On Tuesday last, at the Independent chapel, Castle street, Launceston, James Logg to Patience Gilbert. This being the first marriage which has taken place in Launceston under the New Marriage Act, we congratulate the Dissenters of that town that they now enjoy, in common with persons who attend the Established Church, the right of having the solemnities of the marriage ceremony performed in a manner most in accordance with their own views and feelings. The ceremony on the occasion was conducted by the Rev. J. Horsey, minister of the chapel, with reading suitable portions of scripture - prayer - addresses - and the declaration of the form prescribed by the act. The judicious, faithful, and serious address of Mr. Horsey produced a very deep and solemn impression on the persons mostly interested, and the assembly then present.
