IRL BUNCH

At Rest

Died at St. Mary's Hospital at Pierre, S.D. on Thursday March 11th 1909, at the age of 13 years 3 months and 27 days, Irl, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Bunch of this place.

The passing of this young life is one of the saddest events that has ever occured in this neighborhood. Untill (sic) about six weeks ago Irl was apparently in the best of health and spirits, taking an active interest in school work and looking forward to a useful life. The last of January he complained of not feeling well and was immediately taken to the hospital where a consultation of the best doctors in the state was held, and the dread Bright's disease was their verdict. For six weeks doctors and nurses battled for his life, but it was hopeless. He fully realized that the end was near and spoke cheerful comforting words to his loved ones and trusting in the Heavenly Father, passed into that life where sickness and death never come. Irl was a generous hearted lovable boy and his untimely death leaves a place in the home and neighborhood that can never be filled. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon. Beautiful wreaths of cut flowers covered the casket. The services were conducted by Rev. Gullickson of Pierre, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Okobojo cemetery. The sympathy of the entire neighborhood is extended to the bereaved family.

MRS. GEO. W. FRY

Aged Vintonion Took Dose By Mistake, Belief

Benton County News. Mrs. George W. Fry, 77, lifelong resident of Benton County,(IOWA) died at her home here at 7:30 a.m. today, a few minutes after she had taken carbolic acid.

Whether the action was suicide was not known. Long ailing, and afflicted with failing eyesight in recent years, Mrs. Fry had been using various medicines for some time, and the probability was set out that she took the poison by mistake, relatives said.

No Cornoner's Inquest. Called here from Belle Plaine, County Coroner John Burrows said no inquest would be held into Mrs. Fry's sudden death. Funeral services have been arranged for Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the Fry funeral home. The Rev. S.S. Smick of Cranston, Ia., former pastor of the Vinton United Brethren church, will conduct the rites. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home all day Sunday.

Mrs. Fry had made her home here the last 43 years. She was an active member of the United Brethren church until her health failed about eight months ago. Her interests were centered in her home and especially in the family of an invalid daughter, Mrs. J.J. Dickson of Vinton.

Emma J. Dilling, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John A. Dilling, pioneers of Benton county, was born on an Eden township farm, July 8, 1858. She was married to George W. Fry, January 22, 1879, at the Shellsburg home of the Rev. Mr. Bowe, who performed the ceremony. They began housekeeping on a Benton county farm. After renting three years, Mr. and Mrs. Fry bought a place southeast of Vinton. Later they bought 320 acres closer to Vinton. Forty-three years ago they retired from the farm to become residents of Vinton.

Mrs. Fry is survived by her husband and two children, Jay Fry and Mrs. J.J. Dickson, both of Vinton. Other members of her family are three grandchildren, Howard, May, and Josephine Dickson, and two great grandchildren, the children of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dickson.
