Third Generation
CLARA MAE LEIDICH

Clara was born May 16, 1884 near Solon, Johnson County, Iowa, a daughter of William E. Leidich and Marie Elizabeth Rohrbacher. She died March 17, 1939, in rural Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married George Arthur Stoner on March 22, 1905. She is buried in Oakland Cemetery in Solon, Iowa.

sister, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Leidich: Born Nov. 1, 1882. Died April 29, 1953. She is buried in West Branch, Iowa. She married Jesse Newton Wineke (Dec. 18, 1877 - March 20, 1937) in April 1904. They had five children:
(son), Leo Wineke: Born May 17, 1905. Deceased. He married Marie _____.
(son), Glen Wineke: Born Jan. 15, 1907. Disappeared.
(daughter), Clara Mae Wineke: Born Aug. 7, 1909. Deceased. She married Einer Paulsen, deceased.
(daughter), Fern Wineke: Born Aug. 28, 1911. Died in July 1998. She married Roy Kintz Sr. on Sept. 10, 1932. They had two children: (sons), both living:Roy Jr.'s wife, Rose Marie Grommesh Kintz, died June 16, 2003. She was 74.
(daughter), Doris Elizabeth Wineke:Born Jan. 9, 1915, resides in West Branch, Iowa. She married Francis Lang (Feb. 26, 1914 - Aug. 26, 1986).

twin brother, Christian "Chris" Leidich: Born May 16, 1884. He married Ethel Altman. He is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Solon, Iowa.

brother, Oscar Leidich: Born in October 1896. He married Martha DeVault. They had one child: (son), William Leidich, living.


Fourth Generation
WILLIAM E. LEIDICH

Born Nov. 23, 1857, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, a son of Samuel W. Leidich and Rebecca Emmerick. He died Sept. 25, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Marie Elizabeth Rohrbacher on Feb. 16, 1882, in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. William attended college in Pennsylvania. He headed west around 1880, ending up in Iowa. William and Elizabeth lived on a farm in Sugar Bottom near Solon, Iowa, and Lake Macbride. In 1890 or thereabouts, the couple and three of their four children traveled by covered wagon west, settling in Bertrand, Neb. They returned to Iowa in about 1894.

They had 13 children: (1) Harry Guy Leidich (June 28, 1881 - May 3, 1883); (2)William Heft Leidich (June 3, 1883 - Dec. 26, 1942); (3) Bessie Jane Leidich (July 15, 1884 - July 15, 1974); (4) Edna Louise Leidich (June 2, 1886 - July 13, 1966); (5) Roy Byron Leidich (Feb. 4, 1888 - Sept. 24, 1969); (6) Earl Roland Leidich (Oct. 15, 1890 - Oct. 12, 1921); (7) Minnie Lavina Leidich (June 30, 1891 - Jan. 16, 1979); (8) Ina Elmira Leidich (Nov. 27, 1892 - Nov. 10, 1960); (9) Harvey Grover Leidich (July 30, 1895 - Dec. 4, 1895); (10) James Emery Leidich (March 29, 1897 - Oct. 7, 1947). James married Elizabeth Price (Dec. 1, 1897 - June 1, 1968) and they had two children: James Emery Leidich (Jan. 17, 1921 - June 1969), who married Constance Oranski (Feb. 8, 1921 - April 8, 1997), and Donald Thomas Leidich (May 6, 1923 - June 15, 2001); (11) Samuel Joseph Leidich (Aug. 4, 1898 - Sept. 12, 1898; (12) Charles Erwin Leidich (April 12, 1899 - Sept. 12, 1899); (13) Warren Robert Leidich (April 29, 1904 - July 6, 1904).


half sister, Mary Ann Leidich: Born June 9, 1843. Died June 27, 1930. Buried: Lower Saucon Church Cemetery, Northampton County, Pa. She married a Mr. Eichelberger.

half sister, Esther M. "Hettie" Leidich: Born March 13, 1847. Died Feb. 28, 1929. Buried in Lower Saucon Church Cemetery, Northampton County, Pa.

half brother, John M. Leidich:

half brother, Peter Mittman Leidich: Born Aug. 8, 1845. Died Oct. 23, 1922. Buried in Durham Lutheran Church Cemetery, Pa. On March 28, 1868, he married Elizabeth Raub, daughter of David Raub and Catherine Bauder. They had six children.
(daughter), Catherine Elmira Leidich: (Feb. 14, 1869 - Nov. 23, 1953) She married Harvey F. Ruth on Sept. 12, 1896 - two children were born: Miriam M. Ruth (June 13, 1897- ?) and Clifford Ruth (Jan. 21, 1903 - ?). On March 30, 1912, she married Joseph D. Nicholas.

(son), Otis Orville Leidich: (March 8, 1870 - Feb. 11, 1951)Buried in Brickerville Cemetery. On March 5, 1903, he married Fannie Bear Minnich, daughter of Amos Minnich and Maria Bear - 4 children were born: son John Minnich Leidich (Nov. 11, 1905 - Oct. 3, 1997); daughter Mary Leidich (Nov. 23, 1908 - Aug. 25, 1996); daughter Anna Leidich (1910 - ?); son David Leidich (1913-1956). On Feb. 28, 1937, he married Emma Reist Keeny.

(daughter), Ida May Leidich: (July 5, 1871 - March 18, 1962) Married William F. Hindenach on Oct. 23, 1893. Two children were born: son Bayard L. Hindenach (March 13, 1895 - ?) and daughter Esther Elizabeth Hindenach (June 14, 1900 - ?).

(daughter), Annie Clementine Leidich: (Oct. 1, 1874 - July 5, 1948) She married Elmer S. Gerhard on Aug. 19, 1903. Two children were born: son Sherman L. Gerhard (May 25, 1904 - Dec. 29, 1992) and daughter Elizabeth Barrett Gerhard (June 24, 1910 - ?).

(daughter), Sarah Elizabeth Leidich: (Jan. 16, 1877-?)She married Victor Lambert Helms on March 21, 1906. Three children were born: son Samuel Leidich Helms (Feb. 2, 1907-?); son David Orville Helms (Nov. 16, 1908 - Dec. 30, 1975)and daughter Rebecca Clarissa Helms (Aug. 26, 1910-?).


(daughter), Mary Raub Leidich: (Dec. 14, 1881 - March 15, 1927) She married Howard H. Schultz on June 19, 1907. Three children were born: son H. Byron Schultz (Jan. 18, 1912-?); daughter Ethel Marie Schultz (April 1, 1914-?) and daughter Ida Beth Schultz (March 21, 1917 - Feb. 28, 1963).



Fifth Generation
SAMUEL W. LEIDICH

Born March 26, 1817, in Lower Saucon Township, North Hampton County, Pennsylvania, a son of Joseph Leidich and Anna Maria Wasser. He died of dropsy on July 10, 1900, in North Hampton County, Pa., and is buried in Lower Saucon Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hellertown, Pa. Samuel married twice - first to Sarah Mittman, a daughter of John Mittman and Elizabeth Vogle; and then to Rebecca Emmerick.

Sixth Generation
JOSEPH LEIDICH

Born Sept. 11, 1792, and died Feb. 22, 1881. He married Anna Maria Wasser in May 1816. Joseph and his Unknown sister were Revolutionary War orphans. They were indentured/placed in a home just south of Old Williams Union Church in Bethlehem, Pa. Later they settled in Lower Saucon Township, North Hampton County, Pa.

NOTES: Information provided by Dan Lydick of Carrollton, Texas: Joseph was baptized Dec. 2, 1792 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Easton, Pa., the son of Johan and Christina Lidig. Johan had lived in Goshenhoppen, Pa.

Information gleaned from updated Web site of cousin Jack Leidich in Maryland: Joseph's father is recorded as Johan Leidich in records of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Easton, Pa., born February 1745 or 1746, and died February 1818. A possible marriage to Christina is listed. A brother, Jacob, is listed as being born Nov. 12, 1797.
