Funeral services for Mrs. Ettie Pierce Edgerly, 77, widow of Charles E. Edgerly, who died early Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clark Sargent on the Alexandria Bay-Clayton road, were held Wednesday afternoon at the local Methodist church. A prayer service was held at the Sargent home before the funeral service. Rev. Lester W. Wakman, pastor of the church officiating and burial was made in the family plot in the Redwood cemetery.

Mrs. Edgerly, who had made her home with her daughter since the death of her husband on April 14, 1945, had been seriously ill for the past three weeks. death was due to a heart condition.

Mrs. Edgerly was born May 17, 1868 near Redwood, a daughter of George and Eliza Wilbur Pierce. She married Charles Edgerly on January 29, 1890. They resided on a farm near Redwood for 15 years following their marriage and then purchased the Reester farm on the Goose Bay road, where they lived for 37 years. They returned to a home in the village two years ago on account of the poor health of Mr. Edgerly. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on January 29, 1945, a few months before Mr. Edgerly's death

Charles Edward Edgerly,79, a retired farmer, died at 340 this morning at his home on Otter street. He had been in poor health.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 at the home and at 130 from the Methodist chursh, with Rev. Lester W. Wakeman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Redwood cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs Orissa Pierce Edgerly; two daughters, Mrs. Clark (Grace) Sargent, Alexandria Bay, R.D. and Mrs. Reginald (Leta) Paige, New York city; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Sadie) Simpson, Alexandria Bay, and Mrs. Edward (Thelma) Bertram, Alexandria Bay, R.D. are deceased.

Mr. Edgerly was born in the town of Alexandria, June 6, 1865, son of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Elliot Edgerly. He had always resided in this section.

He married Miss Orissa Ettie Pierce, daughter of the late George and Eliza Pierce of Redwood, on Jan. 29, 1890, at Plessis.

Mr. Edgerly was a member of Kirkland grange of Redwood and the Alexandria Bay Methodist church.

1961-----Mrs. Stella Hoffman Hotis, 90, died Tuesday afternoon in the Jefferson County Hospital after an illness of several months.

The funeral will be Friday with a prayer at the Quincer funeral home, Redwood, at 2 p.m. and services in St. Peters Episcopal church at 230 p.m. with Rev. Robert Gardham officiating. Burial will be in the Redwood cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elmetta Hotis, Redwood three sons, Rae (sic) C. Hotis, Redwood, Clare Hotis, California, Clyde Hotis, in the merchant marine; and a daughter; Mrs. Kenneth Agnes Keller, Hammond.

Mrs. Hotis was born in the town of Alexandria on March 5, 1871, the daughter of Robert and Frances Hoffman. She was married to Valentine Hotis on November 20, 1890. He died December 6, 1925.

The couple farmed near Redwood and lived there until 1905, when they moved to South Main Street, Redwood.

Mrs. Hotis was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal church and its women's auxiliary.

Unidentified newsclipping - January 9, 1923

Johnson J. Hotis, prominent retired farmer, died at 415 yesterday afternoon following a stroke suffered about 12 days before. He had been in poor health for sometime before. Mr. Hotis was 68 years of age.

He was born in the town of Orleans, son of George and Katherine Neuroth Hotis, his parents having arrived from Germany only a few months before his birth. When he was 14 years of age he moved with his parents to Redwood and had since resided here, following farming all his life until moving to the village a few years ago. He owned two large farms.

Mr. Hotis married Miss Elmetta H. Hoffman of Redwood in 1883, who survives with one daughter, Mrs. Lula Kable of Redwood; one son, Claude Hotis fo Redwood; four brothers, George Hotis of LaFargeville, Fred Hotis of Plessis and Henry Hotis of Theresa; two sisters, Mrs, Henry Wetterhahn of LaFargeville and Mrs. Liger Gray of Santa Rosa, Calif.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 130 from the home. Rev. Conway Cheeseman of Theresa Trinity Episcopal church officiating. Burial will be made in Redwood cemetery.

PIERCE REUNION HELD (1935)

The fourth annual reunion of the Pierce family was held Sunday, June 23, at Crystal Lake. Covers were laid for 140.

Mrs. Viola LaRock Pierce, 84, widow of Harry Pierce, died yesterday morning about 8 at the Ivey nursing home, Alexandria Bay, where she had been a patient about four years. At the time of her death, Mrs. Pierce was recovering from a case of virus pneumonia which apparently weakened her beyond her physical endurance.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2p.m. at the Quincer funeral home, Rev. Walter S. Dobbie, pastor of the Redwood Methodist church, officiating.The body will be placed in a vault in Redwood cemetery until spring.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Gertrude) Hofferberth, Redwood, a son Howard Pierce, Redwood, a brother, Edward LaRock, Ogdensgurg; a sister, Miss Eva LaRock, Ogdensgurg; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pierce was born in the town of Oswegatchie, Sept. 15, 1899, a daughter of James and Elizabeth Wright LaRock. She was educated in district schools.

On November 29, 1894,(?) she was married to Mr. Pierce in the town of Alexandria by Justice of the peace Nathaniel Freeman. The couple lived on a farm near South Hammond for many years. About 15 years ago they sold their farm and retired to South Hammond. After her husband's death about seven years ago, Mrs. Pierce came to live with her daughter in this village.

Mrs. Pierce was a member of Kirkland grange and a lifelong memeber of the Methodist church.

Bearers will be Ernest Babcock, Albert King, Howard Handschuh, Herschel Schindler, Ray Babcock and Herbert Flath, all of Redwood.

William Harrison Pierce, 77, a retired farmer of this village, died this morning at 630 at the Hunt Nursing Home in Hammond after an illness of ten months.

He was born in the town of Alexandria on August 8, 1870, a son of the late George and Eliza Wilbur Pierce. On November 29, 1894, he married Miss Viola LaRock, who survives him. They were married at Alexandria Bay by Justice of the Peace Nathaniel Freeman.

Mr. Pierce was a member of the grange for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife a daughter, Mrs. William (Gertrude) Hofferberth; a son Howard Pierce; four half-brothers, George, Herbert, Harold, and Earl Pierce, Redwood; and a half-sister; Mrs. Fred Kring, Redwood. Three grandchildren also survive.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 at the home of his son, Howard, and funeral services will be held at 130 at the Redwood Methodist church. Rev. Lisle B. Caldwell, pastor of the Redwood Methodist church, will officiate, and burial will be in Redwood cemetery.

The funeral for Gertrude E. Hofferberth,101, formerly of 27570 Limestone Road, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, with the Rev. Edgar Hunter, Redwood, officiating. Burial in Redwood Cemetery will be later this spring.

Mrs. Hofferberth died Thursday at the extended care facility at Edward John Noble Hospital-Samaritan, Alexandria Bay, where she had resided since 1993.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hofferberth was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She lived at 27570 Limestone Road until 1993.

Born February 24, 1897, at Alexandria Bay, daughter of Harry and Viola LaRock Pierce, she attended local schools.

She married William Hofferberth on October 23, 1924. Mr. Hofferberth, a farmer all his life at the family homestead on Limestone Road, died September 9, 1974.

Surviving are a daughter, Laura Herlehy, Delaware; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Curtis (Ruth) Davis, 27570 Limestone Road, a granddaughter and eight stepgrandchildren.

Glenn C. Tusler, 63, Route 2, died Friday in Odgensburg where he had been a patient since June.

The funeral for Mr. Tusler will be at 2p.m. Monday at the Fox Funeral Home, Rev. L. Everett Waite of the Hammond Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will be in the family plot at Highland Park Cemetery, Alexandria Bay.

Calling hours are this evening and Sunday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Tusler is survived by his wife, Eugenia; a son, Bruce of Massena; a daughter, Mrs. Rita Hollister of Hammond; two brothers, James of Lakeland Fla., and Kenneth of Watertown and five grandchildren.

Born September 30, 1914 in the town of Alexandria, he was the son of Walter and Emma Fillow Tusler.

He was a 1933 graduate of the Alexandria Bay High School and attended Canton ATC.

He married Eugenia Pierce of Redwood in May of 1963. His first marriage ended in divorce in 1960.

He had lived in South Hammond for 35 years.

He worked as a carpenter in his own business until his retirement in 1974.

Mr. Tusler was a member and former trustee of the Hammond Presbyterian Church, the Carpenter's Union Local 278 of Watertown.

Bessie E. Pierce, 74, R.D. 1, Redwood, wife of Howard Pierce, died at 8 p.m. Monday at the E. J. Noble hospital, Alexandria Bay, after a long illness.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Frederick Brothers Funeral Home, Redwood, with Rev. Edgar Hunter of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Redwood cemetery in the spring.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Besides her husband Howard, Mrs. Pierce is survived by a son, Arthur H., Alexandria Bay; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Doris) Gebo, Adams Center, and Mrs. Guy (Hazel) Hunneyman, Ogdensburg.

A daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Jean) Tusler, South Hammond, died July 31, 1978.

She was born October 30, 1904, in the town of Alexandria, one of four children of Elmer and Bertha Pierce Edgerly. A graduate of Redwood High School, she was married to Redwood farmer Howard Pierce, October 26, 1922. They farmed in the Redwood area for 47 years, an active member of the Methodist Church. They had been married for 56 years.

CONRAD ZECHER

CARTHAGE, June 15. - Conrad Zecher, aged 85 years, died at his home in Liberty street, West Carthage yesterday morning. He was a member of the G.A.R. and of Company M, Fifth New York Heavy Artillery during the Civil War. He was born in Germany, coming to this country when a young man. For many years he resided on a farm at Riverbank about six miles from Carthage but retired a few years ago and had since resided in Carthage. He is survived by five sons, Charles F. of Watertown, August of Naumberg, Fred of Marino, Mont., Frank of Riverbank and Edward of Carthage; three daughters, Arma and Emma of Carthage and Mrs. Theodore Meister of Riverbank, and one brother, Otto Zecher of Lowville. The funeral will be held from his home Sunday afternoon at 130. Rev. B. F. Ceigler will officiate and interment will be made in Naumberg Cemetery."

Carthage -- Charles F. Zecher, 73, a native of this vicinity, died at 4 this morning at the Mercy hospital in Watertown, where he had been a patient for the past week. He was taken ill while working at the George Wiley farm near Cape Vincent where he had been employed for many years.

He was born at Naumberg Jan. 28, 1862, a son of Conrad and Johanna Voigt Zecher, farmers of that locality. He spent his early years on the home farm, leaving while a youth to work as clerk in the Bachman drug store on State street, Carthage, where the post office is now located. He later worked on farms in this location and for several years was employed in the Watertown Air Brake shop. He married Miss Naomi Keller of Rodman in 1901. Two daughters survive, Mrs. Dorothy Pierce of Redwood and Miss Edith Zecher of Rochester. There are also three sisters, Mrs. Robert Noblett of Carthage, Miss Anna Zecher of West Carthage and Mrs. Theodore Meister of Naumberg; and three brothers, Frank, Edward and August, all of this vicinity.

Mrs. Juliaetta Mabel Unger Zecher Pickert, 63, who had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Glenn Schell, 579 Burdick street, died at 335 this morning in the House of the Good Samaritan, where she had been a patient for one week. Mrs. Pickert had fallen down the cellar stairs of her home and broken her back four years ago and had never fully recovered.

She was born near Picton, Ont., June 9, 1878, a daughter of Nathan D. and Rhoda VanBlaricon Unger. she came to this country when she was 17 years old. About 40 years ago she was married to Fred Zecher in Carthage. they had resided for about 20 years in Montana. Mr. Zecher died in Carthage in 1934.

On Nov. 22, 1937, she was married to Joseph Irving Pickert, a widower, R.D. 1, at Thendara in Herkimer County. The marriage was solemnized by Rev. William C. Watson, Presbyterian minister of Williamsport, Pa. Mr. Pickert's first wife had died in March, 1931. Mrs. Pickert was granted a separation decree against Mr. Pickert in June, 1939. He survives.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Rhoda) Schell; three brothers, Irvin, Wilfred, and Ethan Unger, all of Picton, Ont.; and three sisters, Mrs. E. W. Dean, Watertown; Mrs. John Watson, Thendara, and Mrs. Clifton Joyce, Deseronto, Ont.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 from the Hope Presbyterian church. Rev. L. Richard Mellin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in North Watertown cemetery.

Carthage - August E. Zecher, 82, died Friday morning at about 11 in the Carthage hospital after a long illness. Mr. Zecher had been a patient in the hospital only one day, but had been ill with a heart ailment about five years.

Friends may call at the Ullman and Bossuot funeral home, 410 State street, Sunday afternoon and evening. The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 from the funeral home with Rev. Harold H. Barnard, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be made in the family plot at Naumberg cemetery.

Mr. Zecher was born March 24, 1866, in Lewis county, the son of Conrad and Johanna Voight Zecher. He spent his early life and attended the schools at Naumberg.

Mr. Zecher married the former Miss Ella Fuller, from Elmira. The couple lived near Carthage during their entire married life. Mr. Zecher farmed at different periods in the vicinity. The last farm which he had before his retirement was about two miles out of Carthage on the West Street Road. Mrs. Zecher died in 1941.

Mr. Zecher lived with various relatives in Carthage previous to his death. He last resided on South James street.

Previous to his retirement from farming, he was a member of the local grange.

Surviving Mr. Zecher are two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Emma) Noblett, Carthage, and Miss Anna Zecher, Watertown, and two brothers, Frank Zecher and Edwin Zecher, both of Carthage.

Carthage, Sept, 14--- Mrs. Emma Zecher Noblett, wife of Robert Noblet, 237 State street, died in Carthage hospital Friday night. She had been a patient two weeks.

Mr. Noblett, a wallpaper and paint store operator here, is also a patient in Carthage hospital.

The body is at the Bossuot funeral home.

Besides her husband, she is survived by nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Noblett was the daughter of Conrad and Johanna* Vogt Zecher. She was a Lewis county native.

Carthage -- Frank Zecher, 83, a retired carpenter and lifelong resident of this area, died this morning at 4 at the Grand Union hotel where he live.

The funeral will be Saturday afternoon at 2 at the Bossuot funeral home with Rev. James B. Brown, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Naumberg cemetery. Masonic services by the Copenhagen Lodge will be held tomorrow night at 9 at the funeral home.

He leaves a sister, Mrs. Robert (Emma) Noblett, and a brother, Edwin Zecher, both of Carthage.

Mr. Zecher was born Oct. 2, 1872, in Lewis county. His parents were Conrad and Johanna* Voight Zecher.

He had been a member of the Copenhagen Masonic lodge for 59 years.

West Carthage -- Edward Zecher, 82, of Champion street, a retired farmer, died at 1 this morning in Community hospital here, where he had been a patient since Monday. Mr. Zecher had been in poor health two years.

The funeral will be Monday at 930 a.m. in St. James Catholic church, Carthage, with Rev. Patrick J. Kenny, O.S.A., celebrating the requiem mass. The body will be placed in Fairview cemetery vault to await spring burial in St. James cemetery. Friends may call at the Scherer funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Surviving Mr. Zecher are two sons, Edwin J. and Lawrence P., both of Carthage; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Emma) Noblett, Carthage, and six grandchildren.

Mr. Zecher was born March 26, 1875, in the town of Croghan, a son of Conrad and Johanna Voigt Zecher. On Nov. 19, 1900, he married Mary Ann* Reynolds at the St. James church rectory in a ceremony performed by Rev. James N. McCarthy.

The couple went to live on the Reynolds farm, Wrape road, and spent their entire married life there until Mr. Zecher's retirement in 1954. Mrs. Zecher died Feb. 15, 1957. Mr. Zecher had made his home with his son, Lawrence, until his death.

Carthage -- Edwin J. Zecher, 71, formerly of Robinson Lane, died Friday night in an Ogdensburg hospital, after an illness of three years.

The funeral will be at 930 a.m., Tuesday, at St. James Church. burial will be in St. James Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday evening and Monday afternoon and evening at the McGraw Funeral Home.

Surviving are two sons, Attorney Robert Zecher, Sodus, Richard J. Zecher, Passaic, N.J.; two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Mary Lou) Southerland, Salem, N.H. , Mrs. Sherman (Elizabeth Ann) Zehr, Rochester; brother, Lawrence, Carthage , and 12 grandchldren.

Born May 26, 1902, in the town of Croghan, a son of Edward and Mary Ellen* Reynolds Zecher. He attended Augustinian Academy and married Marion LeGary, Sept. 19, 1926, at St. James Church. She died Sept. 25, 1967.

He had retired six years ago from the converting department at Crown Zellerbach Corp.

Carthage -- Mrs. Marion Legary Zecher, 61, Robinson Lane, wife of Edwin J. Zecher, died at 230 P.m. Monday in Carthage area hospital where she had been a patient since Saturday.

There will be a requiem mass Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. James' Catholic church. Burial will be in St. James' cemetery.

Friends may call at the McGraw funeral home this afternoon and evening. There will be a recitation of the rosary there at 8 tonight.

Surviving Mrs. Zecher besides her husband are; two sons, Attorney Robert F. Zecher, Sodus; Richard J. Zecher, a student at the American Institute for Foreign Exchange, Phoenix, Ariz. two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Mary Lou) Southerland, Salem, N.H.; Mrs. Sherman (Elizabeth Ann) Zehr, Rochester, 10 grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. John A. Legary, Carthage; five sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Mary) Fowlow, Mrs.Edward (Jennie) Turpin, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Nabywaniec, all of Deferiet, Miss Margaret Legary, Gouverneur, and Mrs. Roy P. (Rita) VandeWater, Carthage, one brother, John Legary, Copenhagen.

A native of Godfrey, Ont., Canada, where she was born June 5, 1906, Mrs. Zecher was the daughter of John A. and Mary Ellen Trodden Legary. She received her education in schools in Canada and the United States, where she came with her family in 1920.

She was married to Edwin J. Zecher, a retired employee of Crown Zellarbach corporation, Sept. 19, 1926, in St. James' church, Carthage.

Mrs. Zecher was a member of St. James' church, its Alter & Rosary society, and of the Sacred Heart sodality.

Carthage, Oct. 23.----Robert Noblett, 74, of 237 State street, proprietor of a paint and wallpaper store, died Tuesday night in the Sunmount Veteran's administration hospital, Tupper Lake.

Mr. Noblett had been ill six weeks, and was previously a patient in the Carthage hospital. He was transferred to Sunmount after his wife's death Sept. 13.

The funeral will be Friday morning at 1030 at the McGraw funeral home with Rev. Robert Belbin, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery, where members of Bassett-Baxter Post 789, American Legion, will conduct rites. Legion members will act as bearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening.

Surviving are a brother, Walter H., Massena, and four nephews and a niece.

Mr. Noblett was born in Carthage April 27, 1889 a son of Henry and Ellen C. Brown Noblett. He attended local schools. He worked with his father as a contractor and decorator until his father's death in 1931. After that Mr. and Mrs. Noblett operated a paint and wallpaper store at 239 State street, until they were both taken ill.

Prior to entering the army in World War I, Mr. Noblett worked as a brakeman on the Nw York Central railroad. During the war he was with the army corps of engineers and served on railroads in France.

He married the former Miss Emma Zecher, a daughter of Conrad and Johanna Voigt Zecher of Lewis county. Prior to her death last month, she was also a patient in the Carthage hospital.

Carthage -- Fred W. Zecher, 64, a native of this vicinity and a resident of Belt, Mont., dropped dead suddenly about 930 a.m. today, while working in the garden at the home of his sister, Miss Anna Zecher, 23 Liberty street.

Mr. Zecher had been in poor health for some time and had come east to the home of his sister about June 20, this year, where he had since resided.

Mr. Zecher was discovered by his sister shortly after having suffered the attack which caused his death. An examination of the body was conducted by Dr. F. G. Metzger, local health officer, who decided the death was due to heart trouble. The body was removed to the new Ullman funeral home in this village.

Mr. Zecher was born Feb. 28, 1869, in Naumberg, a son of the late Conrad and Hannah (Johanna) Voigt Zecher. His early life was spent in the vicinity of Naumberg but the greater part of his life was lived in the mid-west, where he was a farmer.

He was married while living in the west. Early this year in view of his poor health, he had decided to return east in hopes that his health would improve.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mabel Zecher, and one daughter, Rhoda, aged 10, of Belt, Montana, three sisters. Mrs. Theodore Meister of River road, Miss Anna Zecher of 23 Liberty street and Mrs. Robert Noblett of Carthage, four brothers, Charles of Cape Vincent, and August, Frank and Edward, residing in Carthage and vicinity.

Funeral arrangements which will be private are incomplete. Interment will be made at the Naumberg cemetery.

Lowville, Feb. 24. -- Otto J. Zecher, 38, former resident of this village, died at his home in Norfolk, Conn., Thursday night, according to word received here today by Charles Sunderhaft, a brother-in-law.

A telegraph telling of his critical illness was received by his sister, Mrs. Charles Sunderhaft, Thursday. Mrs. Sunderhaft, with her brother, Louis Zecher, left for Norfork but their brother died before their arrival.

Mr. Zecher was born in Lowville in 1894, son of Otto and Catherine Wisner Zecher. He attended the local schools and learned the barber's trade here. He conducted a barber shop in Lowville for several years. About 15 years ago he moved to Norfork where he had since operated a barber shop. When a young man he married Miss Freda Rackengear, of Edgewater, N.J.

Besides his widow he is survived by two sons, Robert and Edward, Norfork, Conn.; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Smith, Rochester, Mrs. C.J. Arnold, Torrington, Conn.; Mrs. Charles Sunderhaft, Lowville; one brother, Louis Zecher, Lowville.

Funeral services and burial will be held in Norfork, Conn., Saturday afternoon.

GETMAN FUNERAL MONDAY
WILL BE HELD AT RESIDENCE
UNDER AUSPICES OR ELKS.

The funeral services of S. J. Getman, who died Friday night of pneumonia, will be held at 230 o'clock Monday afternoon, under the auspices of the Elks, at the home, 524 South Boston. Interment will be made in Oaklawn (sic) cemetery.

Mr. Getman was born in New York May 1, 1857. In 1881 he was married to Miss Ida Corliss, at Plessie (sic), N. Y. Roy Getman, who has been associated with his father in business, is the only surviving child of the marriage. The family later moved to Charles City, Iowa, where Mr. Getman was engaged in the wholesale business. He came with his family to Tulsa in 1903 and two years later opened up the Getman drug store.

He was a man highly respected in business circles and his death is regretted by the citizens of the town he helped to build.

DEATH OF MRS. WIILARD A. PIERCE- PERSONAL NOTES
THERESA April 1,-- Mrs. Bell Pierce, wife of Willard A. Pierce, of this village, died yesterday afternoon at 4, after only four days' illness. she was born Nov. 25, 1856, at Hammond, N.Y. and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Duclon. Jan. 13, 1876, she married Willard A. Pierce.Besides her husband, a daughter, Miss Bertha, survives her. Mrs. Pierce was an excellent woman and had many warm friends earned by her untiring distress, and by her industry and devotion to her family.

The funeral will be held from her late home tomorrow at 2 p.m. and her remains will rest in Oakwood .

Willard A. Pierce was born in Theresa on December 23, 1851. He married Belle Duclon of Hammond on January 26, 1876, They had three children, two sons and a daughter born to them, the sons dying when small and the daughter, Bertha but a few years ago.

Willard, for over 30 years was connected with the highway work of this town. He was for several years highway commissioner and later, when the state and county highway systems came, he acted as patrolman, for the past few years on the county highways.

Mr. Pierce once conducted a livery stable here. For a few years he acted as branch dealer for the McCormick farm tools in this section.In his youth he began working for the late Charles Pool of this village who had a large grist mill here, as well as saw mills, planing mills and other shops. Mr. Pierce was the driver for the grist mill rig and delivered flour to villages 20 to 40 miles distant. He was employed by Mr. Pool for over 30 years.

September 30. 1939---Fred Hotis, 73, lifelong farmer of this section, died at his home here Friday afternoon at 4 after an illness of three years.

Mr. Hotis was born in Redwood on February 16,1865, the son of the late George and Katherine Neuroth Hotis. He married Miss Stella Pierce at Theresa, November 20, 1900. Mr. and Mrs. Hotis had resided at their present home for the past 20 years. Previously, they had operated a farm at Redwood for six years and at Omar for twelve years.

Surviving, besides his wife are four daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Muriel) Getman, and Mrs. Ronald (Nina) Hunter, both of Plessis, Miss Verah Hotis, a teacher at Seacliff, L.I. and Mrs. Martin (Cora) Hanni, also of Plessis. A brother, Henry Hotis, Theresa, also survives.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Fred H. Lewis, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Mannsville, assisted by the Rev. Louis Bruce, pastor of the Church at Plessis will officiate.

Bearers will be Clearence Kable and Edward L. Hawkins, Redwood; M.W. Reed and C. J. Makepeace of Plessis and Harold Bretch and Joseph Getman of LaFargeville. Internment will be in Redwood cemetery.

Redwood , Sept. 10.-- Jacob Quincer, 73, well known rewsident and business man of this village, died at his home here at 4:15 this morning after a long illness.

Mr. Quincer was born Dec. 16, 1856, son of Philip and Kathleen Riester Quincer. Thirty-two years ago Mr. Quincer built the business block in Redwood which he occupied with his business of undertaking, furniture, coal, and lumber up to within a short time of his death.

He married several years ago Miss Elizabeth Christine Stotler of this village. Mr. Quincer was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a charter member of Lakside lodge, I.O.O.F., and acharter member of the Redwood lodge I. O. F. He had acted a streasurer of the Redwood lodge of Foresters' since its inception in the village. Mr. Quincer was a director of the Redwood National bank and a trustee of the Redwood Cemetery Association.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Stotler Quincer, Redwood; two daughters, Mrs. C.D. Reed, Philadelphia, N.Y.; Clara J. Quincer a teacher at Glouster college, Baltimore, and a brother, Mark Quincer, Malta, Illinois

Funeral services will be held from the late home Friday afternoon at 2, Rev. Francis (incomplete).

WIDOW OF HENRY WETTERHAHN DIES

WOMAN, 77, SUCCUMBS AT HOME OF SON

Mrs. Laura Hotis Wetterhahn was born near Redwood and lived on farm near Omar before moving to LaFargeville

LaFargeville, Jan. 11, -- Mrs. Laura Hotis Wetterhahn, 77, widow of Henry Wetterhahn, long a resident of this village, died at the home of her son, George H. Wetterhahn, Sunday evening at 9:45, from infirmities of old age.

She was born near Redwood, N.Y., Aug. 6, 1859, a daughter of the late George Hotis and Catherine Neuroth Hotis, and was one of a family of nine children. She was married Feb. 22, 1882, at Orleans, to Henry Wetterhahn.

After their marriage, they bought a farm near Omar, where they resided until March 4, 1905, when they purchased a home on Clayton Street, this village. Her husband died on June 24, 1924, but she continued to live at her home here until a few months ago when illness made it advisable for her to make her home with her son where she remained until her death.

She was an active member of the Ruhumah chapter of the Eastern Star, the LaFargeville grange and St. Paul's Episcopal church.

She is survived by one son, George H. Wetterhahn, Jr., of LaFargeville; a foster daughter, Minnie Arnold, 232 Winslow street, Watertown, and two brothers, Fred Hotis of Plessis and Henry Hotis of Theresa.

The funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from her home on Clayton Street, this village, Rev. Carl Worden of Theresa will officiate. Internment will be made in the family plot, Grove cemetery.

Alexandria Bay, Sept 3, --James Tusler, 90, died at the Ila Hunt Nursing Home here early Sunday morning. Mr. Tusler had been confined to the nursing home for the past two weeks.

Funeral services were held at the Giltz Funeral Home at 2 this afternoon, Rev. Roger F. Williams of the Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made at the Highland Park cemetery.

He was born at Gunn's Corners April 5, 1850 and when seven years old moved to Wellesley Island where he lived on a farm until he reached the age of 25. At the age of 25, he married Mrs. Mary Rogers of Alexandria Bay and has since resided in this village. Mrs. Tusler died in 1929.

For the past 15 years Mr. Tusler has been employed by the village of Alexandria Bay as a landscape gardener, taking care of the village parks.

He is survived by one son, Walter Tusler and three grandsons, C. Clifford Tusler, Kenneth W. Tusler and James E. Tusler and a stepson, Edgar A. Rogers all of Alexandria Bay.
