Mrs. I. P. Trotter " Susie Eager'

arthur of Trotter Genealogy Book written in 1948 on the lines of

James Trotter Sr. born 1725, and his son Isham Trotter b. 1744

of Brunswick Co., Virginia

submitted the following additional information on

Thomas Trotter of York County, Va.

"From the Parish Records of the Witham Church" At the Parish Church of Witham near the Scotch Border, Sept. 25, 1636, Thomas Trotter married Jane Carneby/Carnegie

Laura Trotter states:

Whether or not this Thomas Trotter is the one we have repeatedly referred to herein, we do not know. It would be in keeping for such a man to first enter the North American wilderness, make his "fortun', and return to "Merrie old Scotland to claim his beautiful bride."

The above references are in connection with York County, Virginai. While it has not been definitely established that this Thomas Trotter was our first ancester in America, it is generally acknowledged by Genealogists to be a "fact" which is merely lacking in proof. In addition, it has not been definetely proved that York County, Virginia was the orginal American home of the Trotter family; however, it is believed by Genealogists to be the starting point for the Trotter of America. As far as we are concerned, we must later study the records to prove or disprove this fact.
