SHADRACH CARLTON was born about 1796 in Duplin County, North Carolina. He married Catherine Sloan in 1812. They moved several times: from North Carolina to Georgia in 1828, then to Coffee County, Alabama in 1844, then to Cherokee County, Texas. The couple had these eight children: Margaret (b.1814), Harmon (b.1817), Susan (b.1818), Elva (b.1821), John (b.1825), Isaac, Snider (b.1830), and Catherine (b.1833). Shadrach Carlton died in Houston, Texas on March 16, 1859. Catherine Sloan was born in 1796 in Duplin County, North Carolina.
DAVID CARLTON was born on May 10, 1757 in Craven County, South Carolina. He married Burnita Porter on October 6, 1785 in Duplin County, North Carolina. They had these five children: Shadrach (b.1796), Tabitha, Henry (b.1797), Catherine, and Rebecca. David Carlton died on September 14, 1845 in Duplin County, North Carolina.
JOHN CARLTON was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He and wife Ferebee had these six children: William, David (b.1757), Isaac (b.1759), Peter (b.1761), Lewis (b.1763), Hardy (b.1764).
