Believed to have had a cerebral hemorrhage or an embolism - his leg had been placed in a cast and his condition had been progressing . Had the hemorrhage while sitting in a chair.

Married to: Mrs. Joy E. Hermann and she was an employe of the workmen’s compensation division of the state labor department.

About her parents: They were of English descent. Her father was an early merchant pioneer - conducted a large general store and a flour and feed mill in Redwood; also operated passenger and pleasure boats on the St. Lawrence River. They operated the “Island Belle” which ran between Ogdensburg and Clayton on regular trips and sometimes on special trips to Kingston, Canada. After her father’s death the interests were assumed by Addie’s brothers, Fred, Wallace and Gilbert Holmes. The brothers added another boat, “The Riverside.”

Education: Redwood public schools and Girls’ Academy in Mechanicville.

Traveled to Australia to visit relatives. She had a summer home “Camp Wai-KiKi” on Butterfield Lake.

Very active in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Redwood; worker for the American Red Cross during the wars.

WIDOW OF WM. N. HOYT, 78, EXPIRES

Mrs. May Tyler Hoyt, 78, widow of William N. Hoyt and once a resident of Theresa, died at 7:30 Monday evening at the Henry Keep home, where she had been a guest since Aug. 31, 1934. Mrs. Hoyt, who had been in declining health for three or four months, had been confined to her bed for about a week.

She was born in Watertown, July 31, 1862, a daughter of Henry A. and Cordelia Weaver. Her parents died when she was a little girl and she was then adopted by the late Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Tyler of Theresa.

She took the name of Tyler and spent the early part of her life at Theresa, where in 1883 she was married to William N. Hoyt of New York.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt resided in New York and Mount Vernon. Mr. Hoyt died about 20 years ago in New York, and later Mrs. Hoyt lived with her daughter, Mrs. Kent (Grace Hawkins) Mendell, in Syracuse.

She came to the Keep home more than six years ago from the home of her daughter in Syracuse. The daughter now lives at Pierrepont Manor.

Also surviving her, besides the daughter, Mrs. Mendell, are two grandsons, Glenn B. and Pershing A. Hawkins, Syracuse, and two cousins in Brooklyn.

Funeral services will be held at the Keep home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Dr. Harold H. Niles, pastor of the All Souls Universalist church, will officiate. The body will be placed in the city vault to await burial in the spring in the L. W. Tyler plot at Theresa.
