Poem Dedicated to the Braves of the 60th Regt. O.V.I. of 1864

To the Braves of the 60th Regt. O.V.I.
of 1864
This Poem is inscribed by their
Comrade and the Author,
Wm. M. Nace,
Private of Co. D, 60th Regt., O.V.I.
Columbus, Ohio,
June 19, 1915.

The courage of each breast,
Like the adamantine-crest
Of the shore,
Where the ocean's rageful waves
In wild delirium raves
In vain evermore.

Hurled back the billowy tide
Of rebellion in its pride,
Shattered, beaten, scattered wide,
To return no more.

Their dauntless hearts will soon be dust,
Their flashing guns dissolved to rust,
But their fadeless fame, we ever must
Cherish and adore.
