Elwood Leonard of Sweet Valley, killed by Wilkes-Barre & Northern runaway near Dallas. 10. Miss Regina Sheridan, 21 years, burned to death at Upper Pittston. 10. Robert Emmett, 3 years old, burned to death at Pittston. 10. Son of Albert Vickers, 2 years old, burned to death near Parsons. 15. Anthony Kornick, smothered to death on culm bank at Duryea. 18. Simon Norcah, killed by a Plains electric car at Suburban Park. 19. August Pjurets of Scranton, fell on ice at Duryea and was killed. 20. Peter Johnson, 18 years, drowned in reservoir in Wilkes-Barre Township. 23. Susan, daughter of John Martin, 13 years, burned to death near Ashley. February 1987 4. Irvin Smith, 3 years old, Wilkes-Barre, shoots himself dead. 11. John Drake of Wyoming, killed by falling earth while excavating in Wilkes-Barre. 12. Child of Leopold Studley of Ashley burned to death. 17. Gus Mendellson, found dying from opium poisoning in East Market street laundry. 21. Mrs. Anna Moran, burned to death at Inkerman. March 1987 9. Mrs. Richard Gangloff of Plymouth, burned to death. 11. George Urach, found dead on a culm dump at Pittston. 14. John Vandeburg of Pittston, dies as result of fall. 19. James Murphy of Beach Haven faints and falls into a fire. 23. John Kennedy of Wilkes-Barre, killed by walking off D. & H. bridge. 24. Michael Magee of Nanticoke, asphyxiated by gas at Mauch Chunk. 28. Mrs. Margaret Dougher of Wyoming dies as a result of burns. 30. John Gibbons, poisoned by drinking tea, at Pittston. April 1987 14. H. K. Keeler of Mountain Top, killed by falling from scaffolding. 17. Mrs. James Connell of Plymouth, burned to death. 20. Child of Stephen Roscos of Plymouth, burned to death. 23. John Locke, 2 ½ years, burned to death, Wilkes-Barre. May 1987 12. Child of Michael Solinski, 14 years, drowned in tub of water at Pittston. 12. Child of John Pulatka,, 6 years, burned to death at Pittston. 16. Alfred Cooper of Nanticoke, 17 years, killed by touching live electric wire. 18. David, son of Richard Morgan of Plymouth, drowned at that place. 21. Michael McGarrity and Andrew Garitz, killed by an explosion in a vat in McGarrity’s distillery, Hazelton. 24. Charles R. Higgs of Wilkes-Barre, found dead with gas turned on. 25. Joseph Conrad killed in sewer trench at Hazelton. June 1987 15. John Kreshanski, killed by lightning at Nanticoke. 21. Thomas Morris of Nanticoke, killed at Queen’s Jubilee celebration. July 1987 1. John Zoric, 11 years. Grand Tunnel, drowned in the river. 1. Child of Peter Hochreiter of Wilkes-Barre, scaled to death. 5. John Zerko of Kingston, drowned in the river while bathing. 5. George van Buskie of West Pittston drowned in the river while bathing. 5. John, son of Mr. & Mrs. John J. Kitchen of Wilkes-Barre, 2 years, killed by streetcar. 7. Wilson Heller of Pittston Junction, drowned in the river while bathing. 7. Ann Suvotch, 2 years, killed by train in North Wilkes-Barre. 10. Patrick Munley of Pittston, drowned in the river, aged 18. 17. Patrick Madden of Pittston, killed by street car. 19. Child of Mr. & Mrs. John Stanford of Ashley, 2 years, burned to death. 22. John Higgins, killed by powder magazine explosion at Empire mine, Wilkes-Barre. 23. Joseph Renshaw, 11 years, killed by lightning in swamp near Upper Lehigh. 24. Patrick McAfee of Parson, killed by falling down river bank. August 1897 8. Mary Gibbons of Pittston, burned to death while trying to start a fire. 16. One-year-old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Shovlin of Midvale, drowned in a tub of water. 31. Child of Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Andrack of Plymouth Township, drowned in a tub of water. September 1897 2. Child of E. W. DeWitt of West Pittston, burned to death. 3. Superintendent Alonzo Houser of Duryea, killed by falling from trolley car. 20. John Evans of Wilkes-Barre, killed by falling from abutment at Brookside bridge. 23. Patrick Donohue of Plymouth, breaks his neck by falling down stairs. October 1897 9. Paul, son of Rev. Wm. D. McArthur of West Pittston, 9 years, shot to death by his brother, 11 years, accidently. 10. Thomas Parry of Dorranceton, dies of injuries caused by falling from street car. 15. Freas Shales (Shields) of Port Blanchard, killed by electric car. 15. James, son of Joseph Dirner, burned to death in Wilkes-Barre. 27. John Bolandey, killed by street cat at Smithville. 27. John Lacovitch of Wilkes-Barre, killed by falling from bridge on Central railroad in Wilkes-Barre. 29. Mrs. Louise Meisner, dies as result of shock from broken hip sustained seven weeks before. 29. Rosalind Gallind, 16 months, Ebervale, killed by mine engine. 30. Andrew Gaugh and Anthony Coma, killed by sewer trench cave-in in Wilkes-Barre. November 1897 1. Mrs. Celia Ward of Hazleton, burned to death in Hazleton fire. 13. Adam, son of Mrs. Joseph Gould, 4 years, scalded to death at Laflin. 17. Stephen Lupcock, killed in a quarry of Lattimer. 19. Harry, son of Mrs. James Leggett, 3 years, Wilkes-Barre, dies from taking poison. 25. Edward Barrett of Avoca, dies of injuries sustained by placing burning tobacco in his jacket. December 1897 1. John Brennan of Plymouth, dies as a result of fall. 13. William H. Law, burned to death in Simpson & Watkin’s store at Duryea. 21. Michael Burke of Avoca, killed by Central Railroad train near there.
