John Schmitt was a young man when he was killed when struck by lightning.  In census and newspaper articles, he is listed as Smith.  On tombstone the family is listed as Schmitt.  Other newspaper articles and death certificates the name is listed as Schmidt.  I have collected all the death records for his children except for the youngest John, looking for their mother maiden name. The following names I have collected:  Tomroff, Dumrouff, Dunrruff, Dumruff, Drumruff, Dumrauf, and Dunruff.
