Payson House

[Index]   [Next]

This is a photograph of the house that was lived in by Robert Alexander Mackenzie, Sr. and his wife, Gertrude "Trude" Staude Williams Mackenzie. It is a two-story, A-frame house that was built on the side of a mountain. The roof was made out of wood and one of the outside walls was out of rock. They hand-picked the stones, and built the house from the ground up with the help of their youngest son.

There was a deck on two sides of the house which overlooked the side of the mountain. The house was surrounded by large trees, wild flowers, and grapevines. The address for the house was 315 Star Route, Whispering Pines, Payson, Gila County, Arizona.
