2 JULY 1841, Friday


At Truro, on Sunday last, Mr. Joseph TREGONING, aged 78 years, the oldest printer in the county.

On Tuesday last, at Truro, Joseph, youngest son of Mr. BROAD, builder, &c., aged 11 years.

At Helston, on the 20th ult., at the house of her father, the Rev. R. G. GRYLLS, aged 51 years, Frances, the beloved wife of the Rev. William VEALE, of Trevayler, after a long and painful illness, borne with the greatest patience and resignation.

On Thursday, the 24th ult., George, son of Mr. George EGGINGS, Camelford, aged five years.

On Friday last, at St. Mabyn, Mr. Jonathan HARRY, aged 63 years.

At Bodmin, on Saturday, the 19th ultimo, after a short illness, Mary Ann, the beloved wife of Mr. William STEVENS, aged 32 years, leaving a young family to lament their loss, deeply regretted by a numerous circle of friends.

On Tuesday last, at Bodmin, Nicholas GROSE, Esq., of clan, in Lanivet, aged 73 years. He was a man highly respected in life, and has left numerous family and a large circle of friends to lament his loss.

At Penzance, on Monday last, Mr. Wm. BECKERIEG (?), aged 26 years.

On Wednesday last, at Camborne, the infant child of Mr. John TANGYE, jun.

On Sunday last, the 4th instant, at Trewithen, aged 80 years, John HAWKINS, Esq., of Bignor Park, in the county of Sussex, youngest son of Thomas Hawkins, Esq., of Trewithen, and brother of the late Sir Christopher Hawkins, Bart.

On Monday last, at Falmouth, Caroline, second daughter of the late Mr. James FURSE, H.M. packet service, aged 9 years.

Last week at Padstow, aged 86 years, Mrs. Elizabeth PETER, sister of the late Henry Peter, Esq., of Harlyn.

At Padstow, after a lingering illness, which she bore with Christian fortitude, Miss Betsey BOASE, aged 19 years; also William OLD, and Betsey BROWN, at an advanced age.

On Saturday last, at Perran Wharf, Mr. William TRESIDER, of the Norway Inn, aged 43 years.

On Saturday last, at St. Just in Penwith, Mrs. Loveday WARREN, wife of Mr. Richard Warren, schoolmaster.

On the 20th ult., at her casino, on the banks of the Lago di Como, Madame CATALINI, the great mistress of song, in the 61st year of her age.

At Calcutta, on the 11th of May, 1841, Mr. Charles F. REMFRY, formerly of Lemon-street, Truro, aged 27 years.

On the 5th instant, at No. 2, Brunswick-terrace, Plymouth, Elizabeth, the beloved wife of Charles FOX, Esq., and youngest daughter of Robert BAYLY, Esq., of the Inner Temple, London, aged 27 years.


16 JULY 1841, Friday


On Monday last, the 12th instant, at Trethowell, in the parish of Kea, Thomasine, second daughter of Mr. John MAGOR, a consistent member of the Society of Friends, aged 26 years.

At Falmouth, on Monday last, Mr. TRICE, aged 69 years.

At Trewartha, in Veryan, on Saturday last, Mr. Richard Drew STEPHENS, butcher, aged 25 years.

At Portscatha, in Gerrans, on Friday last, Capt. John PETERS, late of the schooner "Olive Branch," aged 53 years.

At East Looe, Mrs. W.G. HILL, late of Marazion, aged 32 years.

At Hayle, on Tuesday last, after only two days' illness, aged 30 years, Elizabeth, the beloved wife of Capt. John VIVIAN, jun., of the "Herald" steamer, and daughter of Mr. Richard ROSEWARNE, of Nanpusker, in Phillack. This event has plunged her numerous relatives and friends in the deepest distress; as it might be truly said of her, that those who knew her best, esteemed her most.

On Tuesday last, in Clarence-street, Penzance, Mrs. J. P. DAVY, aged 3 years.

On the 7th instant, at Penzance, John NICHOLAS, son of Mr. HAWKEN, Supervisor, of Excise, aged 14 years.

Suddenly, on Sunday morning, the 4th inst., at Colne, in Lancashire, Mr. William DAWSON, the well-known Wesleyan preacher, aged 68 years.

At sea, returning from the West Indies, Joseph, son of John MARTYN, Esq., of Tintagel, aged 16 years.


23 JULY 1841, Friday


In Calenick-street, Truro, on Thursday, the 15th inst., Mr. John KNIGHT, butcher, aged 49 years; and on the same day, Mr. COE, who formerly kept the Angle Inn, aged 46 years.

At her father's house, Bodmin, on the 22nd instant, Sarah Phillippa, only daughter of John Cole GROSE, Esq., aged 16 years. "For her to live with Christ, and to die was gain."

At Perran Porth on Friday last, Mr. Jacob PROUT, aged 79 years.

At St. Agnes, on Saturday last, after a short illness, Mr. Anthony ROWSE, aged 73 years.

At Helston, on the 13th instant, Miss Elizabeth BALSDON.

On Sunday last, at Penzance, Mr. SELIG, aged 59 years.

On Friday last, at Penzance, the infant child of Mr. J.P. DAVY.

At Launceston, on the 7th instant, of consumption, Eleanor, wife of Mr. William PEARSE, surgeon, aged 46 years.

On the 9th inst., at Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, to the great grief of his afflicted family, William BEVAN, Esq., of Swansea, E.C., in his 68th year.


30 JULY 1841, Friday


At Perran Porth, on Friday last, Mr. Jacob PROUT, aged 79 years.

At his father's house, Lostwithiel, on the 22nd instant, of organic affection of the heart, having been a severe sufferer from epilepsy for the last 13 years, Astley Cooper, eldest son of Mr. BELLING, surgeon. His end was peace.

At Camelford, on Tuesday last, of consumption, Adelaide, second daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Rosevear SLOGGATT, aged 21 years.

On Thursday, the 22nd instant, at Liskeard, Mr. Joseph ELLIOTT, aged 21 years.

At Padstow, on the 22nd instant, Mr. George HICKS, aged 83 years.

At St. Ives, on the 23rd instant, Jane, the wife of Mr. James SIMMONS, aged 50 years. Also, the infant son of Mr. John DANIEL.

At Hayle, on the 22nd inst., of pressure on the brain, James EDGCOME, son of Mr. Thos. BRYANT, registrar, aged 6 years.

On Wednesday se'nnight, at Penrose-terrace, Penzance, Mr. John ROWLAND, aged 82 years.

At Penzance, on Monday last, Mrs. Rd. BRANWELL, aged 70 years.

At Roche, on Friday last, Mr. Nicholas HOSKIN, aged 86 years. He was a large proprietor of tin streams, from which he accumulated a considerable sum of money. Also, on Sunday, Mr. Robert PHILLIPPS, aged 46 years, much regretted by a numerous circle of friends and acquaintances.

At Torpoint, after a severe illness, in the 51st year of her age, Mary Ann, the widow of Lieut LINK, R.N.

On Wednesday, the 21st instant, at Launceston, aged 67 years, Christopher JOPE, who had lived in the capacity of post-boy at the White Hart Inn, with Mr. PROCKTER and his ancestors, 47 years, during which period it is computed he had travelled upwards of 200,000 miles. On examining, after his death, an old pair of small clothes, upwards of �700 in guineas and sovereigns were found, the fruits of his industry, and which from having no confidence in the banks had accumulated there for a quarter of a century at least. He was a general favourite with the public, to whom he was known, and was indeed an honest and faithful servant
