Westport Man, 77, Succumbs to May 4 Injuries

Jarrett N. Keith, 77, a widely-known Westport citizen, passed away at the Memorial hospital here Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Mr. Keith had been confined to the hospital since May 4, when he
sustained a broken hip in a fall. On Feb. 8, 1936, he had suffered a paralytic stroke.

Born in Missouri on May 8, 1860, he had come to the Westport community when a child. His parents were James H. and Suzanna VanTreese Keith. Practically his entire life was spent in the Westport community. For a number of years he was a photographer and later operated a barber shop.

In September, 1882, he was married to Miss Martha Glasscock, who died on August 13, 1916. His marriage, to Mrs. Martha A. Bollinger, took place on Nov. 23,1926.

Surviving Mr. Keith are the wife; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Iva) Byerline, and Mrs. Paul (Geraldine) Moore, of Anderson; a brother, John Keith, of Westport; and five grandchildren.

Funeral rites will be held at the Hostetler Bros. chapel at Westport Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. J. C. Nicholson will officiate. Burial will be in the Westport cemetery.
