WHAT IS A MAILING LIST?

A mailing list is a way of forwarding messages to others who are interested in the same research as you. You send your message to the list and it is sent to everyone else who has subscribed to that list. And everything that anyone else sends to the list will be sent to you. It is a great way to find others who are researching in the same area or are researching the same surname.
A mail list does not have an address that you can go to. It is an email program on the Internet. It only receives and forwards email messages.

The WILLARD Mailing List at RootsWeb.com is for people researching the surname WILLARD and variants.

The WILLIARD Mailing List at RootsWeb.com is for people researching the surname WILLIARD and variants.

A brief comment about the two different spellings, WILLARD and WILLIARD. These are just two of the several variant spellings for this surname. In earlier generations the spelling of the names evolved and during emigration the names were often misspelled. And so we have today several spellings of the name. Some other examples are: Willarde, Wyllard, Willart, Wollard, also Villard and Villiard. When researching early generations (ie. 1400-1600 & earlier) you will find these various spellings, sometimes within the same family.

One may choose to subscribe to either one or both of the Mailing List to post inquiries or messages.
