       They came to America 
                        in sailing ships
   . . . from Germany, France, 
    Holland, England,  Scotland,
    Wales, and Ireland, and started 
    homes and families in many
   states.
  First, they settled in 
        one place and then moved 
        ---again and again! 		  
 Some of them crossed 
       the plains in covered 
       wagons to finally
       settle in California.
