Mary Sweat was the oldest of the fifteen children of John Sweat and Charlotte Moore.
John Sweat was born in 1794 in Burke County, Georgia, the son of Nathan and Mary Sweat. He married Charlotte Moore on May 17, 1815 in Screven County, Georgia. He died in 1868 in Bradford County, Florida. Charlotte Moore was born in 1800 in Bulloch County, Georgia, the daughter of John Moore and Winnie Hardeman. John and Charlotte Sweat had these fifteen children: Mary (b.1816), Mitchell (b.1819), Laura (b.1821), Sarah (b.1822), Ellen (b.1825), Allen (b.1827), Nancy (b.1828), John Jr. (b.1831), James Malcolm (b.1833), Joseph (b.1835), Thomas Wayne (b.1839), Nathan II (b.1841), Martha Ann (b.1843), Melvina (b.1844), and Wealthy A. (b.1848).
Nathan Sweat was born about 1760 in Beaufort District, South Carolina, the son of William Sweat,Jr. and Lucy Turbevil. He and Sarah were married in 1786 in Effingham County, Georgia. He died in 1830 in Emanuel County, Georgia. They had these six children: William T. (b. 1787), John (1794), Nathan Jr. (b.1796), Nancy (b. 1798), Samuel (b.1804), and James A. (b.1806).
William Sweat,Jr. was born in 1732 in Craven County, South Carolina, the son of William Sweat and Martha Causey. He married Lucy Turbevil in 1750 in South Carolina. He died on July 23, 1763. Lucy Turbevil was born in 1738 in Virginia, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Turbevil. William Sweat, Jr. and Lucy Turbevil had these three children: John (b.1754), James (b.1756), and Nathan (b.1760).
William Sweat, Sr. was born about 1705. He and Martha Causey were married in 1731 in Craven County, South Carolina. Martha was born about 1710.
