Jesse Leverne Costin, 83, passed peacefully from his earthly home on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home with family at his side.

He was born September 20, 1933 in Pender County, the son of the late Jessie Ebern and Estelle Walker Costin. Jesse was preceded in death by his sister, Bessie Harris and brother, Ebern Enos “Sandy” Costin.

Jesse is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Flora Horrell Costin; son, Randy Costin (Betsy); daughters, Gay C. Johnson (Roy) and Camille Harrell (Randy); daughter-in-law, Angie Costin; grandchildren, Andrea Costin, Jessica Costin, Jared Johnson (Ivy), Chase Harrell and MacKenzie Harrell; great grandson, Banks Strickland; sister, Lessie Costin Carter; many extended family and friends.

Jesse served his country honorably in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Miller Mott Business School. Being a master welder, Jesse was retired from Babcock and Wilcox “B & W” and continued his metal artistry by working in his own shop, Costin’s Welding. He was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Jesse was a loving husband and wonderful daddy, granddaddy and brother who dearly loved and took good care of his family. He had a warm heart, giving spirit and the most endearing sense of humor. Jesse’s passing leaves an empty place at our family table and most of all in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 11:00 am to 12 noon on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church with service beginning at 12 noon in the church sanctuary. The Reverend Gardner Eakins and Chaplain Major General Dondi E. Costin, USAF will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Walker Family Cemetery.

The family will also receive friends at the Costin residence.
