15. Anne Boleyn married (as his 2nd wife) Robert Clere. He was born about 1453 (aged 40 in 1493)..

Remark : This has to be wrong if I am right that his father, Robert Clere, died on August 2, 1446. RPA (Richardson) bases its assertion on a record (unidentified, but probably the ipm of Elizabeth Clere, mother of Sir Robert) that Sir Robert was aged 40 in 1493. I do not have the ipm before me, but I suspect it says that Sir Roger was then aged 40 AND MORE. Even if it doesnt, 40 is highly likely to be a rounded figure.

18.Anne Clere married (1) William Gilbert

Remark : Doug writes that William Gilbert and his wife Anne Clere of Mickleover, Derbyshire, who had married in 1578, were the parents of two sons, Henry and John, and two daughters, Clere or Cleere (wife of Robert Newton, gent, and John Beresford, gent.), and Temperance. I suspect that there was another daughter, Frances. Nichols, Leicestershire, vol 3, part 1, pedigree chart of Sacheverell, of Reresby, shows a Francis Sacheverell, of Reresby, born 1574; went over to Ireland and died there. His wife was Frances, daughter of William Gilbert, of Lockhoe, co. Derby, first wife. Among there children was a son Cleare, rector of Reresby 1633. Since Clere or Cleere was a name frequently used among descendants of Anne (Clere) Gilbert (albeit usually for females), I suspect that Frances (Gilbert), the wife of Francis Sacheverelll, was another daughter (perhaps the eldest, and already married when her father and grandfather made their wills (1605 and 1608). Frances (Fulmerston) Clere was the mother of Anne (Clere) Gilbert, so the name Frances is an important cluse, as well.
