We don't know for sure where or when any of these photos were taken.
An old flatbed truck with a boiler on the back. There is a railroad line in the background near the power pole - this shows up in the high-resolution scan - may or may not be visible here. There are several sections of pipe and metal barrels in the foreground and background. The dark area through the front of the truck looks like film damage - the film probably got pinched while being loaded either into the camera or onto the developing reel.
A very old truck that appears to have gone off an embankment. The man sitting on the truck is unidentified. This truck looks very similar to the one in the snow photo below - maybe the same truck?
A very old truck in snow.
Men using unidentified equipment. They may be getting ready to pour concrete into forms. The machine on the left looks much like this concrete mixer on the Historical Construction Equipment Association website.
These are two photos of a two-span bridge in which one of the spans has collapsed, taking at least two cars with it. There are a lot of curious onlookers gathered at both ends of the collapsed span. From the look of the cars, this may have happened some time in the late 1920s. We are not sure where this was.
The left side of the bridge. This photo is a bit blurred from camera shake. Two cars are visible in the water, one on the far left just under the abutment and one on the right near the pier.
The right side of the bridge showing the intact span and the car near the central bridge pier. This photo is a bit clearer than the one above.
The photos below are not of actual worksites or equipment. They were taken by my grandfather, possibly in towns where he was working.
This looks like a Curtiss "Jenny", a type of airplane used by many barnstormers to do airshows and give plane rides in the years after World War I. There appears to be writing all down the side of this plane's fuselage, but all I can make out is the word "YES" near the tail. From the clothing worn by the women standing near the front of this plane, the photo appears to have been taken sometime in the 1920s.
"Third Place Award - Picture of the Week Exhibit." None of us have any idea what this is all about. There is a man with an axe and a good sized fallen tree. I wish I knew the story that went with this photo.
