Pascoe GRENFELL and Jane TRENBATH

 

 

 

Pascoe was born in England about 1799.  He married Jane Trenbath (sometimes spelled Trembath) before 1825.  About 1846, they brought their family to Dodgeville, Iowa County, Wisconsin.  Pascoe listed his occupation as a farmer in 1850 and as a carpenter in 1860 and 1870. 

 

The children of Pascoe and Jane are:

 

Jane Grenfell, born 1824-1827 in England, and died before 1898.  She married (1) Peter HOSKINS January 6, 1848 in Iowa Co, WI.  Peter was a farmer and already had a son, Thomas, born about 1844 in England.  She married (2) Henry CARTER September 17, 1882 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, son of Henry Carter and Grace Cox.

The children of Jane Grenfell and Peter Hoskins are:

Jane Hoskins, born about 1853 in Wisconsin.

II.

Mary Ellen (Nellie) Hoskins, born about 1860 in Wisconsin; died about 1939 in South Dakota.  About 1885, she married Eli Cephas RUNDELL born about 1858 in WI; died about 1929 in SD.  They had six children.

III.

Catherine (Kate) Jane Hoskins, born November 12, 1861 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI; died February 10, 1946.  About 1884, she married Thomas Henry DAVIES, born about February 1856; died 1936.  They lived in Dodgeville until about 1918 when they moved to Madison, Dane Co, WI. They are buried at East Side Cemetery, Dodgeville, WI.  Children of Catherine and Thomas are:

Harry Alton Davies was born July 31, 1887 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, and died January 2, 1969 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  He married (1) Cora B DAVIS August 28, 1913 in Mason City, Cerro Gordo Co, IA, daughter of Charles Davis and Eunice Sutherland.  Cora was born August 9, 1891 in Reedstown, WI, and died September 22, 1927 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  She is buried at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, WI.  Harry married (2) Myra RANDALL.  She was born June 3, 1901 in Excelsior, Richland Co, WI, and died January 21, 1998 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  Harry worked for 32 years at Oscar Mayer & Company, retiring in 1958 at a master mechanic.  He was known for raising roller canaries. Harry and Myra are buried at Roselawn Memorial Park, Madison, WI.

Children of Harry Davies and Cora Davis are:

Helen Aileen Davies was born about 1915, and died March 16, 1977 in Sauk City, WI.  She married (1) Howard A DRULINER August 18, 1934 in Davenport, Scott Co, IA.  He was born January 20, 1911 in Appleton, Outagamie Co, WI, and died December 16, 1974 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  Howard was an ironworker.  Aileen married (2) Robert UMLOR.  He was born about 1916.  She married (3) Thomas (Tom) Frederick HILL February 13, 1954 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  Tom was born about 1912, and died August 4, 1967 in Sauk City, WI.  Aileen graduated from the Madison General Hospital School of Nursing.  She and Tom moved to Sauk City, WI in 1954.  He was executive vice president of the Farmers’ & Citizens’ Bank.  Aileen and Howard Druliner had three children.

Laurence E Davies was born December 31, 1915, and died June 14, 2005.

Mildred Marian Davies was born May 9, 1929 in Madison, Dane Co, WI, and died March 1, 2008 in Stoughton, Dane Co, WI.  She married Henry Qualtrough TURVILLE about 1950, son of Henry Turville and Margaret Qualtrough.  He was born July 20, 1928 in Wisconsin, and died March 1, 2005 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  They had one daughter Katherine Lee Turville, born about 1954 in Madison, Dane Co, WI; died February 9, 1969 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.

Annie Gladys Davies was born October 8, 1889 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, and died March 25, 1968.  Gladys graduated from the University of Wisconsin and taught in the Mount Horeb public schools for about 35 years, retiring in 1958.  She is buried at East Side Cemetery, Dodgeville, WI.

Avis Ruth Davies was born August 6, 1892 in Milford, Dickinson Co, IA, and died June 8, 1982 in Sauk City, WI.  She married Ervin L ROSE, son of Herbert Rose and Fannie Simonds.  Ervin was born June 10, 1891 in Hannibal, Marion Co, MO and died November 2, 1974 in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson Co, WI.  Ervin was an accountant in the Milwaukee, WI area while they lived in Fort Atkinson.  After retiring, Ruth lived for a while in West Palm Beach, FL.  Ruth and Ervin are buried at East Side Cemetery, Dodgeville, WI.

May Eileen Davies was born October 20, 1894 in Milford, Dickinson, Co, IA, and died July 3, 1974 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  She married James E O’NEILL, who was born about 1879 and died August 31, 1969 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI.  May graduated from the Medical School of the University of Wisconsin in 1931. She practiced Medicine at Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago, before becoming affiliated with the Gunderson Clinic in LaCrosse, WI until her retirement in 1958.  James was elected county judge in Iowa Co, WI in 1933 and was re-elected for successive terms until his retirement in 1954.  May and James are buried at East Side Cemetery, Dodgeville, WI.

5.

Homer Thomas Davies was born September 30, 1897 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, and died November 14, 1986 in Madison, Dane Co, WI.  On June 21, 1927, in Toledo, Lucas Co, OH, he married Ava Cecelia McGLONE, who was born June 1899, the daughter of John Edward McGlone and Sarah Elizabeth Demuth.  Ava died March 1994.  Thomas served in France during World War I.  He returned to Madison to attend the University of Wisconsin.  Homer and Ava lived in the Sunnyside area of Madison over 60 years.  Homer was associated with Oscar Mayer & Company for 32 years.  He and Ava are buried at Forest Hill Cemetery, Madison, WI.  They had four children.

Ann Hoskins, born about 1864 in Wisconsin.

 

John Trenbath Grenfell, born February 11, 1825 in Penzance, Cornwall, England; died January 10, 1922 in Dodgeville Township, Iowa Co, WI at the age of 96.  He married Julia Anna HENDY, January 4, 1855, daughter of James Hendy and Ursula Th~(unknown) and remained in Dodgeville.  He was a carpenter and farmer.  Julia was born March 21, 1831 in Pemry Brague, Cornwall, England; and died March 19, 1911 in Dodgeville Twp.

Lydia Ann Grenfell, born November 1855 in Wisconsin.  On March 17, 1881 in Dodgeville, she married William C ROBERTS, born June 1852 in Wales, son of William R and Jane Roberts.  Lydia went to California.  Children of Lydia and William are:

Nellie Roberts, born June 1882 in Wisconsin.

2.

Maude Roberts, born October 1888 in Wisconsin.

3.

Harland H Roberts, born July 31, 1895 in Wisconsin; died Nov 6, 1982 in Ventura Co, CA.

II.

James P Grenfell, born 1857 in Wisconsin; died 1862.

III.

William H Grenfell, born about 1860 in Wisconsin.  He went to San Francisco, California.

IV.

Mary Grenfell, born about 1863 in Wisconsin.

V.

Ada Grenfell, born about 1865-6 in Wisconsin.  She married Lloyd JAMES December 25, 1898 in Dodgeville.  They went to live in Chicago, Illinois.

VI.

John Henry Grenfell, born May 27, 1867; died July 11, 1947 in Dodgeville.

VII.

Catherine (Katie) L Grenfell, born September 7, 1869 in Wisconsin; died March 17, 1893 in Dodgeville.

VIII.

Thomas Pascoe Grenfell, born September 23, 1871 in Dodgeville; died September 21, 1973 in Linden Township, Iowa Co, WI, at nearly 102 years old.  He married Clara S BERG June 28, 1906 in Dodgeville, daughter of Peter Berg and Rossina Reddel.  Clara was born about 1878 in Eden Twp, Iowa Co, WI, and died September 6, 1963 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI.  Thomas was a carpenter.  Daughter of Thomas and Clara is:

Bernadine R Grenfell, born about 1912 in Wisconsin.

Eliza Grenfell, born June 1, 1826 in England, died April 1, 1906 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI.  She married (1) Joseph HENDY in 1848.  He was born about 1827 in England.  She married (2) William T WILLIAMS 1855 in Dodgeville.  He was born June 8, 1818 in St Column, Cornwall, England, and died November 26, 1899 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI.

Jennie Hendy, born about 1881 in Wisconsin; died September 4, 1910 in Stanislaus Co, CA.  On October 16, 1901 in Westport, Stanislaus Co, CA, she married Martin Arthur BREZEE; born about 1876 in Ohio.

Elmer J Hendy, born about 1883; died April 23, 1917 in Stockton, San Joaquin Co, CA.

William J Hendy, born about August 1884 in Wisconsin; died September 26, 1901 in Stanislaus Co, CA.

Hattie/Harriet May Hendy, born about September 1888 in Minnesota.  She married (1) Stephen Lorenzo BRUSH June 28, 1905 in Modesto, Stanislaus Co, CA; born July 6, 1882 in California; died April 20, 1955 in Modesto, Stanislaus Co, CA. She married (2) William BRIGHT.

Lillian Hendy, born September 29, 1889 in Minnesota; died January 4, 1977 in Newman, Stanislaus Co, CA.  She married William Frank SMITH; born Aug 16, 1880 in California; died Aug 19, 1969 in Patterson, Stanislaus Co, CA.

Mildred Hendy, born September 29, 1889 in Minnesota; died December 26, 1917 in Modesto, Stanislaus Co, CA.  She married C C BEASLEY.

Laura D Hendy, born May 9, 1891 in Minnesota; died June 8, 1966 in Patterson, Stanislaus Co, CA.  She married Franklin Arthur PATCHETT 1900 - 1904; born 1880-2 in California; died June 22, 1975 in Newman, Stanislaus Co, CA.

Lloyd Hendy, born February 24, 1893 in Minnesota; died May 25, 1931 in Modesto, Stanislaus Co, CA.  He married Florence Marie FILIPPINI; born March 18, 1894 in California; died October 2, 1980 in Merced Co, CA.

Glen Hendy, born November 2, 1895 in Minnesota; died April 10, 1984 in Turlock, Stanislaus Co, CA.  He married (1) Lena BOCK; born November 9, 1895 in California; died May 3, 1962 in Stanislaus Co, CA.  He married (2) Letha May ZACHERY 1971; born May 1, 1893 in Oklahoma; died May 8, 1983 in Stanislaus Co, CA.

II.

Ella Etta Williams, born about 1858.  She married John Francis JOHNS November 24, 1877 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, son of William and Ann Johns.  He was born about august 1854 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI. Their children include:

Edward (Eddie) T Johns, born about 1879 in Wisconsin.

2.

William J B Johns, born about 1886 in Wisconsin.

III.

Charles (Charley) Burdette Williams, born May 24, 1861 near Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI; died 1918 in North Dakota.  About 1881, he married Sarah Eleanor PAULL. She was born about July 1863 in Wisconsin. They settled near Black Butte, ND in 1909.  Their children include:

Frood Burdette Williams, born about April 1883 in Wisconsin.

2.

Fannie Ella Williams, born about November 1892 in Illinois.  She married Austin B PALMER, born about 1882 in Iowa.

3.

Charles Aldo Williams, born about February 1897 in Illinois.

 

 

 

Nannie T Grenfell, born about November 9, 1828 in Penzance, Cornwall, England; died October 23, 1898 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI.  She married (1) John Eva BARTLE July 22, 1848 in Dodgeville.  She married (2) James TREZONA March 9, 1895.

William P Grenfell, born about 1831 in England.

Pascoe Grenfell, born about 1834 in England.  He went to Modesto, Stanislaus Co, California.

James H Grenfell, born 1838-1839 in England; died before 1898.  He married (1) Amelia EDWARDS November 22, 1863 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, daughter of David and Charlotte Edwards.  He married (2) Mary Ann RODDY April 8, 1880 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, daughter of James and Ann Shoot.  James served in Co C, 31st Regiment, Wisconsin Roll during the Civil War.  He was a carpenter and wheelwright.

George B Grenfell, born about 1874 in California.

 

George Edwin Grenfell, born November 25, 1843 in England; died August 2, 1902 probably in Colorado.  He married Julia PENBERTHY June 19, 1863 in Dodgeville, Iowa Co, WI, daughter of John and Emma Penberthy.  Julia was born may 26, 1846 in Wisconsin and died March 27, 1913 in probably Colorado.  George was a farmer.   By 1898, he had gone to Erie, Weld County, Colorado and became a mine owner.

The children of George Grenfell and Julia Penberthy are:

George Leonard Grenfell, born September 3, 1864 in Wisconsin; died June 30, 1905 probably in Colorado.

II.

Edward Grenfell, born about 1865-7 in Wisconsin.

III.

Emma Florence Grenfell, born December 1870 in California.  She married Joseph WHILES about 1890.  Joseph was born about 1870 in England.  He was a railroad engineer and a miner.  Their children include:
