Kildress Roman Catholic Churches

There are two Roman Catholic churches in the parish of Kildress.

At Killeenan is St Joseph's Chapel, which was first built in 1755. This first building is mentioned in the Ordanance Survey Memoirs of Ireland in 1830 as being "upto 150 years old....... and in very bad repair"

The new chapel was completed by Fr. Bernard Murphy in 1855, although in the meantime the old School had been used as a Chapel.

The first chapel at Dunamore was built in 1815. St Mary's Dunamore present chapel was built in the 1860's or 70's.
