We don't know for sure where any of these were taken. They may or may not even be from the same construction site.
This is the scoop from one of the big shovels. Lettering on the side reads ESCO (Erie Shovel Company?). There is a five-digit number beneath this, but I can't read it clearly.
A shovel loading dump trucks. This is not a very sharp photo - I can make out the large letters "P & H" on the side of the shovel, but I can't make out any of the other writing.
Two photos of a later model shovel. The lens was not good and both photos are fuzzy everywhere but the centers. Lettering on the side of the shovel reads: "????? CONSTRUCTION CORP. / (GENERAL?) CONTRACTORS / (EAST) HARTFORD, CONN." The number 95 is also visible beneath this. There also appears to be some sort of seal on the cab just beneath the window, but I can't make out what it says.
Two photos of a larger shovel. The old Polaroid photo on the left is strongly backlit and therefore badly underexposed. I tried to lighten it up the best I could. My grandfather and his youngest daughter appear to be standing next to the shovel's scoop in that photo. The photo on the right is better exposed, but has been damaged and has wrinkles or scratches running through it.
