| 3 NOVEMBER 1837, Friday Suddenly, at Trewhiddle, near St. Austell, on Monday last, aged 69 years, Mr. John Polkinghorne, cousin of the late Francis Polkinghorne, Esq., whose death we announced a short time since; the deceased on Monday morning had a fit, but soon recovered, and was as well as usual through the day; about ten o'clock, he went to bed and in a few minutes was discovered by one of the family, who had occasion to go into the bedroom, quite dead. At St. Austell, on Sunday last, aged 2 years, Richard, only child of Mr. Richard Hocking, halter. At Fowey, this week, the infant son of Mr. Marks, shipbuilder. On Thursday last, at the New Inn, Truck-hill, Probus, Mrs. Goodfellow, aged 59 years. At St. Lawrence, Bodmin, on Wednesday last, Mr. Joseph Merrifield, aged 46 years, leaving a wife and large family to lament their loss. 10 NOVEMBER 1837 At Truro, on Wednesday last, in the 18th year of her age, Clara, eldest daughter of Mr. Parkyn, draper &c. At Lowertown, in Wendron, on Friday last, Richard, son of Mr. John Pryor, yeoman, aged 14 years. Lately, at Ladock, after a long illness, Mr. S. T. Juliffe, aged 36 years, much respected by all who knew him. At St. Austell, on Friday last, aged 71 years, Mr. John Wheeler. Throughout a long life, he stood high in the estimation of his fellow townsmen for integrity and uprightness, and few if any have die in the neighbourhood who were more respected whilst living, or whose memory will be more cherished by all classes. His last illness was long, but sustained with resignation; and he closed his mortal career in full assurance of everlasting life beyond the grave. Suddenly, at St. Austell, on Sunday last, Miss Thomasine Williams, aged 21 years. On the 29th ultimo, at her residence, Teignmouth, in the 82nd year of her age, Susan, Dowager Viscountess Exmouth, relict of the Hon. Edward Viscount Exmouth, G.C.B., Vice-Admiral of England, &c, &c., a woman of deep and unaffected piety, and exemplary in every relation of life. 17 NOVEMBER 1837, Friday On Wednesday, at Truro, Mr. Michael Pascoe, aged 73 years, after a protracted illness, which he bore with Christian resignation. At Padstow, on Friday last, after a lingering illness, Mr. John Hockin, cooper, aged 70 years. On Sunday last, at Flushing, Mr. John Brewer, aged 76; for many years a member of the Wesleyan Methodists. His end was peace. At Redruth, on Wednesday last, much respected and beloved, Miss Mary Carbis, aged 50 years, daughter of the late Mr. Wm. Carbis, of that town. At Helston, on the 8th instant, Nanny, daughter of Mr. James Ellis, spirit merchant, aged 4 years. On Saturday last, at Liskeard, suddenly, Mrs. Parsons, wife of Mr. Parsons, formerly of Lanreath. At St. Austell, on Thursday last, Mr. George Geach, sen., in his 90th year, highly respected and esteemed by all who knew him. He retained his faculties to the last. At St. Austell, yesterday, aged 45, Mrs. Clemes, wife of Mr. W. Clemes, Hatter. She was seized with an apopletic fit on Monday evening, and although every means were resorted to which medical skill could devise, she expired on the day above named; she was a member of the Society of Friends, and as such walked worthy of her vocation; a bereaved husband and six children are left to lament the loss of a wife and mother who was every way worthy of their esteem and regard; her end was peace. 24 NOVEMBER 1837, Friday At Truro, on Wednesday last, Mr. Ambrose Jane, aged 42 years. At Truro, on Tuesday last, on which day he attained his 80th year, Mr. James Drew. At Falmouth, on Sunday last, Mr. P. Guy, aged 79 years. On Friday last, at his residence in London, aged 35 years, Mr. Charles Wesley Thomas, formerly of Exeter, and brother of the Rev. J. W. Thomas, Wesleyan minister of St. Austell. He possessed considerable talents for public speaking, and was a powerful advocate of the cause of the British and Foreign Temperance Society. At St. Austell, on Monday last, Eliza Frances, eldest daughter of D. R Robinson, Esq., surgeon, aged 18 years.� She bore a long affliction with patience and resignation, and died in peace with a full hope of everlasting life. On Friday, the 17th instant, at Liverpool, aged 22 years, Henrietta, youngest daughter of the late Mr. Jelleff, R.N. of Falmouth. On Saturday last, at Ludgvan, after a protracted affliction, which he bore with exemplary patience and the greatest fortitude, Mr. Robert Trewren, aged 61 years.� He was a consistent member of the Wesleyan Methodist Society, for thirty-two years, thirty of which he filled the offices of local preacher and class leader, and was in truth an excellent Christian, and a bright example to his fellow creatures. At Hayle, on Friday last, Mr. James Oatey, aged 36 years. � At Bodmin, on Tuesday last, Miss Pomery, daughter of the late Rev. Joseph Pomery, vicar of St. Kew. {end} |
