1915 WILKES-BARRE RECORD ALMANAC CAPITAL CRIMES IN 1914 During the year 1914 there were fourteen homicides in Luzerne County, the lowest number in some years. In 1913 there were twenty-one, in 1912 thirteen, in 1911 fifteen, in 1910 fourteen, in 1909 fifteen, in 1908 fourteen, in 1907 fourteen, in 1906 thirteen, in 1905 twelve, in 1904 eight and in 1903 ten. December 10, 1913, not included in last year’s almanac, STEPHEN LUCAS of PITTSTON. 58 years, was found dead at North Avoca with a bullet in his heart, having been murdered by fellow employees at the colliery at which he worked. July 2, FELIX MIEVILEDOSKI of GLEN LYON had his jugular vein severed during a quarrel. July 8, JOHN W. JONES of WILKES-BARRE died as a result of injuries sustained in a scuffle, having been kicked in the abdomen. July, “TONY” ROSS of HUGHESTOWN was shot to death in a fight. July 8, JOHN HORNISTY of EXETER, 22 years, was found alongside a railroad track, with indications that he was murdered. July 13, ALEXANDER MARINHO of DUPONT was shot to death during a quarrel. August 2, JOHN BUNOT of PORT GRIFFITH was stabbed to death as a result of an argument. August 31, JOSEPH BOREO of KEYSTONE SETTLEMENT, 19 years, shot and killed Mrs. FRED BALORDI and PASQUALO SCANI, presumably because of a love affair, and then committed suicide. September 26, CONRAD RUMEDIL of HAZLETON, 52 years, was found with a bullet wound in his body. He was a section foreman and it was supposed that he was murdered to satisfy a private grudge. September 26, GAUTANO ROSSI, 38 years, shot to death in the new Boston slope of the Hillside Coal and Iron Co. near Yatesville after he refused to give up his pay to a masked robber. October 11, JOSEPH DOMONICO of PITTSTON died from a bullet wound inflicted a week previous by a companion with whom he had quarreled. October 21, DAVID KUNKLE shot to death at Kunkle in a dispute over a sale. November 17, MRS. JOSEPH KARNI of WILKES-BARRE almost beheaded by her husband during a quarrel. In November LUIGI CORSALETTI of BOSTON SETTLEMENT was shot by a boarding house keeper for alleged intimacy with the latter’s wife. Typed by a CHG member and volunteer (Sue Wagner)
