UK-NORTHEAST is a mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in the Northeast part of England. Beginners and experienced researchers are welcome. Topics include how to start and conduct genealogy research; why we love genealogy and how it feels when you find another ancestor; requests for lookups; new lists, resources, and URLs; finding information and clues and keeping records; local history related to Monumental Inscriptions; and sharing information, identifying and presenting related records, and searching for details on the locations.

Mailing lists are interactive e-mail forums that are free for you to subscribe to and participate in. Welcome letters are generally provided when you subscribe. It is recommended that these be kept on file since they contain important information about posting, unsubscribing, and other aspects of list membership that will be useful to you in the future or you can visit our F.A.Q. Database for further information.

Do not send Spam e-mail messages to mailing lists. Do not send attachments (attached files) of any sort to mailing lists. This includes URL shortcuts, v-cards, GEDCOM files, zipped files, and any other type of attachment. Do not forward virus hoaxes or chain letters to mailing lists. Do not use HTML or RTF (rich text format) in messages sent to mailing lists. Do not cross-post messages to multiple mailing lists on the "To:" line or the "Cc:" line of the e-mail message. It is optional to add the area or country you live in  to the end of your name when posting messages. PLEASE ensure that you contact me (listowner) before posting any type of messages, which refer to web sites, which are outside of the areas this list covers. Such references should receive the listowner permission before posting them forwarded to the list. Do not send e-mail messages to mailing lists for which the topic is inappropriate. Do not flame other members of the mailing list.
