Note: Sources are noted conservatively to allow the text to be more readable as this is a family story and not a pure research project.

Information is documented as accurately as currently possible, but in some cases the information is probable or possibleor sometimes

theoretical.  Sources are noted within the book chapters and referenced at the end of the book. The information is only as good as

the sources.  In cases where researchers differ on their acceptance of information, debate is included and the reader can decide for

themselves.  This is a work in progress which will be further researched as generation chapters develop. There may be some typos

and some misinformation due to invalid sources.  Please send comments, corrections, and additions to Mr. Glover or Scott Rode

John Bentley b. 1608

  William Bentley b. 1573

William Bentley was possibly between abt 1573 to 1581. Stewarts book states William was born in Ampthill, Bedfordshire Co., England. Married Mary Goodwin on May 18 or 20, 1601 in ST. Paul's  Church, Bedfordshire Co., England. Stewarts book states the parish register and the transcript do not agree on the date of Marriage. William Bentley Died before the writing of his wife's Will on June 27, 1632. Possibly 1628, possibly in Elstow, Bedfordshire Co., England. The transcription of Mary's Will states that she is a Widow, which means that William died before her Will was written.   William and Mary (Goodwin) Bentley begot 7 children.

The web site that follows the Bentley Family Tree was created by Scott Charles Rode on 07/05/2001. Revised on 09/14/2018. Revisions are underway with coordinating efforts among several key Bentley researchers. Among them are; Robert H. & H. Ross Glover, Sean Bentley and a host of others to be mentioned later. I'm the 11th Great Grandson of William Bentley b. 1573, England

Thank you all for coming here to enjoy a blast from the past. Originally all information that was typed onto this web site was researched, compiled and edited by Betty Sonnek and George & Violet Bentley. No known sources were given by them, but with all of the new information being added many more researchers are contributing.

We of us who are part of this grand Family Tree thank all of those who put forth so much energy and effort in getting this put together.
