HILLSBOROUGH, HIGHLAND COUNTY, OHIO September 25, 1862
The latest letters received from the 60th are to the 18th, at which time they were at Frederick City, Md. They have since been heard from at Annapolis, Md., and Mr. Thos. Hibben, of this place, who came home from Columbus on Tuesday night, reports that the regiment was expected to arrive there that night. The regiment was paroled with the other prisoners taken at Harper's Ferry. A letter from Maj Marlay, received by his wife, states their loss at 9 or 10 killed and wounded. He gives no names, but says none of them belonged to this vicinity. A letter from Corporal Jno. Ellis, of Co. A, says that Adjutant Barrere was wounded in the left hand, but as Major Marlay does not mention it, we hope the report is incorrect.
