Hello everyone, and thank you for the wonderful response! I am adding information as quickly as possible. Some pages will have a small amount of information, however, I wanted to list the persons COWART family connection, and fill in later. You will notice new features added on a daily basis- Site counter, Guestbook, and a SEARCH ENGINE. I want to make this site as user friendly as possible. These features are useful to everyone, and they can help in your research. You will find I am not putting photographs on pages, however, you can go to the Source Information page and find the pictures. Please invite others interested in the COWART surname, for this will help spread the word.
A little information on myself. Since Feb 1992, I got the genealogy bug. It started with the miniseries- "Roots", and the reading of "Roots" by, Alex Haley. I quickly discovered that you start with known information about yourself, and work your way back to each ancestor. Family oral tradition can hold some seed of truth, however, one must take all known facts and go from there. For instance, I had to go from memory, and thought my paternal great grandfather was Samuel Braden Cowart. I searched from 1992, for this elusive ancestor. It was not until 1998 that I discovered (from my grandfather's obituary and death certificate) my great grandfather was actually THOMAS WASHINGTON COWART!
Through proven methods, such as given steps in the book, Unpuzzling your Past, I discovered you can piece together your past. It is my sincere hope, this site will help you find your COWART, COWARD, or COWHERD FAMILY TREE.
