King DeARMOND was named after his mother's KING family. According to Fred Thomas, King moved with his parent's family from Dauphin Co PA (eastern PA) north to Northumberland County, PA about 1783 (Northumberland Co History says 1793), where he grew to manhood.

Hannah HARDIN, daughter of Samuel HARDIN, was also raised in PA.

King and Hannah married in Pennsylvania (Northumberland County?) about 1804.

In 1806 King and Hannah with their 2 children, and his brother Alexander's family, came by flatboat down the Ohio River to settle on land in what is now Dearborn County, Indiana (history). What is now Dearborn County IN was, in the early 1800s, still part of Hamilton County, Ohio. (source). [People still canoe up the Whitewater River (map)] So from the Ohio River, the DeArmonds entered the mouth of the Great Miami River, and then pushed the flatboat up the Whitewater River map about two miles above Harrison, Ohio where they landed.

King and Hannah had at least 9 children:
* Thomas 1780s?-pre 1844 (wife's name unknown)
* Samuel Hardin "Squire", 1805-1888 (m Sarah YOUMANS)
* Margaret b ca 1807? (m William OTTO)
* Mary "Polly" b ca 1810? (m Joseph STEPHENS)
* King Jr. 1812-1855 (m Ester JOLLIFF)
* Elizabeth b ca 1814? (m William "Harry" MILHOLLAND)
* Esther b ca 1816? (m Harry DeARMOND)
* Alexander H. 1818-1895 (m Isabella Jenkins 1818-1901)
* Rebecca 1820-1822 (19mo)

After Hannah died in 1828, King married Lydia (BENNETT) DEMORET, widow of Nicholas DEMORET 1760-1826.

Lydia Bennett Demoret DeArmond
b. 7 Jan 1774 NJ
d. 2 Feb 1867 Butler Co OH (92)

Lydia Bennett and her first husband, Nicholas Demoret, were married 24 December, 1795, and apparently had two children,

Samuel B. Demoret (1798-?)
    Samuel married Rebecca BOLSER in 1819, Butler Co OH (Miami Valley Genealogical Index)
Mary Demoret Askren (1800-1881).
    Mary married Thomas ASKREN in 1820, Butler Co OH (Miami Valley Genealogical Index)
Nicholas died in 1826 and was buried at Venice Cemetery, Ross, OH.

After King DeARMOND's wife Hannah died in 1828, he married Lydia, whose 2 children were already grown. But King apparently had young children to raise. Perhaps the youngest two were Alexander (1818-1895) and Rebecca born in 1820, but who had died in 1822.

Lydia's marriage to King DeArmond was not a happy one, and they eventually separated.

Lydia was buried with her first husband, Nicholas Demoret (1760-1826), Venice Cemetery in Ross, OH

Children:
The King and Hannah (HARDIN) DeARMOND family

of Northumberland County, PA and Butler County, OH

The children are listed in the order of how King listed them in his 1840/1844 will.

1. Thomas DEARMOND
b. 1804? OH
d. 6 Oct 1831 OH (ca 27?)
Shandon Cemetery
wife: yes, but unknown
Thomas was born about 1804 and named after King's father, Thomas. King's son, Thomas, married and had a daughter, Hanna Jane DeARMOND.

In 1826, since King had no son named Robert DeARMOND, Thomas was included in his Uncle Robert DeARMOND's will (from d'Armand's book)

Thomas died on 6 October, 1831 and is buried in Shandon Cemetery, Shandon, OH. I could not find Thomas' wife buried at Shandon Cemetery with him. Perhaps she remarried after her young husband died?

His daughter Hannah Jane DeARMOND was an heir of Thomas's father King DeARMOND's will, written in 1840 and probated in 1844.

So Hannah is not the Hanna Jane (b 1846, d 9 October
1848, buried in Shandon Cemetery, Shandon, OH. That
Hanna Jane DeARMOND may have been Alexander
Hardin and Isabella Jenkins DEARMOND
's daughter.

2. Samuel Hardin "Squire" DEARMOND

Samuel and Sarah Youmans DeARMOND married and had at least 7 children. Both were buried in the New London Cemetery, Shandon, OH which lists 7 children.

Ann Jones DeARMOND died 18 Dec 1826 and was
buried in the Shandon Cemetery. She had just married a
Samuel DeARMOND two years before, on 4 November
1824, but apparently not THIS Samuel DeARMOND.

Grave 321 is probably not Polly's husband

Kathleen Rizer lists 4 children for King and Esther: Margaret, William, James, and Esther DeARMOND. Another one of their children was King DeARMOND III, born 23 Oct 1854, and died almost a year later, 9 Sep 1855, the same month as his father died. Baby King was buried at George Family Cemetery, near his father's grave.
DeARMONDs buried in the George Family Cemetery:
