On Saturday last, at Truro, of a severe attack of croup, ALFRED GOODWIN TANCOCK, eldest son of the Rev. Dr. TANCOCK, aged 5 years.

On Sunday last, in Frances-street, Truro, FOSS[?], son of MR. E. COCK, of the Globe Inn, aged 4 years.

At Penair, near Truro, on the 25th ult., JOHN, the youngest son of Mr. JAMES JAMES.

At Gwarnick, near Truro, on Friday last, MR. KING.

On the 25th ult., at Phillack, much respected, in "the hope of the gospel," after a lingering and painful illness, Mr. LANCELOT STAMBURY, formerly an officer in the excise, and father of the Rev. H. STAMBURY, curate of that parish.

At Penryn, on Monday last, at an advanced age, MRS. SOWELL, relict of the late JOSEPH SOWELL, Esq., of that place.

On the 25th ult., at Flushing, of apoplexy, MR. ODGERS, mercer and tailor, a man of mild and amiable manners, and greatly esteemed by his family and all who were acquainted with him.

At Tippet's Shop, in Veryan, on Sunday last, LOUISA, daughter of MR. WM. COOMBE, aged two years.

At Camborne, on the 22nd ult., MR. JOHN TOCKER, formerly of Gwinear, aged 82 years.

On Saturday last, at Camborne, EMILY, youngest daughter of MR.JOSEPH REYNOLDS, jun., aged one year and six months.

On Wednesday last, at Camborne, MARY RICHARDS VINCENT, daughter-in-law of CAPT. S. LEAN, aged 16 years.

At St. Ives, on the 26th ult., the infant son of MR. JOHN LANDER, and the infant daughter of MR. JOHN HUDY; on the 27th, the infant son of MR. RICHARD PHILLIPS; and on the 30th, the infant son of MR. PAUL.

At Marazion, on the 24th ult., MRS. MARGARET SCADDAN, aged 74 years.

At Penzance, on the 27th ult., the wife of MR. WEAVER, porter merchant, &c.; and the wife of MR. THOMAS BATTEN, aged 48 years.

On the 11th ult., at St. Just in Penwith, MR. RICHARD OATS, aged 50 years.

At Launceston, on the 22nd ult., THOMAS GRAHAM, Esq., surgeon.

At Launceston, on Saturday last, SARAH, daughter of the REV. HENRY GROVES, Wesleyan Minister, aged 6 years.

At Southpetherwin, on Saturday last, MRS. SYMONS, widow, aged 70 years, late of the Cornish Inn, Launceston.

At Batch Pools, near Bridgenarth, Shropshire, on the 22nd ult., MR. JOSEPH BARNES, assistant-master of the Helston Commercial Academy, aged 85 years.

On Monday last, at his residence, at Hampstead, in consequence of a fall from his horse, THOMAS NORTON LONGMAN, Esq, the eminent Bibliopolist, of Paternosterrow, London.

On the 22nd of July, in Canada West, of billious fever, aged 26 years, MARIANNA, wife of MR. SAMUEL WILLSON, and eldest daughter of MR. JOHN TREFFRY, late of Truro.

On Saturday last, at St. Mary's, Scilly, THOMAS, infant son of CAPT. JOHN WETHERALL, of the schooner "Reynard."

At Truro, on Saturday, the 3rd instant, SAMUEL, the second son of Mr. J. B. JOB, draper, aged 6 years.

On the 1st instant, at Flushing, aged 90 years, MR. JAMES ODGERS, father of the Rev. W. J. ODGERS, Unitarian Minister, of Plymouth.

At Falmouth, on Saturday last, MR. GILSON, painter, son of the late MR. N GILSON, of that town, aged 23 years.

On Monday last, at Camborne, CAPT. ANDREW VIVIAN, aged 83 years.

On the 1st instant, at Helston, at the house of her brother-in-law, the Rev. WM. SLEEP, Wesleyan Minister, after a lingering illness, MRS. JENNINGS, aged 42 years.

On Friday morning last, at his residence in the Cloisters of Westminster Abbey, Dr. IRELAND, Dean of Westminster. The late dean had been an invalid for the last four years. He had nearly completed his 81st year, having been born on the 8th of September, 1761.

At Houndsditch, London, on the 24th ultimo, MRS. JAMES HAM, late of St. Austell, and formerly of Probus, aged 81 years.

In Pydar-street, Truro, on Monday, the 18th instant, RICHARD TAUNTON, youngest son of W. H. BULLMORE, Esq., in his 4th year.

On Wednesday last, at Truro, MARY HARRIS, aged 80 years, upwards of 50 of which she was servant to the late MR. BUCKLAND, druggist.

At Truro, on Friday last, after a short illness, JOHN, only son of MR. ASHTON, veterinary surgeon, aged 27 years.

At Truro, on Monday last, MARY, only daughter of MR. ADAMS, of the Swan Inn, aged 25 years.

At. Truro, on Saturday last, MR. WM. THOMAS, sawyer.

On the 8th instant, at Truro, MRS. JOLLY, aged 24 years.

At Probus, on Saturday lat, MR. ROBERT VARCON, aged 71 years.

On Monday last, at Falmouth, at an advanced age, MRS. YOUNG, relict of the late A. YOUNG, Esq., attorney, of that town.

On the 8th instant, at Marazion, MR. JOHN JACKA, aged 67 years.

On the 4th instant, at Trehurst, in the parish of Quethiock, MR. JOHN SNELL, aged 58 years.

On the 6th instant, at Trematon, near Saltash, MRS. HENRY LYNE, aged 45 years, leaving nine children, one only a few weeks' old, to lament the loss of a very affectionate mother.

On the 31st ult., at her residence in Bridgeland-street, Bideford, after a long and painful illness, MISS WALTER, eldest sister of the Rev. W. WALTER, rector of that parish.

Lately, at Cuba, where he had been about a year as mine agent, CAPT. WILLIAM HANCOCK, son of MRS. HANCOCK, lately of the King's Arms Town Inn, Marazion, aged 34 years.

On the 30th of June, at Delhi, after an illness of a few hours, in the 39th year of his age, CAPTAIN FRANCIS THOMAS, of the 73rd Regiment, N.I. Bengal Establishment, third son of GENERAL THOMAS, of Bluebayes House, Devon.

At Hobart Town, Van Dieman's Land, on the 30th of March, the REV. JOHN WATERHOUSE, general superintendant of the Wesleyan Missions in Australia and Polynesia.


23 SEPTEMBER 1842, Friday


On Sunday last, suddenly, in London, CAPTAIN EDWARD REYNOLDS SIBLY, R.N., late of Truro, aged 62 years. The deceased had much distinguished himself in the service, and was one of the few surviving officers of the glorious 1st of June, being midshipman of the "Royal George" in that action. He served in the East and West Indies, and when Lieutenant of the "Centaur" was severely wounded in cutting out of the Gironde the French sloop "C.er," of 18 guns and 86 men, for which he was promoted to the rank of Commander. Subsequently, in the "Swallow" brig, of 18 guns, he beat off, after a gallant action near Frejus, two heavy French brigs, under the then command of the present Admiral BAUDIN (who lately took the castle of San Juan de Ulloa) for which, and for assisting at the capture of a large convoy at Port D'Anzo, in 1812, he obtained his Post rank. Captain SIBLY was nephew of ADMIRAL REYNOLDS, who was lost in the "St. George" in 1811, on the coast of Holland.

At Truro, on Tuesday last, ELIZABETH TREGELLAS, relict of the late MR. SIMON LAWER, of that place, aged 53 years.

At Barkla Shop, St. Agnes, on Wednesday the 7th inst., MR. WILLIAM HARRIS, shoemaker, aged 76 years.

On the 15th instant, at Castle House, St. Agnes, JOHN TREGELLAS, only son of Mr. JOSEPH NEWTON, aged 8 years.

On Saturday last, at St. Agnes, MARGARET JANE, daughter of Mr. J. POWERS, of the Coast Guard Service, aged 10 years.

At Mawla, St. Agnes, on Monday last, MARY, eldest daughter of MR. REYNOLDS, yeoman, aged 15 years.

At St. Keverne, on Wednesday last, Mr. J. MICHELL, innkeeper, aged 36 years.

On Friday last, at Trevorrick Cottage, near St. Austell, much respected, MRS. WESTLAKE, aged 82 years.

At East Looe, on the 15th instant, MRS. BARTLETT, aged 66 years.

At West Looe, on the 13th instant, WILLIAM, son of Mr. ROBERT REATH, aged 16 years.

On Sunday last, at Halwill, in the parish of Davidstow, after a very short illness, sincerely regretted, ROBERT AVERY, son of JOHN PEARCE, Esq., aged 19 years.

On Tuesday last, at Redruth, MARY, relict of the late Mr. SIMON MEAD, aged 77 years, nearly 60 of which she was a member of the Methodist Society, and was respected and beloved by all who knew her.

At Marazion, on the 17th instant, at the house of his son-in-law, MR. LAITY, draper, MR. W. HARVEY, late of the Fire-Engine Inne, aged 49 years.

At Great Torrington, after a lingering illness, ANN, wife of the Rev. WILLIAM HILL, Wesleyan Minister, and daughter of the late Mr. JOHN EVANS, of Bideford, aged 24 years.

On the 14th instant, in Bread-street, London, after a few days of severe suffering, LYDIA, wife of MR. FREDERICK P. SIGSWORTH, and second daughter of the late Mr. GEORGE ARNALL, of Redruth, aged 29 years.

On Friday last, at Halkin, Flintshire, ANN, eldest daughter of CAPT. THOMAS WILLIAMS, of Halkin mines, (formerly of Redruth,) aged 20 years.

At Wareham, after a few days' illness, ANNA, the wife of Mr. THOMAS TRENCHARD, of the Three Tuns Inn, aged 33 years. Her death was occasioned by incautiously pricking with a pin a small gathering on her lip, which speedily assumed a most alarming appearance, the whole face and head swelling enormously, and at length producing mortification and death.

On the 6th instant, at Northwalsham, Norfolk, Mr. JOHN DAWE, draper, late of Saltash, aged 79 years.

At Penryn, on Monday last, MISS ELIZABETH HARRIS, aged 77 years.

On Monday last, at Sorens, in the parish of Probus, the wife of Mr. JOHN HUDDY.

At St. Columb, on Wednesday last, GEORGE RUSSELL, son of Mr. BOWISTO, painter, aged 4 years.

On the 21st instant, at Bodmin, after a few days' illness, MR. WM. MUDGE, late of Wadebridge, draper, &c., highly respected, aged 56 years.

Last week, at Three-hole-cross-gate, in Egloshayle, MRS. BLANCH DERRY, aged 85 years.

At Liskeard, on the 15th instant, MRS. CHURCH, aged .. years; and on the 16th, MRS. DAWE, aged 70 years, and MRS. BELMOND, aged 90 years.

At East Looe, on the 22nd instant, MR. STEED, aged 7.. years.

At St. Day, on Sunday last, MR. R. BAWDEN, aged 6.. years, much respected by all who knew him.

At St. Ives, THOMASINE, wife of Mr. HENRY BRYANT[?], aged 80 years; also, Catherine, daughter of MR. WILLIAM THOMAS, aged 12 years.

On Friday last, at Penzance, MARGARET, daughter of the late MR. DOWNING, printer, aged 11 years, and MR. RICHARD LANYON, aged 73 years; and, on Monday last, MR. WM. MORRIS, aged 59 years.

On the 19th instant, at Maidenhead, Berks, the REV. RICHARD TREFFRY, supernumerary Wesleyan Minister. The deceased was a native of this county, where he was well-known and greatly respected, and had been appointed once to the office of the President of the body in which for nearly half a century he was a highly worthy and successful minister.

On Friday last, at Dinnachapple, in the parish of St. Teath, after a few days illness, HESTER, daughter of MR. BENJAMIN HAWKEN, aged 22 years.

At Camelford, on the 22nd instant, the infant son of MR. EDWARD ARNALL.

Last week, at Boscastle, MR. REED, aged 25 years.

At Tavistock, MRS. DAWE, widow of the late Mr. JOHN DAWE, hatter, aged 45 years, leaving three children to lament their loss.

On the 21st instant, at Cawsand, near Plymouth, sincerely regretted by all who knew her, ELIZABETH, the beloved wife of CAPT. BETTY, R.N., and mother of MR. BETTY, organist of St. Austell.
