Raye Wethington Woodcock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend of Maple Hill and formerly of Atkinson passed from her earthly life, Friday, October 8, 2021 at the age of 98.

She was born November 8, 1922 in Grifton, the daughter of Henry Reaves Wethington and Mabel Bessie Skinner Wethington. In addition to her parents, Raye was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Wilbur Curtis Woodcock.

Raye is survived by her children, Neil Woodcock (Brenda), Henry Woodcock (Julie), and Nancy W. DeGrant (Kenneth); grandchildren, Kenneth Woodcock (Michele), Angela Garcia-Lamarca (Morgan), Heather Carlson (Greg), Curtis Woodcock, Rebecca Kurylo (Matt), Lauren Woodcock, Kenneth DeGrant (Jasamyn), and Curtis DeGrant; eleven great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Raye's journey on earth was well lived with love, joy, laughter, dancing, cartwheels, and best of all being a great homemaker, loving and caring for her family. In years past, Raye was engaged in numerous community activities, loved playing bridge, participated in Senior Games, and was active in Caswell Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. Raye's radiant smile, glorious laughter and place in our family circle will never be forgotten.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Woodcock Cemetery, Beatty's Bridge Road, Atkinson. The Rev. Richard Goodman and The Rev. Dr. William R. Goodman, Jr. will conduct the service. Prior to the service casket will be open for walk by viewing from 10:30 a.m. until hour of the service. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery following the graveside service.
