1 JULY 1842, Friday


On Friday last, John, on Saturday, Elizabeth, and on Monday, Emily, son and daughters of Mr. John GEACH, jun., of St. Agnes.

At Truro, on the 27th ultimo, after a long illness, William Henry JOHN, Esq., solicitor, aged 31 years.

On Sunday last, at St. Allen, after a short illness, the Rev. George KEMP, vicar of that parish, aged 42 years.

On Friday last, at Probus, Mrs. SEARLE, wife of Mr. John SEARLE, aged 85 years. During her long and truly Christian life, she was remarkable for genuine humility, sincerity of friendship, and love to the poor. The relations of daughter, wife and mother, she sustained with a fidelity and affection rarely equaled, and her memory is deeply implanted in the feelings of her surviving children. Her end was peace.

At Helston, on the 25th instant, Laura Frances, youngest daughter of Mr. Wm. LAMPEN, aged 2 years and 3 months.

At St. Ives, on Sunday last, the infant daughter of Capt. W. BOASE; and Thomas, son of Mr. William CHAMPION, aged 11 years.

On Monday last, at Penzance, Mrs. W. S.. aged 44 years; and Mrs. B. BOTTRELL, aged 34 years.

On Thursday se'nnight, at Penzance, the infant child of Mr. HEMMINGS, chemist, &c.

At Kirland, near Bodmin, on the 5th ultimo, Mrs. HAMLEY, wife of Capt. Hamley,R.N.

On Monday se'nnight, at Bodwain, in the parish of Lanlivery, Mary Ann, daughter of Mr. John CORY, butcher &c., aged 14 years.

On Thursday se'nnight, at Launceston, Mr. Nicholas ELLIOTT, aged 47 years.

Lately, at Stonehouse, Major-General Harry Perceval LEWIS, R.M, aged 75 years.

On the 30th ult., at Truro, Emma Morgan, daughter of Mrs. WILLIAMS, Bear Inn, aged 8 years.

On Thursday, the 30th ultimo, at Truro, George Buzza, son of Mr. William JENKIN, in the 3rd year of his age.

At Truro, on Saturday last, Jacob John Corin, eldest son of Mr. Jacob Corin EDWARDS, Boscawen-street, aged 4 years.

On Sunday last, at Truro, William, infant son of Mr. Wm. CRADOCK, auctioneer, &c.

On Sunday se'nnight, at St. Agnes, Mrs. EBBIT, wife of Mr. EBBIT, of the coast-guard service, who, it will be remembered, caught her dress on fire about six weeks ago, when the injuries she received occasioned her death.

On the 28th ultimo, at Falmouth, after a protracted illness, George Gordon CROKE, the infant sonof Lieut. Wentworth CROKE, R.N.

At Falmouth, on Friday last, Mr. Samuel HALLAMORE, formerly of H. M. Customs, aged 92 years.

On Sunday last, at Tremelling, in the parish of St. Erth, aged 81 years, Mr. James ROGERS, who had been a consistent member of the Wesleyan Methodist Society for upwards of half a century, and is deeply an deservedly lamented by a numerous circle of friends.

On Wednesday last, at Tregethas, in the parish of St. Erth, Mr. Henry LAITY, aged 44 years, his son, aged 2 years, having died on the preceding day.

On Saturday last, at St. Ives, Mr. Henry WILLEY, shipbuilder, aged 57 years.

On the 3rd instant, at St. Ives, Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. Martin ROACH, aged 9 years; and on the same day, the infant son of Mr. A. HART, blacksmith.

At Marazion, on the 5th instant, Jane, youngest daughter of Mr. Harvey, innkeeper, aged 20 years.

At Greastone, in the parish of Lezant, Mr. MITCHELL, son of Mrs. Mitchell, of Greastone, aged 21 years.

On Monday last, at Penzance, Mrs. Mary HARRIS, aged 80 years.

On Saturday last, at Buryan, Mr. James PERMEWAN, aged 54 years.

On Wednesday last, at Trevervn, in the parish of Probus, after a few days illness, Mr. Thomas PAULL, a most respectable yeoman of that parish.

At his residence, High Cross-street, St. Austell, on Thursday last, John Ennis BLACKMORE, Esq., surgeon, aged 49 years.

At Mevagissey, on Monday last, Miss Susan FURSE, aged 55 years.

At Bodmin, on Sunday last, Elenora PENROSE, relict of the late Joseph May WARD, Esq., aged 76 years.

On the 9th ultimo, at Davidstow, Mr. John TAYLOR, aged 68 years.

On the 27th ult., at Bishopsteignton, Devon, Captain Charles GILL, R.N. CB, an excellent seaman, a brave officer, and an honest friend; and on the 3rd instant, from extreme grief, Mrs. GILL, who was six days a widow of the lamented Captain.

On the 30th ult., at his seat, Longford Hall, Derbyshire, in the 91st year of his age, Thomas Wilson COKE, first Earl of Leicester of that line.

On the 28th June, at No. 12, Queen-square, Bloomsbury, in his 82nd year, Robert BAYLY, Esq., one of the Benchers of Grays Inn.

Suddenly, yesterday, whilst on his road from St. Austell to Truro, Mr. JOHN COUCH, builder, of the latter place, aged 82 years.

At Penair, near Truro, MRS. JAMES, aged 33 years.

On the 12th instant, at Probus, MRS. CARVETH, aged 76 years.

On Friday last, at Trewithen, St. Stephens in Branwell, JANE, daughter of the late Mr. RICHARD CUNDY, aged 16 years.

On the 10th instant, at Helston, the wife of Mr. PETER ROBERTS, aged 25 years.

At Hayle, on Friday last, the wife of CAPT. STEVENS, of the schooner "Mary," aged 37 years.

On Monday last, at Hayle, MRS. ELIZABETH OATS, aged 33 years.

On Sunday last, at Phillack, Mr. JOHN WILLIAMS, sexton of the parish, aged 65 years.

At Trevellas Coombe, St. Agnes, on Wednesday, the 6th inst., MR. JACOB TONKIN, aged 87 years.

At Probus, on the 13th instant, MR. RICHARD HOOPER, carpenter, aged 24 years.

At Treworthal, in Philleigh, on the 13th instant, ELIZABETH, aged 8 years, and on the 16th, CHARLES, aged 4 years, children of MR. AMOS COLLETT, of that place.

At St. Anthony in Roseland, on the 12th instant, MR. ISAAC KENDALL, carpenter, aged 62 years.

At St. Ives, on the 14th instant, MR. RICHARD RICHARDS, aged 58 years; on the 15th, the infant daughter of MR. POTTER, grocer, aged 3 years; and, on the 17th, the infant son of MR. HENRY TROUNCE

On Tuesday se'nnight, at Penzance, RICHARD POTTER, Esq., formerly M.P. for Wigan, aged 67 years.

On the 9th instant, at her father's residence, in George-street, Plymouth, HELEN, younger daughter of JOSEPH COLLIER COOKWORTHY, Esq., M.D aged 15 years.

At Portsmouth, the REV. JONATHAN EDMONSON, who was sent into the work of the Wesleyan Ministry by MR. WESLEY, in 1786, and filled the stations of Missionary Secretary and President of the Conference. He was in his 76th year.

On Thursday, the 14th instant, at Grove-House, Surry-square, near London, EGERTON FREDERICK, second son of PAUL and JULIA NINNIS, aged 8 years and 3 months.

On the 6th of March, at sea, on his passage from Java to Falmouth, J. TOWNSHEND DONOVAN, Esq., of Sourabaya, in that island, and son of the late D DONOVAN, Esq., of the 11th regiment, who was mortally wounded at the battle of Salamanca.

At Pettigo, Ireland, MR. GEORGE ALLINGHAM, sen., in his 100th year. The united ages of his mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, extended 300 years, and adding him, in a direct line, their united ages exceed 400 years. He lived contemporary with his great-grandmother for nearly 20 years, and from her own lips received an account of the siege of Derry, in which place she was one of the sufferers during the entire siege. [per Wikipedia, the siege took place 1688-1689 in Londonderry, also called Derry, Ireland. It lasted 105 days, and 4,000 people, about half the population, died from famine, disease, and cannonballs. jm]

At Tresick-row, near Truro, on Monday last, SIBELLA, wife of Mr. JOHN JORDAN, B.N., aged 68 years.

On Friday last, at Higher Calenick, near Truro, MRS. THOMAS, wife of MR. JAMES THOMAS, farmer, aged 47 years.

At his residence, Towan Cross, St. Agnes, on Friday last, much respected, Mr. JOHN GAYVE[?], aged 75 years.

On Friday last, at St. Agnes, EDWARD, only son of MR. E. WOOLCOCK, carpenter, aged 2 years.

At his seat, Trebartha Hall, in this county, on Saturday, the 23rd instant, sincerely and deeply lamented, the Rev. EDWARD RODD, Doctor of Divinity, in the 74th year of his age.

At Carnsmerry, St. Austell, on Monday last, MRS. H. BORLASE, aged 31 years.

At Rescorla, in the parish of St. Ewe, on the 20th inst., MR. WM. BURN, shoe maker, aged 77 years.

At Mevagissey, at the residence of MR. S. R. JAGO, a few days since, greatly respected, MR. RICE, in the prime of life.

On Tuesday last, at Hayle, MRS. GILBERT, wife of Mr. WILLIAM GILBERT, cabinet maker, aged 43 years.

On Monday last, at Hayle, the infant daughter of MR. JOHN WEST.

On the 25th inst., at St. Ives, the infant son of MR. JOHN ROWES, aged 9 months.

At Marazion, on the 23rd inst. MR. BENJAMIN SEMMONS, aged 20 years.

At Penzance, on Sunday last, Mr. D. TREE, aged 76 years.

On the 18th instant, the Rev. THOMAS MAY, Unitarian Minister, of Tavistock, after a long and lingering consumption.
