Wrecked on the coast of New Zealand, in the ship "Calypso," Mr Joseph WARD, aged 20 years, son of Mr William Ward, grocer of Jersey, lately a resident of Bodmin. The "Calypso" sailed from Sydney, in the beginning of May, 1848, since which nothing has been heard of the ill-fated vessel or crew, except that a part of her cargo has been picked up on the coast of New Zealand.

At Michell Hill, Truro, on Tuesday last, Ann the beloved wife of Robert MICHELL, Esq., aged 90 years, during nearly sixty of which she affectionately discharged the respective duties of wife and mother. Her kindness of disposition and amiability of manners endeared her not only to her family, but to all who had the happiness of her acquaintance, and by whom her memory will long be cherished.

At Truro on the 21st instant, much regretted, Sarah, widow of the late Mr James CHRISTOE, of Redruth, aged 83 years.

On Friday last, Reginald William, youngest son of Mr Paul NINNIS, of Surrey Square, and of Queen's Street Place, London, aged 7 years.

In Buckingham Street, Adelphi, London, on Saturday last, Lawrence Holker POTTS, M.D., aged 60 years formerly Surgeon of the Royal Mainers Militia, Physician to the Royal Cornwall Infirmary, and Medical Superintendent of the Cornwall Lunatic Asylum. Endowed with great natural abilities, educated in the first schools of surgery and medicine, and imbued with an ardent love of science, Dr Potts disliked the irksome duties which accompany the active exercise of his profession, and devoted his attention more particularly to scientific pursuits, although he never allowed them to interfere with professional duties. He was one of the founders of the Royal Institution of Cornwall, and discharged the duties of Secretary for many years. In 1837 he removed to London, and during the latter years of his life was much occupied in perfecting and bringing into notice the valuable invention, which he patented, for constructing foundations in shifting sands, under water, where ordinary piles cannot be driven, the importance of which has been recognized by the Trinity Board and other public boards, and under the management of Messrs. FOX AND HENDERSON, is likely to be extensively used.
