Amish

Since we have been doing the cemeteries of Indiana County I have been asked about the Amish Cemeteries. There are two of these in Indiana County, the one is called Walnut Hill. Amish Cemeteries are not like ours. First of all they do not put up monuments like we do, their tombstones are usually a white triangle with just the first name. Secondly their cemeteries are private, unless you are Amish you are not allowed in them. The Amish keep very good genealogical records, and if you think you have found that you are descended from someone who is Amish, you can ask and they will tell you if you are right. The Amish were originally Mennonite's. If you are interested in Amish Shops you can find some of these in Smicksburg.
