The area of Weetslade in which Dudley and Annitsford stood was admitted into the Tynemouth poor law union in 1834 The poor law union covered and area from Tynemouth to Blyth and inland to Hartford and Longbenton a great many of the people who lived in Dudley at this time had only come from this area as to move out of your parish or poor law area would mean that you could lose benefits if you fell ill or were out of work.
