| 1 SEPTEMBER 1837, Friday On Saturday last, at Truro, Mr. Thomas Cavell, furrier &c., aged 64 years. At Truro, on Tuesday last, William Bennett, eldest son of Mr. Hugo, dyer, aged 6 years. At Penryn, on Monday last, the wife of Mr. James Jennings, carpenter, aged 77 years. At Redruth, on Sunday last, Mr. John Dunstan, for many years a class-leader in the Methodist society. At Falmouth, on Saturday last, suddenly, Capt. W. James, for many years Commander in the packet services. On Sunday last, at Camborne, Miss Susannah Clark Harris, a member of the Methodist Society, aged 21 years. 8 SEPTEMBER 1837, Friday At Truro, on Tuesday last, at the house of her nephew, Mr. C. Hawke, Mary, widow of the late Mr. Thomas Ferris, aged 71 years. At Bonnie river, on the coast of Africa, Thomas, eldest son of T. Nicholas, Esq., solicitor, Truro, aged 25 years. On Thursday last, at her brother's house, Penzance, to which place she had gone for the benefit of her health, the amiable and only surviving daughter of the late Mr. Oliver Matthews, of Helston. � The father and his two daughters have all sunk into the grave within the last few months, thus affording to mankind another striking proof that "all flesh is grass". At Genoa, on the 10th ult., of cholera, after a few hours illness, Robert, son of the late Captain Robert Banks, of Charlestown, aged 18 years. The deceased belonged to the "Lady of the Lake", of Penzance, and was at Genoa with the vessel, when he was seized with the dreadful malady which terminated his earthly career. At Helston, on Tuesday last, much respected by her numerous circle of friends, and regretted by her neighbours, Mrs. Thomas Treloar, after an illness of five weeks, which was borne with Christian fortitude. At Lostwithiel on Sunday last, Mary, the wife of Mr. James Parkin, aged 53 years. At Bodmin, on Tuesday last, Mr. Thomas Jago, woolstapler, for many years a serjeant[sic] in the Royal Cornwall Militia. At Carnrosemary, St. Austell, on Monday last, Mrs. Christopher Coom, aged 73 years. Her end was peace. At St. Austell, on Wednesday, aged 38 years, Isabella, wife of the Rev. Richard Ray, Wesleyan Minister. Under the ministry of the late Rev. John Smith, she was brought to feel the power of divine truth, and for 19 years she sustained an irreproachable and exemplary character as a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Society. Her last illness, which was short, she sustained with fortitude and cheerful resignation. A few minutes before she breathed her last, her husband said to her "Jesus will support you", to which she replied "He does!" and soon she expired. 15 SEPTEMBER 1837, Friday At St. Ives, Mrs. Quick, wife of Mr. Paul Quick, joiner, aged 40 years. At Millbrook, on the 31st of August, aged 13, Catherine, third daughter of James Rundle, Esq. R.N. On Saturday last, at Camborne, Mr. Thomas Odgers; and on Tuesday last, the wife of Mr. Gilbert Roberts, mine agent, aged 41 years. At Penzance, Capt. Hoskin, aged 82 years.� Also, Jane, fourth daughter of Mr. Badcock, grocer. 22 SEPTEMBER 1837, Friday At Penzance, on Wednesday, the 13th inst., Mr. David Williams, veterinary-surgeon aged 53 years, sincerely regretted by all who knew him. On Friday last, the wife of Mr. George Yelland, of St. Stephen's Coombe, universally respected and lamented. [The death notice for the wife of George YELLAND would be for his first wife Mary (nee ARTHUR) age 35 who was buried on 15 September 1837. George was a farmer (yeoman) at Coombe. Mary was my wife's great great great aunt. At Breage, on Monday last, Miss Nanny Penberthy, after a few days illness. At Nanpuska, in Phillack, on Monday last, of inflammation of the brain, Henry, son of Mr. Richard Rosewarne, aged 20 years; his manner endeared him to all who knew him, and he is deeply regretted by a large circle of relatives and friends. At Porkellis, in Wendron, on Tuesday last, Mr. Thomas Richards, innkeeper of that place, and formerly of the Leland brewery, aged 75 years. On Wednesday last, at Charlestown, aged 32 years, Jane, wife of Mr. Richard Browne. 29 SEPTEMBER 1837, Friday On the 18th instant, at St. Just, near Penzance, after an illness of 16 months, of dropsy, Mr. Jonathan Chappel, aged 59 years. On Friday last, at Creed, Mr. Thomas Wellington, aged 44 years, generally beloved and esteemed by all who knew him. On Thursday se'nnnght, at Tywardreath, Mrs. Bartlett, of the Commercial Inn, aged 37 years. At Falmouth, on Monday last, the infant daughter of Mr. A. Davidson. On Monday last, at Trevear, in the parish of Gorran, Mr. W. Cowling, late of Perranzabuloe, aged 92 years. At Paul, on Wednesday last, Mary, wife of Mr. Robert Mathews, for some time a member of the Wesleyan Society, aged 21 years. {end} |
