For the last six years of so, we have been planning a trip to Wales. It started by Mike and Fliss Owens inviting me [Becky Wynn-Thill] to come and be part of the opening ceremony celebrations when they opened the "Bed and Breakfast" in the dower house of the Bron Fadoc. I was thrilled to be asked and accepted on the contingency that I could invite members of the Wynne
Genealogy Society which I had founded, who are descendants of Dr. Thomas Wynne. Mike and Fliss agreed that would be fine. They were also hoping to open a museum.
Time passed and they have worked on the Dower house, replacing the very expensive slate roof, etc, but the Dower house has to take a 2nd position behind making a living and the regular day-to-day expenses. So as of yet the Dower House is not finished. But we couldn't stand it!! At the October 2004 WGS reunion I held in Chester County Pennsylvania, we voted that we were coming to Wales ready or not.
Over the years Mayor R. Phillip Parry [in the future named Mayor Phillip], and I became friends. I volunteered free of charge to create the web site of www.caerwys-town.com, for Mayor Phillip, and we discussed the plans of coming to Caerwys, N. Wales. Not telling the Wynne-Genealogy-Society we started our planning, only thing we didn't have was a date.
When Mayor Phillip was told of our decision to come to Wales, whether the Dower house was finished or not, he totally agreed. He was finishing his round of being the Mayor of Caerwys the third week of May 2006 and encouraged us to come before he left office. We all agreed that would be best, as we wanted to be in Caerwys while he was Mayor. Decision made we were going May 10th-15th, 2006.
Then the round of finding flights, then who could chum up with who till we all met in Philadelphia Airport at terminal 19!!! And our Journey began!!!
Below you will find 28 pages with 1048 pictures of our 4 and a half day stay!!! [Don't say we don't know how to use cameras!!!]
Have fun and enjoy our life time trip to Caerwys Wales!!!
