Elitha D. House
1836-1878

This is a photograph of the grave marker for Elitha D. House. It is located in Union Church Cemetery on Frank Road in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.

Elitha D. House was born October 16, 1836. He entered into service in 1861 and served with the 3rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was a Sergeant and was promoted to First Lieutenant and then to Captain. On February 8, 1864 when he was 27 years old, he entered into service as the Captain of Company A, Three Years' Service, of the 60th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was later wounded in action on October 27, 1864 at Yellow House near Petersburg, Virginia. On March 2, 1865 he was discharged on Surgeon's certificate of disability. He died on December 23, 1878 at the age of 42.
