1845 DEATHS

JANUARY

3 JANUARY 1845, Friday

At Truro, on Wednesday last, of hooping cough, Alfred, son of Mr. GREENWOOD, draper, &c., aged 5 years. This is the third child Mr. GREENWOOD has lost by the same disease within the last four months.

At Chacewater, last week, Mrs. M. RICKARD, aged 58 years.

At St. Day, on the 2nd instant, Mr. James YOUREN, aged 75 years.

At Falmouth, on Friday last, Mr. John DUCKHAM, aged 73 years. This estimable man left his native town of Tiverton at an early age, and successfully engaged at Falmouth in maintaining the first classical school in the west of England, with the assistance of the late Rev. Mr. WHITEHEAD, and others; and from his establishment several young gentlemen emerged who now fill high and honourable offices both in the metropolis and in the country, in the army and navy, and also in the church. His assiduity reaped for him a competency, on which for many years prior to his decease he had retired. For nearly haf a century he held various parochial offices; and for a long period he was the secretary of the Falmouth Church Missionary Association, ---- all his services being gratuitous, and merely engaged in with a view to benefit others. His strict probity was remarkable in every transaction of life, which induced several persons having disputes to apply to him for arbitration; and in no case was he unsuccessful in obtaining satisfactory adjustments. After a short illness, he was removed from this world to the rest remaining for the people of God; and on Wednesday last his remains were committed to the tomb, followed by a very large concourse of sorrowing friends, the masonic brethren attending in due order, with the clergy of Falmouth and Penryn. At Breage, on the 26th ult., Mr. George CARTER, aged 57 years.

At Camborne, on Sunday last, Elizabeth Ann, daughter of Mr. H. RULE, hatter, aged 14 years,

At Chenait, in the parish of St. Erth, on the 22nd ultimo, Mr. Robert HOAR, aged 22 yeas.

At St. Erth Vicarage, on Saturday last, Schuyler, infant son of the Rev. J. PUNNETT.

At St. Ives, on Sunday last, Mrs. Margaret ROWE, aged 67 years; on Monday, Mr. F. PAYNTER, shipwright, aged 35 years; and Mr. Jno. UREN, gardener, aged 72 years.

At Marazion, on Saturday last, Frederick DAVENPORT, Esq. of Cobham Surrey, aged 33 years.

At Penzance, on Sunday last, Mr. R. POPE, aged 92 years; Mr. John FRIDAY, aged 81 years; Jane, wife of - not PAGE - Capt. GRENFELL, aged 80 years; and Mr. Wm. HENDY, of the Seven Stars Inn, aged 37 years.

At Boscathnoe, in the parish of Madron, on Friday last, after a protracted illness, Mr. William BILKEY, aged 61 years, upwards of forty of which he discharged with fidelity the duties of hind under the family connected with Seymour TREMENHEERE, Esq. His long practical experience in agriculture, with his general good knowledge of business, and unbiassed judgment, often led to his being called in on matters of reference between landowners and tenants, in which particular instance his loss will long be felt.

At Crantock, on the 25th ult., Mary, wife of Wm. MARTYN, Esq., aged 76 years.

At Cragmeer, near Padstow, on Saturday last, the wife of Mr. Charles OSBORNE, aged 23 years.

At St. Austell, on the 26th ult., Josiah, second son of Mrs. SANDERS, retail brewer, aged 20 years.

At Molingey, in the parish of St. Austell, on Sunday last, Mr. Wm. MAY, aged 76 years.

At Charlestown, Mr. Joseph ORGAN, aged 75 years.

At Fowey, on the 25th ult., Mr. Wm. UDY, blacksmith, aged 37 years.

At Liskeard, last week, Mr. MILTON, late master of Golden Bank School; and Mr. Thomas PENWARNE, of that town.

At Bath, on Friday last, Richard Ilippesley TUCKFIELD, Esq., of Shobrooke Park, Devon.

At Lampeter, South Wales, on Friday last, aged 2 years, Edith Dorothea, youngest daughter of the Rev. E. H. BROWNE, Vice-Principal of St. David's College.

In Prisor's street, Truro, on Thursday, the 9th instant, aged 61 years, Mr. CARTHEW, printer and stationer, respected and esteemed for his sterling principles and benevolent disposition.

At Trefusis, in the parish of Mylor, on the 1st instant, James, fifth son of Mr. DOBLE, aged 18 years.

At Antertavis, in the parish of Mabe, Jane, the beloved wife of Mr. Henry BATH, aged 38 years, much and deservedly lamented by all who knew her.

At Helston, on Wednesday last, Mr. John PHILLIPS, many years librarian of the Helston Reading Room and Library, aged 55 years.

At Troon, near Hayle, on Sunday last, Mrs. E. BERRIMAN, aged 83 years.

At Liskeard, on the 13th instant, Mrs BENNICKE, relict of Mr James BENNICKE, an alderman of that borough. The deceased was the oldest inhabitant of Liskeard.

At Launceston, on Monday last, Mrs DAVEY, aged 76 years.

At St Stephens by Launceston, on Saturday last, the Rev. Charles Henry LETHBRIDGE, perpetual curate of that parish, aged 55 years.

At Bideford, on the 6th instant, after three days illness, aged 27 years, Mr Edwin BLACKWELL, clerk in the custom house, at that port. The father of the deceased died suddenly at Barnstaple about a fortnight previously.

At Hadley House, Middlesex, on Saturday last, Samuel PAGE, Esq., magistrate for the counties of Middlesex and Herford, aged 59 years.

At Pentonville, London, on the 11th instat, aged 63 years, Mary, relict of the late William YEWENS, Esq., of Highgate, Middlesex, and Pinners Hall, Old Bread-street, City.

At her residence, Richmond Hill, Surrey, on Friday last, at a very advanced age, Elizabeth, Lady MORSHEAD, relic of Sir John MORSHEAD, Bart., late of Trenant Park, in this county, and one of the coheiresses of Sir Thomas FREDERICK of Hascombe, Surrey, Bart.

At her residence, Bejowan, in the Parish of Cubert, Jenefer, relict of the late Mr Samuel HOBLYN, of Penhale, aged 75 years, esteemed for her piety, and regretted by all who knew her.

At Penryn, on the 23rd instant, beloved and respected by all who knew him, Jacob Withers Gordon LORY, Esq, of Exeter College, Oxford, eldest son of Lieut LORY, R.N., of Treleage, St Keverne, aged 21 years.

At Mellingye, in Perran-ar-worthal, on the 19th instant, Henry, eldest son of Richard THOMAS, Esq, civil engineer, aged 30 years.
