years old and a native of Java Center, N. Y., a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Peter McGee. She had been connected with the Falls public schools for
14 � years and was widely known in educational circles. Announcement of her death today
caused sincere sorrow among members of the junior and high school faculties and pupils.
A graduate off the Buffalo State Normal school, Miss McGee taught in the public schools
of Arcade, N. Y., before coming to this city. Before that she taught in district schools
in Western New York.
Surviving Miss McGee are two brothers, William McGee, Java Center and Owen McGee,
Wichita, Kan., and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Buckwheet, Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Catherine
McMullen, Wichita, Kan., and Mrs. Earl Roberts, of this city.
Funeral services will be held here tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock when a requiem mass
will be celebrated in St. Mary's of the Cataract church, Fourth Street. The body then
will be taken to the home of Miss McGee's brother, William McGee, Java Center, where
services will be held in the Catholic church there. Burial will be in Java Center.
